    Its funny, but I was thinking the same thing that Hoops is but didn't want to get my hopes up anymore. I hadn't thought about the particulars, but in support of Hoops' theory, I note that Mateo was just called up. Could it be showcase time? How about Cedeno, Mateo, and one of Hill/Marshall/Marmol for Tejada?

    Well, it is only 2006 ... :P ... but sadly, there's hasn't been much competition in terms of smarter maneuvers. This is awesome, too: A couple of weeks ago, Dodgers manager Grady Little said of Izturis, "Even on nights when he doesn't get any hits, it's like he's driving in runs with his glove. That means as much to us as a guy hitting .350." He obviously spent too much time with Jim after he got run out of Beantown.

    Thanks. What do you make of this? I mean, we have Guzman and Ryu in AAA after cups of coffee up here earlier this season. I have never heard Mateo mentioned as a potential helper to the Big Club (at least not in 06') until now. Makes me wonder what value the org. puts on Ryu and Guzman at this point.

    I think if you give Nady consistent ABs you can reasonably expect .280 / .345. He's got more value than our Jacques does, that's for certain.

    He's not great, but he can still be a good platoon partner or right=handed pop off the bench. There has to be a mkt for that amongst contenders, no?

    Saved for August waiver deal? One would hope. Its highly unlikely anyone thinks enough of him to block the trade. On second thought, he will only be owed a measly hundred-thousand by the time a waiver deal goes through.
