  1. I have the same feeling about the Heat that I did about the Pistons in the late 80's and early 90's, if you catch my drift.
  2. Winner. Anyone else notice how Lou isn't working his starters anywhere near as hard as Dusty? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure what the difference is here.
  3. Murton isn't going anywhere. He's young, inexpensive, talented, and under the team's control for what, three more years? He played in right the other night, and Lou has shown he isn't afraid to play younger guys. Jacque's a goner (eventually), and I for one feel good about it.
  4. I'll take Matt=Alou. alou is better than murton He wasn't really arguing that Matt is as good a hitter as Alou, was he? I'd be satisfied if he put 2/3 of Alou's nos. during his prime years.
  5. Baker took CPatt and Pie aside and showed them the way to be a good ML hitter. Its really fortunate that Pie came up this year and not when Dusty was here. The difference between these guys is palpable, and I strongly suspect this team is at least in part still hungover from Dusty's teachings.
  6. Felix swings at too much high crap. Oh well - he'll learn.
  7. That was interesting. Hernandez is still a horrendous ump though.
  8. I take back all the nasty things I said about Ronny over the last week or so.
  9. If this is going to be Jason's pattern - throw lots of pitches, but give up 1 or 2 runs over 6 innings - I will be very happy.
  10. We really need to move Barrett out from behind the plate. He's a very good hitter and he's patient; you could extend his production by two years or more if you put him in left or at 2B, IMO.
  11. At a minimum, Wainwright, Duncan and anyone else who is young with a high ceiling.
  12. Seriously, based on your comments in this thread and in another where you argued this could be the worst team in franchise history, I think Tim should crown you King of Hyperbole.
  13. More or less what I think as well, though I do think they should cut out dead weight in the form of Cedeno, Ohman, and Jones, if at all possible.
  14. His ass needs to be in Double A. He's complete garbage. He's become Neifi with a better glove.
  15. Why is Murton pissing you off? Is it because he's been thrust only into end game situations as a young player against pitchers he's never faced in his only AB of the game? Is it because Lou is putting him in that spot? Is it because the Cubs system hates OBP and tries to remove that quality from his plate approach? Which one is it? That's pissy excuse. He almost never swings at the first pitch, but he did here. He blew it. It doesn't mean he stinks, but this particular AB wa his fault and no one else.
  16. I dunno how saves are any measure of a pen. You can't get a save unless your team has the lead.
  17. I think you have a very good point here.
  18. Day game after night game folks. This is pretty normal, and I love that The Riot continues to play and leadoff.
  19. File this under "Who cares".
  20. Yankees have finally realized he's their best hitter. He's not going anywhere.
  21. Wow. You'd think that Gilick wouldn't be happy about this.
