  1. you might be right, but i'd still like to see some evidence that Tim Wilken liked him better as a pitcher than an outfielder. I doubt just coming out of the draft, that Tim Wilken had very little to do about the trade, thats just a guess. I would hope that the scouting directer would be very involved with any trades made. It's not like the draft ends and he gets a two month vacation.
  2. I love Marco and therefor I voted for him.
  3. I got Kershaw's, Valaika's, Anderson's and Snider's autographs! oh and also Matt Liuzza's because he looked too similar to Travis Snider, damn him.
  4. Why do you hate posters with a wacky sense of humor so much?
  5. As long as he is drunk, I vote Yeti.
  6. whoo hoo! Anyone else going?
  7. It's either/or. The same way that Super Bowl XLI is Super Bowl 41. There is no Super Bowl 41. The Super Bowl is officially listed in roman numerals. Rule 5 is officially written in........ what are those called again? Numerical numerals? Numberals? Arabic numerals.
  8. Loves the Beatles. Loves History. easy vote for me
  9. Go Scrubs! Bob Sanders +1 to take the lead
  10. I don't think we will know what Vitter's walk drawing ability is until he faces professional competition. High school numbers do not mean much.
  11. The cubs will lose because I will be there.
  12. I really think you guys are selling Hoffpauir's ability short 312/350/889 isnt terrible for AAA. Was 268/362/956 last year in AA. Maybe it takes another throw in or another team involved for some hot 3 way...either way i think Atl is the way to go. I think it is definitely a way to go; I am in love with Jarrod Saltalamacchia. I just think it would take a heck of a lot more than you propose. Hoffpauier sounds like a nice guy, but the fact is he is 27 years old and has a spotty minor league track record. They would move Salt to first before trading him for a first baseman like Hoffpauier. edit- Hoffpauier's 2006 AAA stats -.267/.345/.451 with significantly more at bats then he got at AA. Considering he was a 26 year old first baseman, that is not generally considered to be much of a prospect, that is pretty bad.
  13. Dont think they need him as they have Blanco in Richmond who is on pace with Pie and ready to potentially break out like Pie did this year. He is Andruw's tabbed replacement. This is also Atlantas last gasp for a while. Their high farm system is not pretty and they are not going to be spending on FAs. Very well could be Bobby Cox's swan song too. Would think they might go for one more pennant. Schuerholz is too good a GM to trade a guy like Salt and only get Howry and Cotts/Cherry as the main pieces to help him reach that goal.
  14. If we seriously hit them with a deal like Hoffpauir, Howry, and Cotts/Cherry or some other young pitcher (not Guzman or Marmol or any of our current starters), how in God's name would Schuerholz turn that down? Seriously the Braves dont have any high talent 1b prospects other than Thorman who is stuck around .230. I love Micah, but he does not have a future in Chicago. He is blocked at all of his spots. Howry addresses their need for setup relief and Cotts/Cherry could take either the Closer slot if Wickman falters or Cotts could take Gonzalez spot which has been a key problem since he blew out his elbow. They would move Salt to first before trading him for a mediocre first-base prospect and some ok pitching.
  15. I have to admit that I was a bit (well maybe more than a bit) ignorant when I first joined the board. I remember having an discussion with a couple people about Kerry Wood where I argued that Wood wasn't that great because he never got 15 wins a season. I was like a child that wandered into the middle of a movie. But I have seen the error in my ways and now I would never dare make that argument. I actually went back and read some of my early posts. Boy were some of them stupid. I almost slapped myself for some of them. Was that a Big Lebowski reference I just caught? Nice. That it was. For that I wish I could go back and vote for you. One of my favorites.
  16. Doubt it but boy would I love Salt. Trading him has to be on their mind, I wonder what it would take.
  17. What kind of stuff does he have? Mid-90s FB and a curve. A fastball between 92-98, a good curveball, and a show-me changeup he uses mainly against lefties. I see him eventually being a reliever, but if he continues to improve his secondary pitches he could one day start. This is his first year pitching at a full-season professional level, so he still has some improving to do. Thanks!
  18. ya they do have one of the nicest stadiums in baseball. Friends of mine went last year and still can't stop talking about it! They said it's just unreal. Primanti's sandwiches are the best part! I tried to make one at work the other day and it was good, but not nearly the real thing.
  19. Meph is a jerk. But I voted for him because he is awesome enough that I say he is allowed to be a jerk.
  20. I credit OMC with getting me into the Beatles. +1
  21. It was sometimes hard to decipher but he provided info very few of us had. Also Flames is a Packer fan. That's actually a good thing as far as I'm concerned. :D
