  1. I mean, there's like 3 active coaches who have won a championship this century, not named Belichick. 1 championship season is an accomplishment in the Patriots dynasty era. I'd be pretty happy with a coach that won a Super Bowl in one of his first 3 years as coach. Were you happy with a manager that won a world Series in his first 3 years? Football is different than baseball but there have been some "not that great" coaches that have one a single super bowl.
  2. Yeah, that's all of the core that have publicly complained about Colliton. I don't remember Kane saying anything specifically directed at Colliton, or anything past 'yeah, it hasn't been fun around here'. But Kane never really struck me as the type to care too much about coaching, and Colliton seems to letting Kane do whatever he wants, so not sure it means much. Fair point. But Kane and Crawford I think are both not really happy with the way things are being run but haven't reached the point where they've lashed out. Crawford, I would guess, isn't thrilled with splitting time with Lehner. Kane spent all summer working with DeBrincat and Strome but Colliton has been really reluctant to put them on the same line and only did so grudgingly because they were desperate for some offense. I can't really blame Colliton since that line isn't going to play much defense but it's still better than all the other alternatives he's tried.
  3. Yeah, that's all of the core that have publicly complained about Colliton.
  4. If you're scoring goals with the line up you have, why make a change like going with 7 defensemen? I guess it could vaguely maybe make sense in some sort of "show the boys that I'll sabotage our chances to win to make a point" sort of way. Maybe Colliton just watched that scene from Hoosiers where they play with 4 because Gene Hackman wants to send a message to that player. OK. But no one on any NHL roster should be benched in favor of Slater Koekkuk. Fire Colliton.
  5. That game was fun. I didn't make it past the first period but they packed a game's worth of action into 20 minutes. Sending down Boqvist until they can trade Gustafson makes sense since Colliton is trying to save his job and isn't going to care about developing players.
  6. Now that I've bought a replacement, I'm going to find out that I put it in my playing partner's bag but he hasn't noticed because he doesn't play much. He's a friend of a friend so I can't ask him directly.
  7. Callaway pre owned Thanks! they had it and it was only $20.
  8. If you're looking for a specific brand / model, go to that brands website. If not, try eBay or that Facebook selling page or something of the like. I'd also go to your local golf courses. They often have single clubs as well as single refurbished clubs on sale. It's Taylor Made Rocketballz. I went to the Taylor Made site and it linked me to Globalgolf.com but that was actually the first place I looked.
  9. Somehow I lost my 5 iron. Anyone know a place to replace one club? I've been looking and so far haven't seen anything except a Chinese version. I'm debating just getting a "new" set of irons.
  10. By my quick count, there 10 new players if you count Shaw. The bottom rung guys are younger, sort of, but not really. They are giving regular PT to 4 rookies. That being said, so what? Colliton needs to go.
  11. Boqvist is better than Gustafson offensively, can't be any worse defensively and is a RH shot. This move makes lots of sense.
  12. So, all the courses that were "Tiger proofed" by making them narrower should now play more to Tiger's strength. I was looking for articles about practice strategies for my golf team kids and ran across an interview where Tiger was saying that he was practicing smarter these days meaning that he has more of a purpose to what he does on the range instead of just spending 10 hours a day beating balls. It's a good tip for anyone that hits the ball great at the range but can't seem to bring that to the course. Especially since hitting balls on the range 10 hours a day is not an option for most people.
  13. How so? Brent Seabrook is one of the least consequential players on the team. He's bad at hockey. He is going to be shuffled aside at some point during this contract, it's just a matter of when and how. Why would he be the linchpin of the team? Evidently he was one of the few voices that was defending Colliton last season when things were going badly. He's an Alternate Captain and that, I would assume, counts for something. Colliton already lost the other Alternate Captain (Keith) and you'd have to wonder about Toews who has been struggling this season in more ways than just not scoring. Most of the rest of the team is too young to step up and say anything. The veterans might see this as a lack of respect and that usually doesn't play well unless the coach is an established winner. To paraphrase the Orange County Sheriff, Seabrook draws a lot of water in this town. You (Colliton) don't draw horsefeathers.
