  1. Lets hope Living in Maryland, I kind of enjoy their suffering. On the other hand, The Caps winning the Cup will really annoy Pens fans so either way I'm good.
  2. I bet this guy calls a lot of fouls in pick up basketball games. As always, the comments are the best part of the post.

  4. https://www.secondcityhockey.com/2018/5/28/17403442/2018-19-nhl-salary-cap-projection-around-80-million-chicago-blackhawks#comments Here's an update on cap space for next year. Should be around 6 million left for 2-3 guys.
  5. Maybe the players are listed in alphabetical order. For example, Caratini, Russell and...
  6. I just ditched Directtv and no longer have cable. What's my best best for streaming the world cup?
  7. Wasn't a cross check. It was just a really good two-handed shove. If your stick is already in contact with them, *then* you extend your arms, it's not a penalty, even if you do it pretty violently and send the guy flying. Plus it's the finals and you pretty much have to murder someone to get a penalty called.
  8. Actually, that sounds like it WOULDN'T be a wasted vacation day! http://33.media.tumblr.com/918b30f80a8624f0493159d250f4ef87/tumblr_no1fy75h3x1qcy1c2o2_1280.gif Have you been hanging around the Literal Doctor too much?
  9. The Reds have the worst record in the NL so they had dibs. At least that's how it used to work. That’s right. Thought he was free to sign with whoever and then a trade could be worked out, but that’s wrong. I think that's how revocable waivers work.
  10. And so they did. I'm sure pitching at GABP will cure what ails him. That’s like the worst place for him to go with the ballpark and their inability to develop/work on any pitching. I’m pretty shocked he didn’t end up on one of the West Coast teams with a bigger park (which is like all of them). The Reds have the worst record in the NL so they had dibs. At least that's how it used to work.
  11. I was looking at Machado's stats. He's actually better against RHP though not by some huge amount. He's 100 ops points better at home vs the road for whatever that's worth. His OBP is around .333 which is kind of pedestrian for guy that comes with that type of price tag. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/machama01.shtml
  12. Trading for Machado keeps him away from getting traded to a competitor that needs him more. Machado offers a lot of positional flexibility since he can also play 3rd, allowing Bryant to play OF or have a day off without being replaced by Seal Boy. It's wrong to dismiss this idea out of hand but it will depend a lot on what other players are involved. I don't have a lot of respect for the Orioles brain trust. They are genuinely awful right now and their fan base has always had delusions of relevance. I can't see this trade happening until closer to the deadline unless Theo blows them away with a package that would likely be more than most of us would be willing to see the Cubs pay.
  13. Tampa Bay vs. Winnepeg would be the best match up from an exciting hockey standpoint. Only hardcore hockey fans watch the Stanley Cup finals anyway so I don't see where it matters.
  14. Wait till you break 80. I have but that was a long time ago.
  15. I broke 40 for the first time in 20 years, though I hadn't played golf at all for about 18 of those years. I shot an 81 the other day. Next time out, I shot an 87 and was pissed. Then I thought back to the days when I would have given anything to shoot an 87. Perspective is the key.
  16. Surely the Reds will take him. He either continues to be terrible or he becomes what he once was. Either of those outcomes would be good for them.
  17. Forsberg will probably be fine as a back up. Among the younger D Men, Jokiharu is the one to look for. He looked very good at World Juniors and provides the sort of 2 way play the Hawks want out of their defensemen. He'd immediately be the best Power play QB the Hawks have- that says just as much about current Hawks options as it does Jokiharu. But he's still really young and it would be super optimistic to think he's going to be the savior this season. This is the year for Forsling to take the next step and become a solid 2nd pairing puck moving defenseman. We'll see if that happens but D men are like catchers, they take longer to develop.
  18. What article in the Athletic is he talking about?
  19. I don't think the Hawks are in a position to do anything but BPA. Is it true that the Hawks will actually have some cap space to work this offseason? From what I've seen, they should have @$4 mil after figuring in raises for the guys they already have. That assumes they LTIR Hossa again but that is a pretty safe bet since they haven't invented a cure for what he has.
  20. I realize that a lot of people are saying defense but if there's a natural center there in that spot than that's the better route.
  21. He's In The Middle of that photograph.
  22. If only the NHL were smart enough to fix the lottery the way the NBA does.
  23. I seem to remember they never showed much of the front 9 of Augusta on TV for some other reason.
  24. Are they still showing those commercials? I don't watch a lot of TV. Hadn't seen one since right after the super bowl. A couple weeks ago, Bubba Watson had missed the fairway and is getting relief from a tent or something. Some fan yells to him him "You're the man". Bubba Watson replies "If I were the man, I'd be in the fairway".
  25. That sort of thing happens every year. We only remember them if the team wins the championship.
