  1. Horton and Little could potentially help, but, I've no faith that they're alive let alone throw a pitch or another pitch at the major league level.
  2. After blowing x number of very winnable games, it'll come together, however, the early blown games will cost the Cubs later.
  3. Of the last off season acquisitions the only BP arm I'd consider keeping is Thielbar. Even though he could not throw many strikes today he's got decent stuff. I think he'll be okay, don't have any such hopeful notions for the likes of Pressly, Rea or Morgan.
  4. Thought Auburn was fairly vulnerable yet, I've never really believed in MSU. Thought they way over performed, it really was a great coaching job by Izzo. Sucks Pearl is going to the Final Four, I'm fairly confident they'll get blasted.
  5. And the year before, sign/trade for a bunch of bargain bin relievers, get ripped, blow games. Rinse repeat, rinse repeat, rinse repeat. I've had it with this cheap-ass ownership and their minion in Jed.
  6. I'd be surprised if he makes it through this season.
  7. I guess even the Braves are not immune, Neris blew opening day. I'd be willing to bet, the Braves, unlike the Cubs, will not give Neris as long a leash. He'll be gone well before June.
  8. At least Pressly doesn't walk the world like Neris, granted he's throwing batting practice still, not as frustrating as watching walk after walk after walk.
  9. Pressly this year, Neris last year, Fulmer two years ago, different names same script - get shelled early, have a streak of effectiveness, build a little trust, get shelled again.
  10. Has Shaw, thus far, hit one ball hard? I know it's very difficult and all but, horsefeathers, I'd like to see one "top" prospect do something early. PCA, after a long period, came around, Shaw, like him early, looks to be adapting/adjusting, it's going to a be long time before we see anything from Shaw. Isn't it?
  11. There's been speculation about Villanova also, he's been at odds with the football HC over NIL money and the AD just left for SMU.
  12. Maryland is done, super early prediction Illini >> Maryland next season, the Terrapins dominance of the Illini will end. In addition to Queen and Reese, the Terps may also be losing their coach, the Illini are going to wipe the floor with them.
  13. I think it's addition by subtraction with Jakucionis leaving, his bad TO's fed into runs that put them into big holes from which they never could recover. The game against Kentucky being the latest example.
  14. Issues I have with the likes of Pressly, Thielbar, Morgan and Brasier is none of them have plus stuff, they're all bargain bin types. It never works, the bullpen may eventually sort itself out and be effective but, how many games are going to be blown in the process? What, numbers, analytics suggest this is an effective approach? By he way, Pressly' baseball reference page, the player similarity scores? Of course, Hector horsefeathers Neris is #2.
  15. That's what I was thinking, he's Neris redux written all over him, instead of walking the world, batters will be mashing. We all know the story, get pummeled early, blow multiple games, have an effective stretch, then back to giving up costly runs.
  16. It's shocking, don't know if it was finally good scouting, evaluation, etc. or just luck Buzelis fell into their laps. Wonder if they had their usual Williams/Phillips/Terry type in queue had Buzelis not fallen.
  17. KJ leaving may turn out to be a net positive, believe even Underwood will notice his deficiencies outweigh the positives. Believe he'll go hard after a PG with good handles and plays defense.
  18. I guess so, I still would have liked to have seen an attempt at something different. I would have sent two trying blitz him maybe, even give a hard foul going for steal, anything to try and knock him off.
  19. While Underwood has raised the floor, I do not believe he's the coach to get them over the hump. Over and over again we see his coaching decencies, once in a great while, such as the Purdue game. We'll see him make an effective adjustment. Yesterday, it more of the usual, opponent gets comfortable, Brea, and no attempt is made to throw something different at him. No doubling, trying to wall Brea up, nothing, and it was a very winnable game that's the most frustrating aspect.
  20. That may be a factor, have not really dived into any film from his play in Europe to know if carelessness with the ball is a consistent issue. If, it is, I'd rather he work on his handles in the NBA developmental league than throw away games for the Illini in a short college season.
  21. I'd like to see Riley stay, he's not ready for the NBA of course, the NBA oftentimes drafts on potential. Riley will get NIL money, another year could push him into the lottery. TO machine KJ can go bye-bye, his careless TO's put them in the early hole from which they never recovered.
  22. Another bad start to the second half, I'd say this game is over, it's just a matter by how much the Illini will lose. Really irritating, this Kentucky team is not objectively better, the Illini just keep throwing the ball to them. I don't get it, it's not like Kentucky is some defensive amoeba, overplaying the passing lanes or anything.
  23. If Hurley wasn’t such a big dickhead, I might feel a little empathy at his “emotional” post game press conference. Glad he’s done and gone from this tournament.
  24. Much like yesterday, think there's good chance of 2 more Big Ten teams, possibly 3 added to the Sweet 16.
