Just like the way that title sounds, plus these two seem sort of linked. They have until the end of the season to prove they deserve to be ML players as they have potential replacements coming up behind them at AAA (or in Olt's case, potential displacement by Valbuena to make room for Baez). Figured we can track them here. They both have been brutal lately by any measure, but Olt has broken out tonight with a an absolute bomb over the Monster and a rocket double to left-center. I have an irrational desire for Olt to be successful. Reminds of me of Billy rooting for Jerry in "Little Big League". EDIT: Forgot that we already have a Lake thread....that I started.

Imagine trying to match up with a front line of Noah, Gasol and Melo... There's nothing Miami or Indiana could do to counter that, especially if Rose is healthy.

Larry Hughes Stephenson is a better defender. He reminds me more of Stephen Jackson. He hasn't fought a fan in Detroit yet, but its still early.

I'm on board with this approach as well, especially since we have had success with this sort of trade in the past and Hammel has publicly expressed interest in coming back even if he is traded. -
He certainly isn't / wasn't worth the contract he was playing under, but I'll take a 50-point center-man on a 1 yr, 2 mill deal any day.

I'd much rather let Olt tread water in hopes of figuring it out then call up Donnie Murphy Jr. It's not doing anyone any good keeping Olt on the big club at this point, especially since he's not getting consistent PAs. He's almost certainly doomed, but if there's even a glimmer of hope, he needs to get PAs. His confidence has to be in tatters, so there's not really any harm in sending him down. It may have to wait until the deadline, but I say jettison Barney, send Olt to Iowa and let him play 1B, make Valbuena the full time 3B (which he already is for all intents and purposes) and call up Alcantara and give him 2B. Agree on all. Maybe you can still trade Barney to someone who desperately needs late-inning defensive help at 2B.

In all seriousness, some of these deals are going to make it tough to keep everybody together. Toews and Kane deserve way more than guys like Stastny and Bolland. I don't see any way you can pay them near market value and keep guys like Sharp, Seabs, Hossa, etc.

Force Houston to match and spend the money; consolation prize if they don't. That would force the Bulls to amnesty Boozer and then tie up more than half of their cap space for three days while Houston decides. That might be worth it for a chance to get Parsons, but it's not without risk for the Bulls as well. True, but my guess is that before they sent in the official offer sheet they would know where they stand with Melo (at least unofficially). EDIT: Parsons and McDermott on the same team would be interesting.

Agreed re Shark and Hammel. Russell is a maybe. I can't imagine anyone would want Nate at this point. -

Riley offered Udonis his (Riley's) niece. Sort of a Game of Thrones type deal. I could totally see Riley as Tywin Lanister, by the way.
