  1. Len has been saying going north since he got here. This isn't something new.
  2. Nobody wants to buy your drugs here, Louie.
  3. Crawford's new deal doesn't start until next season. It was The Versteeg deal that painted them into a corner this year, if you want to call it that. As for Bickell, it's important to keep in mind that he started the season coming off 2 knee surgeries. I don't think he was healthy before the Olympic break. Hopefully he'll be more productive going forward. The timing of the Rundblad deal is odd but he's a nice insurance policy against Roszival being old and showing it or Brookbank being himself.
  4. Kesler won the Selke in 2010-2011. so pretty good then? As a relatively novice hockey fan, I can never remember which rewards are which. Or if they are merit or reputation based. By "best defensive forward" they actually mean best defensive center. You're talking Toews, Bergeron and Dyatsuk country. Reputation no doubt plays a part. It's hard to say whether Kesler can play Selke level defense these days but he's a perfect fit. Going from Handzus to Kesler would be like going from Neifi Perez to Nomar. It guarantees nothing but OMG would it be fun and make them tough to beat.
  5. Carolina was lucky to get anything out an Iginla trade since he played for the Flames. The Hawks can afford to give up draft picks as they have lots of depth forwards at Rockford likely could play for a lot of NHL teams. Denault, McNeil, LeBlanc and Teravainen could all compete for the big club next season. Bickell, Clendening, Hawks '14 1st, 2nd and the 3rd round pick they got from Florida would seem like a solid offer for Kesler. Van may have to also take Regin and send a 5th round pick. I could also see Shaw maybe getting included in the deal.
  6. is it weird that i dont love this? Which part? That Florida is the elephant graveyard for failed Hawks draft picks? Or do you think they could have gotten more for Pirri? There are rumors that Pirri asked for a trade. The Panthers 3rd round pick is pretty much a 2nd round pick given how bad the Panthers are doing. I would have liked to keep Pirri into next season as insurance against Tuevo needing a full year at Rock Vegas.
  7. Pirri traded to Florida for 3rd and 5th round picks. Blackhawks south.
  8. The only way a trade for Kesler would work at the deadline it would have to balance out money wise. That would mean having to include Seabrook, Bickell or Oduya or some combination involving at least 1 of those guys. I doubt the Hawks would be willing to part with Seabrook since their D prospects are still too far away to play his minutes, I don't know if Oduya would accept a trade to Van and I'm not sure how either side would feel about Bickell. Van probably like Bickell but not at his price tag. The Hawks probably don't want to give up on him so quickly.
  9. Hawks acquire D Brian Connelly from the Wild in exchange for Brad Winchester. Could just be insurance against injury now that Costco is gone. IT could also be a precursor to a bigger trade.
  10. Kostka got claimed on waivers by the Lightning. A mostly insignificant move though we'll see if the bring up another forward or just keep 2 guys in the press box/ dog house.
  11. All of the Russian NHL guys should get right on the plane if they lose this game. The KHL guys will have to go into hiding.
  12. The Swiss might save us the trouble. When I heard them say that, I wasn't thinking that it couldn't be right because the 2 seed plays the 3 seed if they get that far
  13. Canada needs OT to defeat Finland. That means the US is the #2 seed. They said on the broadcast that they wouldn't play Canada or Russia until the gold medal game. They've talked the big ice to death but it may wind up being Canada's undoing in the long run.
  14. The NHL should just go ahead and cancel all the games between now and the Olympics. It's like the last day before Christmas break at school for most of the good teams. Or maybe they could just skip right to the shoout out, not that it would help the Hawks much but it would keep me from being tempted to watch some bad hockey games late at night.
  15. 5 on 5 the Hawks are something like +38. They'll be fine.
  16. There's a good chance that they come to play against those teams and go 7-2 over this stretch, and there's a decent chance they go 9-0. Depending on what your definition of good and decent are.
  17. NBC's coverage has been an embarrassment so far. first rule of lip syncing has to be actually stand by the microphone to give the illusion that you're actually singing. they should never let Roenick try to ad lib. I was embarrassed for both him and Brian Wilson. It was nice of the Kings to go with unis that are even worse than the Chinese knock offs that the Hawks will wear in their game.
  18. He doesn't like the cold yet he plays for Seattle? Or is he just saying he had no choice last off-season but go there and will go somewhere "warm" this off-season? it's not very cold in seattle It's not warm, either. It's the perfect climate for fat people.
  19. Hawks fans talk about the coach Q random line generator, which apparently was set to puree during the 3rd period last night (I had the good fortune of falling asleep so I didn't see it myself). Here's how the Hawks lineup would look if arranged in alphabetical order: Bickell Bollig Handzus- preemptively nicknaming them the thundering heard Hossa Kane Kruger Saad Sharp Shaw Smith Toews Versteeg Notes: None of those lines are bad. Probably want more talent around Toews but still. I like how there's an actual center on all 4 of those lines. Ironic that alphabetical order could also be random.
  20. I wonder what she charges for an interview. Undoubtedly she needs money. Otherwise, why do this interview?
  21. When did HCCF move to Italy?
  22. I was once McGruff the Crime Dog so I have a better resume.
  23. Hope that doesn't become a thing. Like Bill Murray throwing the first pitch over the catcher's head. It's only funny once.
  24. Please don't ridicule the mock drafts.
  25. Yeah I'm not worried. It's a little [expletive] that they might to have to be the road team in the 2nd round against St. Louis and potentially in the 3rd round against Anaheim unless they do their annual playoff collapse but overall I'm just happy they are doing this well overall considering the short offseason, potential for cup hangover, olympics distractions, etc. You say "road team" as if they will only play on the road. The president's trophy/Stanley Cup run was nice last year, but 2nd/3rd seeds can just as easily make a run. They'll have plenty of home games and can win on the road. The Ducks are really good at home. Not sure if that really makes that big of a difference in the playoffs but if the series did go 7 that could give them an edge. Then again, a lot of those home wins for the Ducks are against the Oilers and Flames. Is it just me or does it seem like the Blues and Ducks always seem to be playing and beating the Oilers, Predators or Panthers?
