  1. So Wada over Hendricks in a couple of weeks?
  2. He might want to watch his back. Has he had a "quality start" yet?
  3. Bosio has the best to-the-mound shuffle.
  4. Hammer is having some issues handling the puck and cheating in his zone. Craw has bailed him out a couple of times.
  5. Now that he is cleared, the Bears should be offering him many barrels of cash, a guaranteed roster spot, and all the food he can eat at Gibsons. Plug him at RT and all of sudden we have the makings of a great line.
  6. Varvaro's WHIP thus far is 1.8 over 11 innings. I realize the sample size is very small, but yikes. FIP is just below his career average though.
  7. I don't think anyone has been particularly worried about either Bryant or Russell. Check the other threads PS: You're missing the point
  8. We have a fatalism thread, and melt-downs like last night's game make me unhappy. I am just getting a bit more specific. If the bullpen is as sterling as some think then this will make its way into the cyber dumpster and I will eat crow. If not...well like I said, we might need a place to deposit the frustration and potential solutions. And Motte, German, and Coke have mostly stunk. I don't understand how Coke and German can have such low FIP's.
  9. Bryant last night: 34 pitches faced, 4 walks, and a hit. Now has the same OBP as Rizzo. http://rack.0.mshcdn.com/media/ZgkyMDEzLzA2LzE4LzdjL0JlYWtlci4zOWJhOC5naWYKcAl0aHVtYgkxMjAweDk2MDA-/4a93e3c4/4a4/Beaker.gif
  10. I wonder if their screams are pitched better than the average suicide-by-dui ghost?
  11. I hate bullpens for reasons that have been well-documented here over the years. I hate that relievers are for the most part inconsistent and unreliable. I hate that managers stubbornly refuse to use their best ones in high-leverage situations. I hate that most people think lefties should only face left-handed hitters. I hate that there's largely no point in trying to upgrade your bullpen because relievers are inherently unpredictable. I mainly hate when they cough-up leads against good teams or rivals. Like last night. Thanks a lot Pedro and Zac. And 10 days or so ago I was thinking the same thing during the SD series. We've spent a lot of time here worrying about Bryant (freaking guy will be fine; he walked FOUR times last night and had a hit; he saw 34 PITCHES; CHILL), Russell, Baez, etc. What about the pen? IMO, its the preverbal "weak link" on this team so far. Would getting The Thing (Grimm) and Ramirez back solve the problem? Maybe, but in the meantime I think having a depository for frustration over bullpens is a healthy thing.
  12. Jesus, Bryant is going to be Bonds. Kid is so patient.
  13. Matheny just ran to the store for more "We Play the Right Way" pixie dust
  14. Yeah, I would have done pretty much the exact same thing, assuming White was the pick in the 1st. I would have drafted Beasley, but have no qualms about White being the pick. All those picks 2-5 were easily the best players on the board, without character concerns, IMO (which I think was clearly the focus). And I'm not a Clemmings fan at all. Had him with an early to mid 3rd grade. I probably would have picked Ifo in the 6th, but C is definitely a much bigger need. Feels like the Grasu pick is getting the most talk one way or the other. I love it, and I thick we will look back and wonder how he dropped to the 3rd Rnd. I also think White over Beasley was the right call. I get that you can never have enough speed rushers in any defense, especially the 3-4. But White looks like a potential superstar, and the tape on him shows that he is a hard worker with a nasty streak. Beasley looks like he doesn't get involved against the run, which bothers me.
  15. I think he was stunned more than anything else. He recovered pretty quickly to make a couple solid saves right after it hit him. he was flopping around for a good bit after the shot. Yeah, and it looked like he took the puck in the chin.
  16. They pretty much did what they wanted the last period-and-a-half last night. I'm guessing the Wild will be looking to stop us at their blue line on Tuesday night. We were walking into their zone with ease. They need to force more chip and chase.
  17. http://i075.radikal.ru/0902/ba/e12bd9c8c636.jpg
  18. Seattle has made a living off of UDFA's. Maybe we can get a couple of guys who can at least help on ST. The only position I wish they would have addressed that they didn't is CB, but they clearly did their homework, used some advanced stats, and grabbed BPA's. Looks good preliminarily.
  19. Zone scheme, one-cut guy. And if history is any guide he likes having more than one.
  20. I really like the Bears' draft so far. When their next pick comes around there will very likely be a great value to be had at corner, tackle or linebacker.
