  1. Kent is more than all of those people combined Kent is the lovechild of Mia Hamm and Nomar.
  2. My own feeling is that this becomes an option worth possibly exploring if the Cubs bomb in the first half of 2007. That is to say, all the things that can go wrong do (Lee can't recover, Soriano reverts back to 2004-2005, same with DeRosa, Marquis and/or Lilly bomb, etc.). If the Cubs are toiling in the cellar again, you start exploring a trade of Zambrano (among others) to "re-load" on prospects, IMO. He's going to be owed a truck-load of money and it might not be in the best interest of the Cubs to pay it to him if they have no hope of contending with their current roster. Get what you can out of him and re-group. If the Cubs are tanking the first half, Zambrano could be the player that helps the Cubs unload Marquis and Derosa's contracts. Good point. If we stink we might as well unload some bad contracts with him and get some young guys who can help in 08'.
  3. fun fact. you know who has more RBI than Wade Boggs? Eric Karros. would you vote him in the hall of fame? If I had the option of having Boggs during his best season or Dawson, I'd take Dawson. But to each his own. Fun questions: How many times was Chili Davis one of the thop three players in his league? How many ABs did Mr. Davis have as a DH?
  4. Heard it this morning on 1000's Sportscenter update. Gotta' think that stockpile of young arms is being dangled in TB's direction, no?
  5. Now that Zito is off the mkt, could the Rangers be suitors here?
  6. Zito must be counting his lucky stars here - he already lives in 'Frisco, goes to play for a team with a rabid fanbase in a great ballpark, and still gets a boatload of cash. EDIT: Plus he gets out of the AL.
  7. Is this the same Pat Riley who coached two of the three dirtiest and most physical teams (the Knicks and Heat of the 90's) in history? The same guy who employed Anthony Mason (twice), John Starks, Xavier McDaniel, Charles Oakley, Doc Rivers (underrated for his dirty play), and other assorted goons?
  8. He also broadcast Yankees games when I was growing up, teaming with the great Phil Rizzuto. Get well soon, Bobby.
  9. Bet they'd change their tune if he were offered an extension for Wells-like money.
  10. Ohh I didn't realize by "rumors floated" you meant trade scenarios fans pulled out of their behinds. I'm sorry. And I too am sorry - I guess I thought this was the transactions forum on a message bd. Forgive me.
  11. Replying to the title of this thread: "Please, there are ladies present!" On a serious note, this could permanently harm the game.
  12. Even funnier - I was talking about the same three-way deal you were discussing in another thread. You know, the one where Atl gets Badelli plus relievers from us, TB gets LaRoche and prospects from both teams (none of whom are named Pie), and we get Andruw Jones. That's the proposed/rumored scenario, and IMO, its a no-brainer for the Cubs. Try reading what I wrote before criticizing.
  13. Let him walk and put Pie in center. He'll easily be a Type A FA, so we will be well compensated. If we are only giving up two middle relievers and a pitching prospect to get this done, its a no-brainer, IMO. EDIT: And I just thought of a great sophmoric response to the title of this thread: "That's what she said." Offering two middle relievers and a pitching prospect won't even be enough to talk to Schuerholz's secretary. Funny, but that is contradicted by the rumors floated earlier in this thread, if you wish to go back and read them.
  14. .360? I mean realistically that's probably as much as we can expect, right? If you hit Murt or DeRosa behind him (Murt, please), then you could be setting up Lee, ARam, Jacque, etc. pretty nicely.
  15. Adam's name always reminds me of Scarface. "I bury those cocka-LaRoches!"
  16. He's been clearly better than Manning, especially down the stretch. If he plays in the p-offs like he has in the last four games, he'll be fine.

  18. Holy crip, if all Atl wants is relief help we should get in on this action right now. How's this lineup look?: Soriano Murt Lee A. Jones ARam Barrett DeRosa Izturis
  19. If we get Jones in that deal, than the answer is "yes".
  20. Sadly, I'd do that trade. Actually no I wouldn't. Actually yes I would. Crap. No comment My love for Z notwithstanding, I'd do that deal in a heartbeat.
  21. There's luck involved in baseball, we just don't know how to measure it yet. Until we can, I think we have to give credit to the people who build the winners. I agree that it is intellectually dishonest to do otherwise.
  22. Would you do Prior for Tejada at this point? I think I would. Baltimore sure wouldn't. Agreed. By the way, the title of this thread could spun into so many sophmoric meanings.
