  1. i assumed that Donaldson would come back to earth a little bit after his 2007 season, but I didn't expect it to be this bad.
  2. barry bonds' 762 career home runs* *still counting hopefully
  3. http://media.scout.com/media/image/53/532752.jpg http://www.latimes.com/media/photo/2008-03/37063269.jpg how many times is UCLA going to get bailed out?
  4. yeah, i completely forgot about hamilton. oh well -- i'm satisfied with ankiel.
  5. Group A: Ryan Howard Group B: Carlos Pena, Alfonso Soriano Group C: Travis Hafner, Hanley Ramirez, Andruw Jones Group D: Chase Utley, Jason Bay, Jeff Francoeur, B.J. Upton, Troy Glaus Wild Card: Rick Ankiel
  6. i had connecticut in the final four. ...needless to say, my bracket is officially done. at least i don't have any money on it.
  7. i'm just glad that UK is finally out of the 8-9 game. i wish UK would have went in the opposite direction in terms of seeding, but hey, i'm just glad that UK is in. i was starting to get nervous.
  8. They made a serious mistake getting rid of Tubby. yeah, although i had no idea about that rule, and i'm sure a lot of other people didn't either, that does not excuse the fact that gillispie should have known about it. if bradley holds the ball a few more seconds before taking his shot, we're not even talking about this. oh well -- what can you do? i like BCG, and i think he'll turn UK back into an elite program in the next few years. he basically has had to start from scratch. on tubby: he resigned, largely due to the pressure from basically everyone in the state of kentucky. i think tubby is a good coach, but for whatever reason, it just started to go downhill. his recruiting (or lack thereof) went severely downhill after he brought in the #1 class in 2004. i honestly think it was time to part ways for both parties.
  9. i don't think they realized the true scope of the damage until after the alabama-msu game, and then even further the more the night went on. there was no point in letting everyone outside, especially with more severe weather on the way. it's basically a war zone in that area. i don't like the decision as a UK fan, but i don't see what else they could do given the circumstances.
  10. that was crazy. i was watching the entire time. my dad and a few family friends are down there. really crazy stuff. horrible luck for both UK and Georgia, but mainly Georgia, as their overtime game didn't end until around 12:30 am last night (this morning, whatever).
  11. every time jim rome makes a really stupid comment, i watch the jim "chris" everett video to make myself feel better. it's a good thing i never watch his show. i'd be watching that video far too often.
  12. lunardi has kentucky as a 9 seed now. i HATE the 8-9 game. kentucky has been an 8 seed for the past two years... it's a lose-lose situation. i'd much rather be a 12 and play an indiana or drake instead of facing the #1 seed in the 2nd round. that's of course if they win that first game. it'd be interesting to see what seed UK would get if they won the SECT.
  13. what is up with all of the SEC disdain? yes, obviously the conference is down, but you guys have beaten that point into the ground on here. re: Hopson -- UK could use him so badly next year, but i'd be really surprised if he came to UK.
  14. it's obviously an uphill battle, but i really think kentucky will get in if they win three more games. then again, i can't take the blue sunglasses off. injuries have really killed this year. they wouldn't have been great, but i don't think they would have been close to the bubble if everyone was healthy. @ loukycub: louisville is playing like a top 10 team right now. how do you feel about the georgetown game on saturday?
  15. personally, i don't see how lunardi has Florida in but Kentucky out. i'm a UK homer, but... RPI Kentucky: 52 (lunardi said on espn a week or so ago that Kentucky's RPI since the start of conference play was in the top 10, which is not surprising considering UK's RPI before conference play started was 200+) Florida: 59 SOS Kentucky: 10 Florida: 103 i think Florida has to beat Tennessee tomorrow night. if they lose that game, and then lose @ UK on senior night, they'll be 8-8 in the conference, with a 21-11 overall record. likewise, i think UK has to beat USC and UF, and win a game in the SECT. if UK wins the next two games, that will give them the 2 seed in the SECT, which has a bye. it's gonna be real hard for UK without patterson. they really gave the Tennessee game away on sunday. completely fell apart toward the end of the game.
  16. it was definitely larger last year, because i was in it
  17. uh, that basically dooms any chance kentucky had. really sucks. i don't remember a year in which so many crippling injuries occurred. on past teams, there were bench players who could step in and bear the load somewhat if a core player got hurt. this year, that's not the case. It could force him back for next year though. Might be good for the program in the long run. honestly, i don't think there is any question as to whether he'll be back next year, injury or not. he's said multiple times that he wants to stay. i could be wrong, but i really think he's going to be at UK for three years (word is that he's on track to graduate in 3).

  19. Meph, 16 days ago you accused me and/or my source of fabricating a story. You should know this: I will continue to post rumors from sources, who I believe to be credible based on my history with them regardless of how unreasonable or unrealistic you think the trade scenarios are. I am not in the business of fabrication. I am always very clear on this board differentiating between deals I've heard vs. deals I am suggesting. And considering that Bruce Miles (who I think we can all agree has an absolute stellar reputation for facts in addition to being very generous with his time here), has chimed in twice in the last 7 days that there may have been/may be some discussions going on, at least now I feel good for my source, who you unfairly through under the bus. The information that the 2 teams had or are having discussions was not only credible, it was real and confirmed regardless of what your stamp of approval may or may not think. 1 pt. for Hoops. Those of us that have posted on this site for years know it's more like 1000 pts. for Hoops. yes, let us bow down and worship at the feet of the almighty HoopsCubs
  20. career PER: Deron Williams -- 16.5 Chris Paul -- 23.3 this season: Deron Williams -- 20.6 Chris Paul -- 26.9 also, your whole karl malone/michael jordan argument is one of the most idiotic things i've ever read.
  21. have fun during your time on probation! Well, you should know all about that. you're right. something tells me that you're not going to rebound quite the same way that kentucky did, however. From which major violation that UK rebounded from are you talking about? I see no reason why IU won't rebound. They'll still hire a good coach (likely an improvement over their past two). They have an extremely fertile natural recruiting ground -- far better than Kentucky. They have great fan support and good facilities with a million-dollar practice facility currently being built. They'll be back; there's no reason to think they won't. Though Pitino's turnaround from probation was nothing short of miraculous. i'm referring to the incident(s) in the late 80's. re: fertile recruiting ground, it's pretty crazy that two of the top 50 recruits in the nation are from Kentucky (hopson is #9 according to rivals). doesn't happen very often.

  23. have fun during your time on probation! anyway, i think stallings was definitely trying to get back at UK for this game: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=230640096
