  1. I am an NIU student packer fan, and I think it's actually kind of cool that he is going to play so close to home. Also he came to a party at my house once and paid with a ben frank, so that's cool. I really doubt he does much in the nfl though.
  2. I wonder if OMC knew he was a sox fan?
  3. I really don't understand how you can hate something like cancer. Sure it's a terrible disease and a lot of sadness is caused from people dying of cancer, but it's a disease. There is no underlying hatred behind the mechanism of cancer. There is no malicious intent behind the invisible biology that causes the unchecked cell growth. Hate the fact that your loved ones get cancer, but how can you hate cancer? Terrorism is the easy choice in my mind.
  4. Carlos Quentin and Chris Young have been two of my favorite prospects over the past few years, so I am sorry to say, that I have a bit of a soft spot for the NL diamondbacks.
  5. Didn't we home in something like 8 straight games at the start of the season? ? the longest streak was 3 games from 4/5 to 4/7. The cubs have homered in 9 out of 18 games. They have hit a total of 14 good for 8th place in the NL.
  6. I think Nick Punto will hit a home run before Derrek Lee.
  7. And that particular piece was written back in late January. Actually, they have an updated Top 30 prospects list that has it as Price, Wieters and Vitters as the top 3 with Brackman falling to 6th due to "inconsistency". I'd like to see an updated first round projection soon - it looks like Callis made such an initial list on May 19 with a couple of updated projections right up to draft day. Of course, even if Price does go #1 it will still be interesting to see what falls to the Cubs and what route they will take. Even in the 2001 draft with Mauer pre-slected we didn't know if it would be Prior or Teixeira until the pick was in. I am confused.
  8. I am in love with Tyrus Thomas.
  9. Agree 100%. Early last year he simply wasn't getting it done and I think people had a right to question whether he could turn it on at the big league level. But it is awesome that he has finally broken through. Does anyone know how long Hill is signed? I think it would make sense to approach him shortly and see if we can lock him up to a long term deal, maybe around 10 mill/season if the Cubs take action now. There has to be a year or two before he even hits arbitration and then another few years before he becomes a free agent. There is absolutely no reason to give him 10 mil a year right now.
  10. hope you don't mind but i'm jumping in the coalition :D me too.
  11. Cool. I also remember a stats guy on Murph in the offseason who predicted a breakout year for Rich on the basis that his minor league numbers are some of the best in recent memory. The early returns are, he was right on. I don't remember his name though. Probably John Dewan. Was there a lot of computery robot noises in the background? The second link is non-premium.
  12. I wish I had proof that Rich Hill has been my favorite cub since late 2005.
  13. Is there a way to type backwards K's because Rich is getting a lot them.
  14. my favorite. http://a287.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/3/l_27e78603996dc796947dd1b4d6adc83e.jpg His song is ridiculous.
  15. On monday my buddy and I parked at the CTA lot at the end of the brown line and that worked out wonderfully. 2 bucks for parking and 4 bucks each for the rides to and from Wrigley. I was surprised to find a lot of open spots in the lot, so I don't know if we just got lucky or if there are typically spots open.
  16. He hadn't played above short season A ball since 2002. It was a very long shot, low risk, high reward move by the reds, and it would have been absolutely foolish for any team to bank on him being a solid 4th oufielder.
  17. I bet that it was mostly because a first round rematch is the kind of thing reporters love to ask questions about.
  18. Get on track Donnie! Bounce back after terrible start Dolis!
  19. Strike some people out tonight please Jeff. I love Clayton Kershaw.
  20. Wuertz threw 11 pitches yesterday. Ohman and Howry each threw 9. The bullpen hasn't been "burned." There's no need to bring someone up for that reason. where are you getting your pitch counts? Wuertz threw 35, Ohman threw 22 and Howry threw 21 according to the mlb.com box score.
  21. 50  That is old! Just kidding, sorry if I made you feel bad :( Happy Birthday! Thanks for the NSBB contributions. *quick question: Where do you get to sit during the games? Do you have a designated spot in the the press area or is it all just open to anyone, whoever gets there first?
  22. I'd imagine it means he'll be fine and Pie will likely be up here only for a few days. Guzman was the obvious choice for them simply because he pitched two innings last night. That makes a lot of sense. How long does Guzman have to stay down until they can call him back up?
  23. They better be sending Angel to Iowa to stretch him out and get him ready to take Miller's rotation spot.
