  1. And the Giants are one Bonds injury from being horrible. And the Mets are one Pedro injury...yadda yadda yadda
  2. Seems to me that Fielder is being rushed. They remind me of the Bulls: after a step in the right direction last season, they might take a step back this year.
  3. I know that we are all assuming the worst around here these days, but didn't Bruce contradict this statement by Kiley?
  4. I for two. Me for three. Four. Fif! Fif! Six!! Its "group think"!!
  5. You mean you do not want Tejada b/c you are "exhausted" of hearing about him? I would suggest turning away then.
  6. let me know when that happens. Cory Koskie is the difference maker, eh? :pukel:
  7. Its a bunch of papers with big and important sounding words on written on them, but that's not important right now... :jocolor:
  8. Two things: 1) "projected" 2) Thank Dusty
  9. Meche: http://www.baseball-reference.com/m/mechegi01.shtml That's ugly.
  10. If he cannot learn to deal with that sort of issue and concentrate on himself then he has bigger problems. why? where did i say it would affect his play on the field? all i'm saying is that if you perceived that an organization screwed over a family member, would you think very highly of that organization? If its no going to effect his performance on the field, then who cares what he thinks of MacPhail of Hendry? Isn't his performance what counts?
  11. Did the Cubs organization really treat Corey that poorly? I don't think they did... Yeah, the only thing Corey can really claim mistreatment from is the fans. I don't know if it qualifies as mistreatment, but he was grossly misused, and then scapegoated. He and Walker have been the Sammy and Farnsworth of 2005/2006. And in many ways, this all goes back to when Dusty inexplicably pulled him aside on the field for what looked like lesson time, after he won a game with a walkoff homer. Prior to that, he was still doing some things right. That's a good point. I don't think Eric will see it that way, but I think that's the way it is. The Cubs brought back guys like Neifi, Rusch, and others who were the real problem (not producing with too much PT) and seem to have a crusade to get rid of 2 perceived problems, at any cost, in Patterson and Walker, just like Sosa and Farnsworth before them. I really don't see any argument that Corey was mistreated. After his performance, he had no business being recalled from AAA. Whatever his fate, Corey brought it on himself with poor performance. To blame Cubs management would be ridiculous. Agreed. I don't know how you blame Hendry or Dusty for Cory's poor performance. He was doing just fine under the Hendry/Dusty regime in 03' until he was injured. He was mediocre in 04', and stunk up the joint last year.

  13. That's just silly. You have zero real knowledge of how the correspondance went down. On top of that, all indications from the glimpses of media coverage show us that Baltimore has a higher asking price for Tejada than the market is willing to pay (not just the Cubs, but all other interested parties). Why are people so quick to assume Hendry is to blame for not making deals happen? It takes two to tango they say, so folks need to stop pretending Hendry's dancing with himself. Why are people so quick to defend Hendry at all times, when he has done jack to improve this team for the 2nd straight year. Folks need to stop pretending like Hendry is "God" because of what happened in 2003, and look at the overall picture, and quite frankly the picture is pretty damn ugly. The Hendry defenders are grossly outnumbered by his detractors, FYI.
  14. He's probably seen Meat and Potatos Man's avatar: http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=2324
  15. There's like fifteen different depth charts floating around out there. This is getting annoying. Is it late-February yet?
  16. I would extend Prior, but only for 3 additional years. I love him; he's great; he's still a pitcher.
  17. Agreed, but if adding Barrett to a package of prospects would net us Tejada, and we could then in turn sign Molina, I would be okay with that. Not a likely scenario, however. Would you do a deal of Barrett and prospects for Tejada and Javy Lopez, w/ Balt. eating some of Javy's contract?
  18. You should have just thought that instead of posting that if that's what you wanted. Opps, there's another post about Molina...it's going to be up just a little longer now. I say we work to keep this alive. Molina for catcher!!!
  19. Not necessarily at this point. I can see the Cubs having no issue giving Prior one year deals for the next 2 seasons, say $5M for 2006, and another $8M for 2007 if he has a good 2006. Where it will get really interesting is after the 2007 season when the Cubs have Prior under control for 1 more season. If he refuses their offer for a multi-year deal at that point, then a trade will be probably be made. The Cubs have never been in a hurry in the MacPhail era to go the multi-year route until it is absolutely a necessity. Think of all the 1-year deals signed by Wood and the expected 1-year deals signed by Patterson and Zambrano. It was the year before free agency where Wood, Lee, Ramirez and Barrett got their multi-year deals.[/quote That's right - I keep forgetting that we "control" him for two more years. So the recalcitrants should save the picthforks and torches for next year, eh? :axe: :protest:
  20. Modzilla's avatar is the coolest one on this bd. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=900
  21. That's a good point. I also like craig's notion that a guy who is truly "clutch" may be one who simply performs at normal levels in abnormal situations. I might buy that. That said, I think its fair to say that the Sox had an abnormal amount of clutch hits and pitching performances during their playoff run.
  22. I think it has more to do with knowing he will get WAY more than $2.75M by filing for arbitration. define "WAY." this early on in prior's career, i can't believe he's going to be getting anything crazy. I know Hendry and MacPhail hate arbritation so I wouldn't be surprised if they try to sign him to a 3 year deal to cover him up until he is a FA. I can't say I am too sure on the numbers but even at $4M this year he would seem like a bargain and that is almost a 50% raise. Life will really get interesting if Prior refuses their overtures for an extension...
  23. Depends on the relevant collective bargaining agreement, but it sounds kosher.
  24. Could you explain this further? What he essentially meant was that Levine stated that Prior, Wood, and Z were untouchables and that JH would not even think about trading any of them. A week or two later, he reported that Prior had been offeredto the O's in the Tejada negotiations, and that JH was willing to shop him. This was later shot down by several media outlets.
