  1. Anyone else know the ball Turner hit was gone off the bat? I'm proud to say I did.
  2. I read that somewhere, I'm certain, if at all possible, the Cubs will face Skenes. They've never missed him, why start now?
  3. It'd be tough to watch, hopefully, they'll be light at the end of the tunnel for Cassie.
  4. This aligns with development of a players in any sport, we'd like to see a linear ascension. When, in reality, the curve towards being good looks like something drawn with a spirograph.
  5. Feels as if it's been this way all season, very rarely have the Cubs missed the opposition' best starters. Think I read they'll miss Skenes when they face the Pirates, which, I believe, will be the first time the Cubs have missed a Skenes start since he came up. Not too worried about Littell, appears he doesn't miss many bats and has given up 26 HR in 133 IP, haven't looked at the splits. The high HR total may be a function of where TB has played homes.
  6. Not, that the Cubs have been able to do anything with any sort of pitching, it still horsefeathers sucks they face Lodolo and Abbott while Brewers face a continued string lousy pitching. Guess, the third game in Atlanta the Brewers are facing, for the first time in a week, a not so crappy starter in Strider.
  7. He couldn't square up any of the meatballs he saw Saturday. Even on consecutive pitches, Friday though, he did hit balls with >= 100 EV. Offensively he's definitely under performed even modest expectations, don't believe there's much of an argument there, with the glove, I'd say he's over performed modest expectations.
  8. Was wondering about line up construction now that Happ is maybe starting to get hot. Time to move him back to the lead off spot? Then teams will not be able seemingly exploit match ups late in games. Move Busch to clean up, maybe, Nico/Kelly in the 5th spot and PCA to the 6th spot, you'll have (L-R),L,R,L,R,L. I've read that line up construction doesn't matter all that much. Nevertheless, it appears as if teams are really taking advantage of all the left handed bats at the top of the line up. Then again, this presently may look bad because 1-2-3 are all slumping.
  9. I still don't get why Jed acquired Pressly at all, he has access to the data, did he think Pressly was going age like a fine wine?
  10. One of worrisome things is the dip in velocity otherwise, the numbers that should be low are lower than last season. The numbers that should be higher are higher than last season. I don't believe this is a Pressly like situation where the peripherals strongly suggested a continued down turn in performance and Jed seemingly ignored them.
  11. Is Boston really that much of a concern, isn't their GM, Breshlow, cut from same the cloth as Hoyer?
  12. Juan Pierre?
  13. Checking out some of the Cardinals-Padres, Pozo just might be the fattest player in baseball. Moises notwithstanding, I was giving Pozo the benefit of the doubt with what appeared to be a baggy uniform. Then I saw a close up, that uniform aint baggy. Cardinals down 7-0 putting on the fakest of rallies loading the bases with no outs? All those dumping on Thielbar yesterday, Morejon didn't record an out, 2 runs, left with the bases loaded, score is 7-2.
  14. Two of three, keep playing 600 ball and everything will be fine. That aside, any decent non-slumping team would have rolled over the Orioles on Saturday and Sunday, Orioles starter on Friday was really good, I'll give them that. Yesterday and today? Cubs were given a plethora of pitches to crush and they missed most of them, just a weak ass pathetic display of hitting.
  15. Same thing I was thinking, not only is he a .088 hitter, he's truly bad, wasn't even good in college. Did manage to put together a couple of decent minor league seasons 4 years ago, outside of that, not much.
  16. Dude give him almost a BP FB there, it's about horsefeathers time SOMEONE got a hit. Looking at the video that was a BP FB, much like the numerous ones the Orioles threw today that weren't crushed.
  17. The opposition bullpen making a mistake? Did that just happen?
  18. Finally a Cub hitter doesn't miss a meatball.
  19. The ball was absolutely smoked, it's this kind of a win that could spark a hot streak.
  20. When you hang a slider and you're a non-Cubs hitter that's what happens. Cubs hitter x would have fouled that off or swung through it.
  21. It's just amazing that the opposition' bullpen comes in and they're up 0-2 in a nanosecond. Cubs bullpen can't find the strike zone area code with the first hitter.
  22. Just one more horsefeathers run would be big.
  23. The bullpen with this lead off walk thing is not going to play well.
  24. Should kept the bunt on even with two strikes offering the slightest chance at something productive. Instead we get the usual K.
