  1. Why is Cal a possible team while Louisville or WV are not? Sorry, my subconscious underrates the Big East like the rest of the america.
  2. USC definitely will have a chance if they beat Cal and ND. Are you getting the Cal game? nope, unfortunately.
  3. Why do we let one game decide everything rather than the body of work? Well they haven't really blown out, or even won by a substantial margin in their last 2 games (almost losing to Vanderbilt). If they lose to USC here, than I think that is enough for me to decide they are going to drop out of the top 10.
  4. Ok, so with so far this week Auburn and Louisville most likely falling out of the top spots of the BCS, and Florida playing South Carolina close so far, will the winner of the Cal/USC game have a fighting shot to play in the National Championship?
  5. Raisin, I'm a little foggy on the details of who you are aligned to. Are you pro-Cal as well as UCLA?
  6. Isn't that bad? It would be one of the best offensive OFs in baseball assuming Sheffield's production doesn't drop off the face of the earth and those guys don't get injured anymore than their average. Can Soriano play RF? He's got the arm. He also picked up LF relatively well. So yes, I think he could. However, this is redundant because there's zero chance IMO that we get alfonso
  7. Yanks decline Linebrink offer for Sheff
  8. Alright, time for me to be selfish and think about Cal's chances at the National Championship game. So basically what has to happen -They have to win out (End Season 11-1) -Texas must either TAMU or the Big XII game vs. Nebraska (most likely opponent) -Arkansas must lose one of their last 3 games -USC must beat Notre Dame -WVU must beat Rutgers -Either the voters decide that out of these 3 1 loss teams (Florida, Cal, Auburn), that Cal is the strongest team, or Florida and Auburn lose a game. chances of all that happening...meh i can dream
  9. could be, which would be a shame. If that happened, I would hope for a total clusterhump in the SEC plus Cal beating USC, USC beating ND, and Texas losing the Big XII game. Then you'l have a bunch of TWO loss teams to sort through (or open the door for Boise St., though they'll never get love from the pollsters) holy.... if that wouldn't be enough to convince the powers that be for a playoff, i don't know what would.
  10. How about some Heisman love for Rice?
  11. WOOO RUTGERS WOOO BCS HELL wheeeeeeeee!!!
  12. I really like this move. I usually don't like to look to far into the future, but is this guy Manager material down the road at the end of Lou's contract?
  13. Thank god that awful purple/green color scheme with the sleeveless jerseys is gone. I couldn't stand looking at them. Even though this red/black is pretty dull, It fits with other Arizona teams. I agree on the "DB" on the shoulder, that is pretty cool. Not a fan of the lettering though.
  14. Wasn't Ichiro's posting fee 13M, not 11M? That site just reeks of credibility. yup you're right Here's a very informative article about Matsuzaka, Ichiro, and past Japanese posted players
  15. How about a 30 million dollar bid with a 4/30 contract with a player option for the 5th year? works for me as well. Question is, how much is boras going to want to string out of the winner.
  16. How does a 30 million dollar bid followed by a 5 year/50 mil contract with an team out clause after 2008?
  17. I think that what Hendry needs to realize is that the difference between 5 million dollars more than the estimated bids over 4-5 years and getting Daisuke vs. lowballing it and not getting him is black and white. If i think that the Yankees are going to shell out somewhere around 25 mil, than i up it 5 mil just to be safe.
  18. 1st base is not quite as physically demanding as Shortstop & 3B (quick movements laterally are not really good for injury-prone hammys/tendons). I am sure Nomar could still handle 2B or 3B. If the Cubs retain Ramirez, there is no real need to get Nomar. how is 1b any different than 3b other than having to make throws? I think 3b would actually be less demanding since you don't have to stretch for bad throws (unless you are playing for the tigers). At 3B, the reaction time needed it much more than at 1B. And with Nomar's history of groin injuries, he could easily reinjure it with an awkward dive.
  19. I'm not sure I'd do a Matsuzaka for A-Rod trade, even if I could. Yes Yes, i know it goes against logic to take an unproven player over a bonafide star, but there are other ways to get offense outside of Rodriguez. Matsuzaka on the other hand is our best bet at immediately improving the rotation. I would do it however if we don't resign Aram
  20. Can someone explain to me why the computer's averages are so different from the BCS poll? What do you mean exactly? Why do the computers disagree with the polls so much, causing the huge difference in the poll? Or do you mean that the top team gets 25? In the computer averages, 25 is best. If you get a 25, that means you're #1 in that poll-all the way down to 1 point, which means you're number #25 in that computer poll actually. Edit: That is of course until it says the entire computer average: then you want to be #1. the first thing you said. They have Cal at #4, but in the BCS poll, theyre at 8. Also Michigan is almost unanimously the top team in the computer rankings
  21. Can someone explain to me why the computer's averages are so different from the BCS poll?
  22. Rutgers vs. Louisville should be interesting.
  23. I think that Nomar would be a great option for 2B or SS actually. Hopefully we will pursue him even if we do sign Aram back. He would be invaluable playing all over the infield, and maybe even in the oufield.
  24. Interesting if true. It would make a lot more sense as to why a team like Seattle or LA wouldn't make a bid for Matsuzaka. So then that narrows it down to what? The east coast and midwest teams? I wonder if Bora's relationship with the Cubs has helped prevent him from eliminating us. Or maybe Matsuzaka is genuinely interested in joining us. Which would be a welcome change. This is a kind of huge news if the latter is true. It would definately help with future asian imports even if we don't end up getting Dai.
  25. I would love for sammy to come back...just not on the cubs. But definately not for any of our obvious rivals.
