  1. I don't think there's any question that the Steelers are probably my most hated AFC team now. From what I've seen the cheap shot artists aren't limited to Harrison, there's a good many of them on the Steeler defense. Who won was immaterial to me but, it's a shame when someone who plays as Harrison does wins Championships.
  2. I'm going into the 2009 season expecting nothing from Harden, I believe Lou would be wise to assume he's not a candidate for the rotation.
  3. I don't know if it's by design or not but, I'm glad Hendry chose to wait Towers out. Towers is seeking a King's Ransom for a player who, at this point, isn't worth it, 3-5 years ago Towers may have been able to command such a catch for Peavy but, not now. By waiting Towers out Hendry', if he does trade for Peavy, won't have to empty the farm system to do so. I believe he'll trade for Peavy without giving up Vitters.
  4. The talk of Warner and Leftwich doesn't make sense to me, most especially if they're going to be put behind the same OL and have the same set of WR options. Both would end performing about as well as Orton. Why not focus upon upgrading the OL and finding some WR's who can get open and, when they do, catch the ball. Which leads me to question for the football experts - why do rebuilding teams oftentimes focus on the QB position when their offensive and defensive lines are so poor? Take the Lions, I believe many mock drafts have them taking Stafford with the #1 pick, why not go for the top offensive guard or tackle?
  5. Is it safe to say the Sun is beginning to set on the Red Wings dominance of the Central Division and Western Conference? Yes, they have a very good record this season but, I don't believe they're quit as good as it might suggest.
  6. Typical, we all know when comes to in-game adjustments and smart play calling Lovie and his staff are solely lacking.
  7. This Celtic team at 24-2 is one game ahead of the 95-96 Bulls while I don't expect them to keep up their current pace, I was wondering how they would fare against the 95-96 Bulls. Being a Bulls fan I of course, don't think they're is good as the 95-96 Bulls, just don't believe they're as solid defensively as Bulls nor do I believe they would be able to handle MJ.
  8. Looked up Conklin' and Osgood SV% - didn't realize how shaky they are. However at the moment the Red Wings are the better team and I still expect them to win the division. Within a couple of years the Wings will be looking up at the Blackhawks. My mother-in-law who's a Johnny-Come-Lately hockey fan (last decade with the Red Wings success) has brutal reality coming to her in the near future. I've mentioned to her the Blackhawks are amongst the youngest teams in the league and their arrow is pointing up. Not only is this so They have not only youth on their side, it's youth with extraordinary talent - Toews, Kane, etc. She just blows me off because her Red Wings have been so dominant.

  10. I'm not so convinced the failure to complete the deal for Peavy is bad. Even had the deal gone down, the Cubs wouldn't have been getting the 2006-2007 Peavy - that Peavy was worth the excess Towers was asking for - not the 2008 Peavy, who I'm also convinced is not 100% healthy.
  11. Bradley being a type B also means less of hit on the Cubs draft - supplemental 1st round pick.
  12. For the record the Cubs have won the last two division championships and the Cardinals haven't. The Cardinals may do somethings better than we do, but trading for a guy like Khalil Greene isn't it. The Cardinals have won 10 World Series titles since our last one. Division champions don't mean squat, and the people that brag about them are the people whose teams got swept in the first round. This is such a Cardinals move, picking up a guy with tons of potential when his value is at its absolute lowest. Not that I completely agree with Meph that Greene is an uber-stub, but I think Greene will have a really really good year with St. Louis. Tony Womack and Ray King sure qualified...
  13. good news is we can shoot and we can score inside. bad news is that our interior defense sucks. if we can't stop anyone, we might have to pull simpson off the bench. na dont burn him. he will be more important in the coming years when we are good. legion will be enough to get us in the tourny this year, which is all we could hope for. Can Legion create off the dribble? If so, he'll add something the Illini were missing last night, with someone able to create his own shot I say they win last night.
  14. Chris Bosh plz Bosh, Amare or Boozer in that order are the guys I would love to see paired with Rose. Well, assuming Lebron is unrealistic Of course. Saw Lebron on Sports Center yesterday, they're all torqued up about him being a Knick but, something he said was interesting - his FA destination will largely depend upon who he'll play with. Currently, the Knicks and Cavaliers have no one close to a Derrick Rose nor will they have in the near future. I think Lebron is smart enough to know that playing alongside Derrick Rose will get him closer to an NBA Championship than whomever his Knick or Cavalier teammates will end up being.
  15. I don't known if this has mentioned but, Noah could very well turn out to be the worst 1st Rounder in Bulls' history. I wouldn't go so far as worst in NBA history because I believe there have been worse 1st Rounders than Noah.
  16. After having read that the Marlins are looking for a big package for Hermida I've resigned myself to the fact that the Cubs are going to be unable to trade for him. It's too bad for, he perfectly fits the mold of what Lou wants next season - young, athletic and a LHB - I don't doubt he'd have a big season playing half his game in Wrigley. That leaves FA options of Bradley, Abreu and Ibanez, Bradley, I believe, is the best choice followed by Abreu and Ibanez - I hope we don't see him in RF next season, why do I keeping thinking this is who Hendry' going to ink? Also need to figure that whoever Hendry does sign should be someone that will not cost him any picks. I'd bet the Yankees would offer arbitration for Abreu. Bradley and Ibanez, probably will not be offered arby. From the Elias thread I see Ibanez is an A Type FA that's means a 1st Rd draft choice right? Bradley' a B does that involve the sandwhich picks? Oh, I didn't know Bradley was a "B". Figured he'd be an "A". I'd guess that puts Bradley in the driver's seat. I was thinking along the same lines if so, may here would be pleased, including me.

  19. Dan Hampton the other day on the Score basically told Harris and company to shut up and play. It was great, he called out Urlacher saying Mr. Superstar LB why don't you do something besides talk. Of the DL he said why don't you quit getting stood up at the line of scrimmage and get to the QB. That being said I don't expect a change, I believe, as the previous five or so QB's have done, Rodgers to have his best QB rating of season. How can he not? He'll ample time to sit in the pocket and the Bears secondary cannot cover anyone.
  20. While I still don't like the idea of re-signing Dempster, I'd live with more money over less years, don't want the Cubs stuck with an expensive 5 yr contract.
  21. ibanez is only athletic in the sense that he is a professional athlete. Here's to hoping Hendry can "wow" the Marlins for Hermida because, there's no benefit to wasting money on Ibanez.
  22. So, if deal goes down, does this mean the Padres will be looking to move Greene?
  23. Doesn't matter, he be singing a different tune after they get their ass kicked in the playoffs. If Orton doesn't get hurt on cheap shot by Lions and plays do the Bears win this game?
  24. What do you mean not Super Bowl calibre? Which group of AFC teams are so far ahead of them that they have no chance to advance to the Super Bowl? Maybe last year I would have agreed with you, but not this year. If SD ever got their act together they'd blow this team off the field.
  25. Their 8-0, soon to be 9-0 but, this Titan team is nowhere near a Super Bowl caliber team, good but not great defense and not a single standout play maker on offense.
