  1. I don't believe so: http://www.baseball-reference.com/about/war_explained_pitch.shtml Add Z's bat and you get a six-year run of: 6.1 7.3 6.6 5.7 4.0 5.7 That's pretty damn awesome. Yup. Sutt's go up as well to: 4.3 3.0 2.8 6.6 4.0 3.6

  4. Sutt's BR WAR from 84'-89': 3.9 2.7 2.4 6.1 3.4 3.2 Z from 03'-08': 5.5 6.7 5.6 5.2 3.4 4.3 Yup, Z was better, but Rick wasn't exactly mediocre after 84'.
  5. Based on the above, I don't agree. The league is paying attention and Joe is a very well-estbalished and respected manager who is not otherwise known for going ape [expletive]. When you don't have a Piniella-like rep for being a whiner or throwing tantrums you tend to get a better response when you stop to "raise your hand" (voice).
  6. Regardless, it was a freaking great moment with a useful purpose in terms of supporting his guys and perhaps motivating the ump to get his head out of his ass.
  7. Having Z on the list is strange. He wasn't that good. But no stranger than Reuschel. I feel like Red Baron should be there over one of them, probably Z.
  8. The Cardinals are at 0.8 I believe it's run differential based, and there's an SOS component. That explains it - they've both played the Brewers at least three times over only 25 or so games, and the Pirates and Reds are both underwater.
  9. From last night after his ejection for (righteously) arguing balls and strikes:
  10. Can someone explain the baseball reference simple rating system to me? The Cards and Cubs both have negative ratings; that makes little sense, especially for the former.
  11. He was taking pretty good at bats, but he still has a .643 OPS w/ 4/0 K/BB in 14 PA Szczur was similarly productive before he was sent down, and he was only sent down due to a rash of bullpen injuries/overuse. Szczur seems to clearly be ahead in the pecking order and Lake probably only got the call to begin with because Szczur was ineligible to come up on the 27th. Right'o - just thought Lake had played well enough (he drove a ball to right two nights ago that Heyward made a really good play on to save an extra base hit; made a very nice catch and throw last night) to earn the right to stick around. Not a big deal, just thought he was looking better.
  12. it does but then other places have similar areas so i dunno I was trying to picture that, thinking the same thing with at least one stadium out west (Arizona? Colorado?) Isn't it kind of more an open area? This looks like a a compact area that people would be kind of crammed into. I dunno, I guess the views would be terrible if you're not front row, but still... Its really not all that different from how that CF aisle felt at times. They sort of have it at Citi Field as well, and Mets fans are animals.
  13. Its May in Chicago, silly.
  14. Starlin Castro is a commie
  15. So is waving a big foam "We're Number One!" finger!

  18. Yeah, but they signed Suter and Parise a couple of years ago and traded for Pominville and Vanek, so there's that.
  19. They have done it both of the last two years as well. I pity them.
  20. Three stars: 3rd - Kruger: Great job at the dot and everywhere on defense. 2nd - Hossa: One of the underrated two-way forwards of all time. 1st - Crawford: Keep chanting his name, Wild fans. He's owned your ass's for three years running.)
  21. Feels like we miss the net every other shot
  22. Hendricks has been getting lit up. The 5th inning tonight was truly something to see. Looked like BP. Do they wait for Wada to get back to replace him?
