  1. Beyond Bundy who is coming off of TJS, I don't see anyone in Baltimore's top 10 that I like. The Red Sox on the other hand make a lot of sense. I'd ask for Owens as the centerpiece. If you could get them to include Swihart as well it would be a great deal for us, and given that Shark is under control next year I don't think that it is too steep.
  2. ESPN Chicago reporting that the Jays, Mariners and Braves have already contacted Cubs re Shark. We've discussed the Jays many times here. We have a good history with the Braves, but unless I am missing something, they don't have much left in their minor league system; most is at the ML level in terms of young talent. Mariners have several interesting high-ceiling guys, but looks like little depth.
  3. In that case he should be a shoe-in as an AS reserve, no?
  4. You're right. I forgot about SSR's irrational hatred of IU. Hatred of Crean on the other hand is perfectly rational.
  5. Per ESPN standings, Cubs chance of making playoffs is higher than both Cinci and Pitt.
  6. Harris please. Better wingspan and better defender. And that approach is no surprise. Why get two rotational players when you can get a starter? See above for the scenario I am hoping for. EDIT: I think I prefer Young and LaVine to Stauskas. Its not that I don't think Stauskas will be a contributor, its just that his ceiling is Kyle Korver. Also, if Wilcox somehow lasts into the 2nd Rnd I'd love to see us trade up to get him.
  7. Looks like we will be getting almost everyone in shortly. Good stuff.
  8. There's a lot of reports of this today based off an ESPN report that Bulls had a good offer in on Love, but those names were just "possible inclusions". http://espn.go.com/boston/story/_/id/11033627/kevin-love-landing-boston-celtics-far-slam-dunk Yeah, that makes more sense. I can't see them including Gibson and Butler, plus Booz and then get only Love back. That's a ton of assets from a overall value perspective.
  9. I never would have guessed that our bullpen would be this good 60 games into the season. Yeah, I know Rondon was bad yesterday, but still. Ruggiano needs to play every day. Looks like Nate is coming around. Last 28 days: .263 /.337/.408/.745; BAbip of .300; .271 for the season.
  10. I know much more about the NFL and NBA drafts, but based on some comments from some of the authorities here and the reading I've done on various sites, sounds like this has been a solid approach relative to what was available to the Cubs.
  11. Could they be pointed toward the international market in this regard? I know there is a cap on how much they can spend there, but I am not terribly familiar with how that works.
  12. Norwood looks like he could be Kyle Farnsworth if he can find a slider or change-up.
  13. His ranking was knocked down because of the injury. He could have been late first/supplemental based on the stuff he was showing early spring. Doesn't make me feel too much better. I have harsh memories of Angel Guzman and am still waiting for Vizcaino to arrive.
  14. I'm irrationally excited about Cease. If it hadn't been for the TJS (I know, a big "if") he looks like a guy who could have been selected in the 2nd.
  15. Definitely has some upside. Confused on the bold part - why isn't Boise a great place for a young pitcher? He'll probably sign late and stay in Mesa with maybe a cup of coffee in Boise this season. Then it'll be up to him to earn a spot at Kane County next year as opposed to Boise. Maybe I have this wrong, but isn't Boise sort of the Coors Field of the Rookie League?
  16. Looks like a nice high upside arm, unless I am missing something? Please don't start him in Boise. Not a great place for a young pitcher to build confidence.
  17. Smart. If he's killing it there for two or three weeks he can always go to Kane Cnty. I would def go to watch him play. Hope he makes it there this year. Meet ya there.
  18. Smart. If he's killing it there for two or three weeks he can always go to Kane Cnty.
  19. Career 160 IsoD. Only 2 HR in 2014 and an IsoD under 100. I know nothing of college stats, but I think that's a little on the underwhelming side. Schwarber had an IsoD of 300 this year. Obviously that might be the strongest bat in college, but I think the point is that real prospects really hit amazing in college. Didn't see those peripherals. Point taken.
  20. Zagunis pick surprises me, but I also hear people saying he has a weak bat. His college stats don't seem to bear that out, unless I am missing something.
  21. Christ, bring in Jeff Garcia, Jeff George...anyone but him.
  22. That would be pretty great. Sounds like he will need two years or so to work on his change and his delivery. Could be a 3rd-4th starter type on a good team, perhaps?
  23. If he stays at catcher and becomes a .270/.380/.500 player...hell, if he does that in LF I'd be thrilled.
  24. Bulls offered Gibson, Butler and Boozer for Love? http://dimemag.com/2014/06/report-bulls-made-offer-kevin-love/
