  1. The story of the season, I'm certain in nearly every game the above situation has occurred, it's got to drive Nagy crazy. I'd like think Pace sees the same things...
  2. I would as well however, for all of Mahomes' greatness and Mitch' failures they've both have won the same of number of SB's - 0. A dynamic HOF who wins lots of games along way pounding GB and shutting fucks like Rodgers and Amos up, sounds good to me.
  3. I've been struggling with this too and I think it's clear they share the blame in some proportion. But I still think Mitch is the main problem. To be blunt, I think he's a dummy and I think Nagy is really struggling to design an offense around a guy who doesn't know where to go with the ball, can't read a defense, makes the wrong decisions on the read option, etc. When the stars align and you have a wide open WR streaking into the endzone, Mitch airmails it. You see a lot of single option plays where it's just designed to go to one guy with no other options. He's not calling those plays for no reason - he's calling them because he knows Mitch can't read the defense and throw it to the right guy when he has multiple options. Other teams know this and I think it just compounds the issue. The narrative that Nagy is just stubborn and would rather watch his offense repeatedly humiliate itself on national TV rather than call plays that suit Mitch's strengths seems lazy to me - I don't buy it. I put the blame 60-70% on Mitch for the offensive struggles this year. Out of qualified QB's, Mitch is 28th out of 32 in QB rating. He's 32nd out of 32 in yards per attempt. Despite being last among all QB's in yards per attempt, he's still only 20th in the league in completion percentage. He's 29th out of 32 in QBR. And this is with 4 games with a rating over 115! Think about how bad he's been in all the other games to end up where he is. He's not just below average, I think you could make a decent argument that he's the worst starting QB in the NFL. Where I do think Nagy horsefeathers up was not recognizing this going into the season. I think he deluded himself to thinking Mitch is going to take some big leap and he rolled out a gameplan week one that Mitch had 0% chance of being able to execute. Think about that game. Nagy comes in with a game plan calling for Mitch to throw it 50 times. The Packers defensive game plan was literally "Let Mitch play QB." They understood what Nagy didn't. With all that being said, I have no idea where they go from here. They were all in on Mitch and doubled down with the Mack trade. You have to hope for some miracle Tannehill-esque reclamation project. The future looks pretty grim for this team baring some kind of miracle. I agree with your take. Mitch is a dumb person. I also know that the coaching staff had big reservations about Mitch coming in. But they didn't have much of a choice since the team was locked into it. They could only try their best to get the most out of him, and they probably did that. They don't have anything resembling a good enough running game to do much of anything but hope the passing game could get them through the season. Mitch isn't average to below average. He's bad. He's missed so many should be touchdowns, and this team is still maybe 5-6 missed plays from him from being still in wild card contention. Nagy leaves a lot to be desired, but I think he's capable of progressing as a coach and deserves an opportunity to help pick and develop his guy. Pace leaves a lot to be desired, but this isn't a complete disaster of a roster. Let the two guys have a shot at becoming legends, and if it doesn't work out blow it up after 2022. Heard an interesting take on the Bears the other day, said if someone such as Derek Carr were the QB they'd be in the playoffs or in still in playoff contention. It's difficult to play the what if game however, one has to think Carr, being an average QB, wouldn't have missed on numerous TD passes.
  4. Some WR's who can actually catch the ball might help as well. I know Mitch sucks, it was garbage time, blah, blah, blah but, how can he make a better throw than he did to Robinson on the last series? On the sideline, drops it perfectly between two defenders and of course, Robinson drops the ball. He’s had a few drops, but Robinson is not the problem with the offense For the most part he's not the problem, the remainder of WR's cannot catch the ball, it's an impossible situation when you've got one reliable receiver.
  5. It's probably just me, tired of the endless comparisons to Mahomes and stories of Pace' draft mistake but, I've a feeling Mahomes is going to be the Dan Marino of the 20 teens to 20 twenties. Put up gobs of regular season numbers while never winning anything.
  6. How could one night, barring injury, ruin or make Mitch' progress?
  7. I mean, this is the same QB and playcaller that won 12 games last year. I know the defense gave them more short fields and scored points, but the offense last year did a decent job getting into the endzone, despite not a lot of yards. So, I guess there's hope there. There aren't many examples of a QB just "getting it" after 3 years. But ironically enough, the one shining example is Drew Brees. But he was really good his 3rd year (step back in 4th) and really took off obviously with a new team/coach. The numbers are pretty similar overall too. Brees (1st 3 years)- 21-21 record, 787-1282, 61.4 comp %, 8551 yards, 55 TD, 38 INTs, 202.5 yards per game, 6.67 yards per attempt. Trubs (1st 3 years)- 22-18 record, 785-1243, 63.1 ccomp %, 8347 yards, 48 TD, 29 INTs, 207.5 yards per game, 6.72 yards per attempt. That would be awesome but can we really hang our hat on pretty much extreme outliers? It's possible, Mitch aside, nearly everything that could go wrong did, the OL badly regressed, TE went poof, running game non-existent, WR's cannot catch the ball. If they can improve the OL and establish a running game we'll see improvement in Mitch.
