  1. I'd rather some of their few weak areas get exposed now, in time to make that one, seemingly minor acquisition that makes the difference when it counts.
  2. It's a classic look
  3. There was a quote from Trestman where he said something to the effect that Tucker knew what he needed to fix. No kidding.
  4. That game was not as close as the 7-2 score would indicate.
  5. The Olympics needed Russia to be the villain again. The Chinese really weren't cutting it in that respect. It would be really nice for the US to beat Russia for the Gold medal in hockey.
  6. First time I saw that I was thinking it would be poetic justice if he gave himself a concussion. I like how the ref pays no attention to him at all.
  7. In their defense, the game was the same thing over and over again. Kings get puck, Hawks take it back, Hawks hold the puck in the offensive zone for 5 minutes, Kings fail to clear. The Dallas announcers are the best. The Caps are the absolute worst though Detroit are pretty bad too.
  8. For every back up QB that gets a big contract from somewhere else and winds up doing well there are at least 10 cautionary tales illustrating why that's a bad idea.
  9. I don't pretend to know how these things work in Soccer but it seems to me that if they do really well this time he'd still be able to get out of his contract for a better opportunity, wouldn't he? A lot can happen between now and then. Also, would any coach really feel confident considering the teams in their group?
  10. say who with the what now? Jason Labarbera; continuing his quest to be a bad goalie on every team in the league before retiring and presumably becoming an analyst for the NHL network.
  11. remember when Caleb Hanie was the "hot hand?" The people that don't want to start Cutler should consider this: McCown lost to the Vikings. Want to blame the defense for that? Go ahead but whoever the QB is, that guy will have to be able to bail out the horrible Bears defense. Cutler has shown he has a better chance of doing that.
  12. That's fair. What about Thornton then? Should be the same. In person meeting Friday. That opens the possibility of more than 5. He may get 10
  13. It could also mean they have an offer that is good but not so obviously good that they feel the need to jump at the chance. It's a subtle difference but an important one. They could be trying to assess the realistic possibility of an extension which could play a big factor in evaluating the value of the offer they've received.
  14. Neal gets 5 games for kneeing Marchand in the head. It would have been more but it was Marchand and everyone hates that guy.
  15. Mashinter is a poor man's Brandon Bollig
  16. On the anniversary, the History Channel had a really good show looking at all of the conspiracies. I think what stood out the most from that program was the one author who said that conspiracy theories confuse motive for committing the crime with actually pulling the trigger. Couple other points: Jack Ruby thought he'd be treated like a hero for being the guy that killed Kennedy's assassin. They had a Navy Seal sniper, using the same rifle, attempt to get off 3 shots and he did it in under 6 seconds. What looked like a gun in the hand of the secret service man driving the car was actually just a reflection off the other SS guy's forehead. The show had some pretty good computer simulations.
  17. Good point. The Blackhawk's "woes" are hardly going to generate any sympathy around the league. What's frustrating about this situation is that they are stuck playing one guy that's clearly not ready (Nordstrom), one guy that is playing out of position (Brookbank) and a third guy that the coach hates/ mistrusts (Morin). To make matters worse, none of these guys can play center- the position of the guys that they're replacing in the lineup. Even worse they just sent a center down so they could promote 2 wings.
  18. Tonight's 3rd line: Morin-Nordstrom-Brookbank. If these 3 combine for more than 20 minutes TOI it means that the Hawks either scored 25 goals in the first period or took a lot of dumb penalties. Oh, Versteeg and Saad will be taking turns "centering" the 2nd line.
  19. that would require actually watching the games beep beep boop boop i am a computer I thought you were a malfunctioning robot
  20. When I think hitting, I think Mike Brumley! Those who can't, teach
  21. Brett Jackson is still on the 40 man roster? I could have sworn they de rostered him sometime last season.
  22. It's December. The Cowboys will annoy us either way. If the Bears lose, ESPN will talk about the Cowboys as a team that may actually do something- to our great annoyance and end any chance of making the playoffs . If the Bears win they are one step closer to the dreaded 10- 6, out of the playoffs and picking last among non playoff teams. What's worse: false hope or no hope?
  23. Kelly Chase= John kruk
  24. I feel sorry for Chicagoans that don't like Hockey because they are missing out on a dominant team.
  25. I have a Red Toews and a blnk cubs road dark blue. I feel like a jackass wearing a jersey if I'm not at a game so I really only wear them a couple times a year at school on Jersey Day.