  14. It's gonna be awhile. They're gonna be paying for all the cap circumvention for a couple of more years still. Totally worth it still. This is mostly true. Keith is the only one on a cap circumvention contract now that Hossa is gone. Seabrook's Bobby Bonilla -esque contract came after the CBA that retro punished those moves. Speaking of Seabrook, expressing his frustration after being a healthy scratch again said he could still play "For Somebody". The speculation is that either he'd be willing to waive his no trade or that he wants a different head coach. Trading Seabrook would be really difficult unless they retain half his salary. Even then they might have to include an actual prospect like they did when they got rid of Bickell. Firing Colliton seems like the path of least resistance. His "system" is either completely stupid or merely a bad fit for the personnel that the Hawks have. If he's lost Seabrook, he's lost the team. Bowman probably doesn't want to admit that he was a bad hire but he has to do something or he's on the hot seat too.
  15. Things that makes you go "Hmmm..." for $500, Alex. There are no $500 clues in Jeopardy Because they are answers, hence phrasing in the form of a question. Also the doubling thing.
  16. If Illinois finishes 4-8 this win won't save anyone's job, if that's what he's alluding to.
  17. Hawks played well last night. I had to listen to the Caps TV broadcast and they were saying that Holtby was standing on his head. I'm not sure I'd go that far but he was very good. Kirby Dach reminded me a lot of Teuvo's debut in that the game seemed to be moving fast around him. He got better as the game went on. It's going to be interesting to see where he is 10 games in. The adjustment he has to make is matching up with bigger, more physical players. If they send him back to juniors, he'll dominate based on his size and ability but does that get him closer to NHL ready? I'm not so sure. I'd like to see him center the 4th line and do some bum slaying for a few games. Give him about 5 games centering Nylander and whomever and see where he is. If he's ready, he switches places with Kampf on the 3rd line. That 3rd line of Saad, Kampf & Kubalik has been really good. They keep the puck or get it back and put a lot of pressure on the opposing team. If they started scoring that would really open things up for the top two lines.
  18. I'd like to believe that interviewing Girardi and Ross were for the portion of the fan base (and maybe the owner) that would think that those guys were good hires but that they want someone who is a better match as far as baseball philosophy. That being said, I'm ok with them hiring Ross since that will force them to make the roster more foolproof so that even someone like Ross could win 96 games.
  19. "window that is slightly ajar" might be more accurate at least through the first 15 games.
  20. The only way it makes sense if they already discussed an extension with Bryant and they are really far apart. That seems pretty unlikely now[...] What makes you think that? It's still early to give up on extending Bryant. I don't believe they can get enough back to make it worth trading him. Then again, I haven't any idea what the return on Bryant would be but I'd guess he's not a guy that nets 3 really good players.
  21. Not sure how long Colliton's "defensive system" gets replaced by something better. Last season, the hope was that a full training camp would help the veterans adjust. Can anyone explain how Colliton's "system" is different than a pick up game played on a frozen pond in Muck Jack, Saskatchewan?
  22. The only way it makes sense if they already discussed an extension with Bryant and they are really far apart. That seems pretty unlikely now but if they really wanted to shake things up, this would accomplish more than trading Contreras. They'd have to get an awful lot for Bryant and it's hard to envision what that deal would look like.
  23. Murphy and De Haan are their 2 best defenders and neither of them played. I'm hopeful that the defense will get better when they don't have to play Koekkuk or however he spells his name. They're stuck playing 1 7th defenseman (Seabrook) having to play 3 against the Flyers was never likely to end well.
  24. Seabrook aside, he overpays guys by about $500 K which doesn't seem bad until you add up all 10 guys that have that same overpay rate and realize that $10 million could but a pretty good FA.