  8. Or. even worse, sign Trubisky to an extension.
  9. Some WR's who can actually catch the ball might help as well. I know Mitch sucks, it was garbage time, blah, blah, blah but, how can he make a better throw than he did to Robinson on the last series? On the sideline, drops it perfectly between two defenders and of course, Robinson drops the ball.
  10. Gutless, dick-less, pieces of horsefeathers packed it in after the dumb ass running into the kicker. Does anyone on this team have any pride?
  11. I submit Pagano, at times, has been just as bad as Nagy, 3rd and long - let's sit back and give Mahomes, with speedy receivers, all day to throw. We've seen this over and over, what the hell is he thinking? Mack has been pretty much invisible, he's NOT going to get to anything ever this season, why not blitz?
  12. Just a slight overreaction on my part nevertheless, why the horsefeathers can't this team give Underwood 40 minutes game in game out? He mentioned that several times at the post game press conference - 40 minutes a game. Firing him would probably set the program back another 3+ years however, this under-performing [expletive] is getting real tiresome.
  13. Well, another shitty lack of effort loss to a terrible Missouri team for the Illini, much like the game vs. Miami. Underwood needs to fired right now, if not sooner, it's inexcusable to see such a nonchalant effort twice. You'll lose but, kids not trying or going 100% that's on the coach.
  14. I can't imagine Floyd is a candidate for an extension. Second on Floyd, think he's done.
  15. Its hard to know how much Helfrich is to blame. Wouldn't be surprised if he's kept... No one's going to be calling for his head. Even with Mitch bouncing back some, at the very least a replacement at QB coach seems easy. Maybe Helfrich takes some of the fall there too, though. Wouldn't utilizing Mitch' strengths from Day 1 be a big step in right direction? We know the OL needs some help but, one of the few positives has been the emergence of Miller and to a lesser extent, Horsted/Holtz, they may found something at TE.
  16. How much of it may be due to scheme change? The D has taken a slight step back that could be attributed to going from Fangio to Pagano, but Mack has absolutely disappeared Scheme change and the above are probably factors, however, I don't think the Packers, etc. can count on Mack being terrible again next season.
  17. I think you'll really see the schedule affect the Packers next year. Teams that win a bunch of close games and look like they do statistically typically see a big time regression. Was thinking the 49'ers might be a candidate for a big regression as well.
  18. This plus Mack will not be invisible, his ineffectiveness this season is combination of many things - him sucking, Hicks injury, etc. - but, it's not because of injury. He'll come back in a big way next year.
  19. What the hell? First of all, one of the INTs was a Hail Mary at the end of the half. Literally meant nothing to the final score. Secondly, the Bears have beaten 2 teams by double digits. One is in play for the #2 pick. There was 0 realistic chance they win that game yesterday by 10 points if they played next to flawlessly. You're probably correct, more a statement of frustration, fumbling, stumbling Bears can't get out of their own way, Mitch misses open receivers, they drop TD passes (Ridley), all the usual [expletive], is aggravating.
  20. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/201912150gnb.htm#all_player_offense - What a frustrating loss, Bears dominating every place except, of course, where it matters most, the scoreboard. If Mitch doesn't throw 2 int. the Bears win this game by double digits. Losers, giving away games, especially to the Packers.
  21. How has this Packer team won 11 games? The numbers suggest it's average to below average team, must be TO margin.
  22. It was a refreshing turn of events, game should have not been that close, Illini outrebounded UM 44-28, had 20 FT to their 6, what kept it close was the Illini' inability to consistently hit 3's or any 3's for that matter. Also, Underwood out-coached Howard - Illini message boards whine and whine about Underwood in over his head, etc.
  23. Finally the Illini finish off a game and take down Michigan. Maybe this Illinois team will turn out to be good, it was really nice to them throwing down dunks and blocking shots for a change. Michigan, while very good, may have been overachieving a bit thus far, they did not look like a top 5 team tonight. Could have been to the, get this, Illini defense. Michigan may regress a bit more nevertheless, still a tournament team.
  24. I may quit sports if that happened, there is no reaching the high of the next month again if everything happened to create that scenario. Playoffs or not, from an aesthetic point of view, it'd be great if the Bears beat the Packers and win out. My dream scenario for Sunday, late in the game, Bears holding a small lead. Rodgers, has the Packers driving for the winning score, goes back to pass, throws and Ha-Ha intercepts the pass for a pick 6. During this drive, until the pick 6, all the usual fluky, gypsy magic [expletive] occurs, Bears force several 3rd and longs only to have Rodgers convert while in the grasp of Mack on a tipped pass, etc. Afterwards, Packers lose out, miss the playoffs by one game.
  25. Utah lost guess they're out, if Baylor beats OU and UGA beats LSU, do think the committee will find a way to get Alabama back in? It's probably irrational on my part but, I feel there's a built in bias towards Alabama, they'll look for and find a way to add Alabama.
