  1. Good point. I guess I figured with so many roles to fill we might move a bit more quickly this time.
  2. I am surprised that we aren't hearing anything about Xanders from Detroit.
  3. I could be wrong, but I'd guess that the GM process happens quickly. We will see.
  4. Um, I disagree. There's been more GM candidates mentioned in connection with the Bears thus far. Yeah, they are moving on both fronts. I'd bet we will have a GM by Friday or Saturday and a coach a week or two later.

  6. Some guys can only be interviewed now or you have to wait for weeks. It is perfectly reasonable that they would interview these guys to get the process started so that once a GM is hired they will only have to let him interview these guys again. It's a lot better than not showing any interest in them and allowing potential candidates to be ignored. This. You're being completely unrealistic if you think its prudent to wait to interview HC's until after a GM is in place. You need to at least get in front of the HC candidates and get a sense of who they are / give them a sense of who you are.
  7. That's the thing - I am not sure I'd feel better about it if George were doing this without a learned consultant. I understand why people might view it as the Bears being incompetent, but I tend to see it as an acknowledgment by George of his limitations, the importance of making a good hire, and commitment to expend financial resources in a thoughtful and intelligent manner. EDIT: They certainly are not the first professional sports franchise to take this approach, BTW.
  8. There's a couple of ways to look at the McCaskey's in terms of their continued retention of Phillips: 1. It is admirable that they have someone between them and the operations of the team (albeit the wrong person). They aren't professionals in the area of franchise operation and/or personnel evaluation. That is, "they know what they do not know." 2. The McCaskey's don't want the pressure of being the every day face(s) of the franchise (a la Woody Johnson in NY, Jed York in SF, or Dan Snyder in DC). As such they retain a figurehead who allows them to plausibly keep their heads down until the "fit hits the shan"as it did this season.
  9. No one who knows what he is doing wants to work for bean counter.
  10. Everyone had nice things to say about Trestman when he was hired, largely in the context of his days as an offensive coordinator and QB coach. Manning gets a bum rap, IMO. His worst seasons tend to correspond with horrific injuries to his best weapons / o-line and/or a terrible o-line to begin with. He's not Peyton, but he's not Jeff George either. EDIT: I'd take Manning's career over Phil Rivers', which was the other option at that time. Hating on Eli is the meatball thing to do in NY. Their defense is a mess, their o-line sucks, and they just switched o-coordinators after years of the very blah Kevin Gilbride.
  11. I doubt that Phillips and Accorsi will be taking the meatball approach. The only team I can think of that wins in that manner is Seattle, though I suppose you could make an argument for New England's 4-headed RB monster approach as well.
  12. I like Ray a lot. He's a mean bastard with speed. He would be a freaking beast in a 3-4 set-up.
  13. We need to find a way to weave the whole "brought to justice" thing into the NSBB lexicon.
  14. When feeling shame, remember you aren't A-a-ron Kromer.
  15. Wait, let's let Jersey weigh in Listen you child porn advocating sociopath, did I offend you somehow? http://i2.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/facebook/000/552/692/aa2.png
  16. I didn't have the heart to tell you
  17. That sounds like a player-sourced story.
  18. Didn't we interview Ross last time? Hoping Accorsi is gonna be more than a highly paid letter of recommendation. Ross would be a nice get, IMO.
  19. Who cares if he yells at Carmen? That's a dumb reason to cut him.
  20. Highsmith has been with Packers' personnel dept for 16 years. That would be an interesting hire. McClay seems a bit shallow on the admin. side, at least relative to Highsmith. At minimum he's (Highsmith) worked in a good front office for a long while.
  21. I'm sure we could but I see no reason to think that's the best hire. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Their offense is awesome every year, even when Rodgers was out last season?
  22. Wonder if we could hire Clements away from GB to be the HC and call the plays...
