  1. I wish Mejia the best, but at this juncture its hard to get upset about losing him for an above-avg ML catcher. Godley doesn't matter all.
  2. Yup. He and Palmeiro hated each other, and rumor had it that it was well-deserved in both directions.
  3. I have serious irrational hate for all members of the 84' Pads and 89' Giants, especially Garvey and Clark (the resemblance is uncanny, BTW). For some reason as a group the 89' Giants bother me more. Clark was just a prick, and I couldn't stand Butler, Thompson, or Williams either. Roger Craig looked like he wore a white robe on off-days.
  4. So did Nightengale I am starting to hate SF as much as hate the Cards. Let's not go that far [expletive] Will Clark, reason enough to hate the Giants. he literally ruined my childhood:

  6. Source? The Cosmos, it's time. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/56/Answer_to_Life.png
  7. Based on what's winning it's clear NSBB doesn't understand great humor. Based on the volume of PTR references I'd say you're right. http://www.gifbin.com/bin/1237811519_chuck-norris-approves.gif
  8. If that trade is for Zimmerman or Cueto, I am with you. But I doubt Cueto is available and neither the Cubs nor Reds would risk an intra-division trade of that magnitude. It would have to be Zimmerman. I'm on the other side of that fence when it comes to Hamels, but if the haul isn't too heavy, I could be convinced otherwise.
  9. On the other hand, trading for Zimmerman or Greinke would likely be less expensive than Hamels...
  10. Here's a thought: would you rather give Lester 7 years or pony-up to trade for Hamels? I'd probably give Lester the 7 because I am guessing Philly will be asking for two of of Castro/Baez/Russell plus pitching.
  11. Padres are now "team most likely" to acquire Kemp, per Nightengale and via MLBTR.
  12. Beat me to it: I like this a lot. Very tradeable contract if it comes to that.
  13. If its really 2 for 18 or 19 that's a great deal.

  15. I certainly hope TT is correct...but I am skeptical. As I stated in the other thread, if I am Lester it would be hard to turn down the Giants.
  16. This was hinted at last week and the folks over at Committed Indian have been banging on about it for a long while. They argue that Q doesn't give young guys enough minutes to be effective. I am not sure. Carcillo has been (inexplicably) really good, so I understand why Q is riding him for now (and that's even relative as he is only getting 8:35 per game). Nordstrom has played quite a bit of late; the third pairing has included TVR, Clendening and Dahlbeck; Saad and Smith are now staples. I think its more likely that there is something about Morin that Q doesn't like.
  17. Its less about the meetings and more about my arm-chair analysis of what's important to him.
  18. This is bad news in terms of the Lester pursuit, but taken in isolation I like it. Does Wood have any trade value whatsoever? Is Wada now in the Wesley Wright role? Would anyone really take on Jaxon's contract? EDIT: Did anyone else notice Hammel's Oakland FIP?
  19. I wouldn't change a thing about the coaching staff right now. They will continue to lead us into the abyss, which is exactly where we need to be in order to secure a true impact talent through the draft. There would be literally no point in canning anyone at this juncture. That moment came and went with the bye week. How about this for an offseason plan? Draft: Keep tanking to get into the top 5, draft Leonard Williams from USC, trade back into the late 1st Round (this year's second and third) to get Shaq from Washington (plus an extra 4th round pick next year). Free agency: On D, sign Suh, McCourty, and Tony Carter from Denver (3rd CB). Release Allen, allow Paea, Williams, Peanut and Briggs to walk. On O, release Mills and allow Garza to walk. Sign AQ Shipley and Doug Free. Probably unrealistic from a salary perspective, but I can dream a bit.
  20. http://www.quickmeme.com/img/54/5458e1dbe4ec62c7ba68593396f81f8433841ce897284e99ccf769e3f65b1424.jpg
  21. Maybe that will get Virginia's attention.
  22. Jesus- Davey Lopes, Dave Martinez, Doug Dascenzo....all we need is Mitch Webster, Jerome Walton, and Dwight Smith and I will be magically transported back to elementary school and junior high. EDIT: And can we sub-in Berryhill and Wrona for Hank White?
