  1. That made me laugh for some reason. I feel bad for saying this since the guy is new, but I haven't seen Modzilla for a while and was hoping for a cameo appearance.
  2. That list is long, but distinguished... (some one finsh it! Its a Kevin Foster fastball over the middle! )
  3. That would be Berman's nose, no? "He could...go...all..the...way!!!!"
  4. Please Dusty, let the kid play. Just be patient. And stop setting him up to fail in with your comments to the press - PLEASE!!!!
  5. Looks like my little theory is standing on wobbly ground now that Dusty has once agian endorsed "Mr. Everything". Jinx, eh?
  6. With Marshall earning a spot in the rotation, Cedeno and Murton starting, and Pagan and (perhaps) Theriot making the team, are we finally seeing this franchise go in the direction most have wished for, giving young and home-grown talent a chance to play? I think we are seeing a change in philosophy here, and I am very excited about it. Thoughts?
  7. And I'll be there in section 205 to witness it...
  8. 359/404/555/959 in the minors Sheesh, that kid is good. I'd do it. Much harder to find MIFers who can rake like that. Forget EPatt - trade him as part of a package for an OFer who can help in RF.
  9. That's interesting. Church also isn't as young as I thought he was. He's 27 I think. BTW, here's a new nickname for Berman: Larry "Eleanor" Bigbie
  10. I was thinking more along the lines of "I have three straws in my hand. Each of you will draw one..." I bet Dusty wishes they had a 3 sided coin. :D What was the thing on South Park years ago with John Smith from The Cure? : "I'll rochambeau you for it!"
  11. ' I am just curious - why do you think that is? I mean, he has been with several teams (http://www.baseballreference.com/h/harrile01.shtml) so does that mean every GM that signed him is incompetent?
  12. I agree. It sounds to me like the mother was more than happy to keep him away from them in the beginning (16 years ago when he was a nobody), then started going after his money when he got rich. Randy is no saint (and this story has come out before), but the mother playing the "poor victim" here doesn't fly. I'm a firm believe in parents paying for their children's education, but that shady day care as a teen could have paid for community college. Agreed. I am not sure why Randy is being slammed here. If you read between the lines, it looks like the mother is using her kid to get more cash. While I do not agree with Randy's decision not to be part of the child's life, I wasn't there so I don't know the real circumstances. If he is paying his fair share (relative to his salary) to support her, the rest is between him, his concious, and his G-d.
  13. And for the predictions that Grissom would make the team no matter what. I beleive one of us even agreed to change his/her user name... :) And the predictions that Grissom would start over Murton. Talk about pushing the panic button..... I was saying the above in jest, but it does seem to me that we are (finally) witnessing a change in organizaional philosophy here. Its certainly a welcome one, and this positive step should be noted just as we all note the steps they have taken that many or all of us have found abhorent.
  14. Cubs: 1) Ryno 2) Hawk 3) Suttcliffe (some major man love here) 4) Bill Buckner 5) Mark Grace In my lifetime: 1) Ryno 2) Maddux 3) Puckett 4) Winfield 5) Griffey
  15. Nice thoughts on Marquis. I'll always remember his role in the 97' Series vs. FL. Also very glad to read that we are giving these kids a chance. You never know who might turn into something more than you thought he could be.
  16. What would you have gotten for TW?
  17. And for the predictions that Grissom would make the team no matter what. I beleive one of us even agreed to change his/her user name... :)
  18. Sounds like the prospect(s) we got back have some potential. Also sound slike Jim loves the Fish and O's as trade partners.
  19. Murton, IMO, is farther along than Church based on his performance last year and in ST. Isn't Guillen hurt? And Soriano could have 30 errors in LF this year, to go with his .320 OBP in that cavernous park. Just me, but I like our situation better. I think you are being a bit hyper-critical here. I agree our OF situation is not what it could or should be, but I disagree its the worst in the league. It's not the worst in the league but it's not even close to being middle of the pack. Considering our payroll...it's pretty bad. Agreed. I was comparing only to Wash., but overall, you are correct, IMO.
  20. Great news. I know its premature, but if it does happen, I give Dusty/Jim credit for making the right call.
  21. Dude. Fantastic sig. Thanks! It is from a website that is dedicated to firing Carr. http://www.toleratelosingatmichigan.com I know this is :offtopic:, but I am a Mich. football fan, and I cannot think of anything I disagree with more than firing Carr.

  23. Choi doesn't offer the flexibility of being able to play the OF and 3B. Personally, I'd rather have Choi and just put Perez at 3rd if we need someone. I'm sure he's better defensively than Mabry. I do like Mabry as a pinch hitter though, so I would propose we get a good CF when the roster cuts come, cut Grissom and use Hairston as the 5th OF. It's too late to do that now though. Yeah, my issue with bringing Choi in again is whether he can even function as a guy who only gets 5 ABs a week. Not as easy as it sounds.
  24. Paraphrasing here, but he is quoted (a bit of context I think) as saying Marshall and Guzman - based on their sterling performances yesterday - are in the running for the 5th starter spot irrespective of their exprience or lack thereof (Marshall has only 10 starts at AA). He said, "there are guys at AAA who can't throw strikes." Sounds encouraging, especially if you are like me and want to see Guzman or Marshall in that 5th spot.
  25. That's what he said just a minute ago on ESPN Radio 1000.
