  1. I have the number to the clubhouse, but I don't think it'd be appropriate to post on here. Too many guys would be calling mid game to ask for a relief pitcher, etc.
  2. Not unless he wants his car to be keyed and his house TPed.
  3. I understand your optimism... I felt the same way before the 2006 season.
  4. Wow, this shocks me. Hank White at that price? I wonder how many starting catchers' salaries are close to that... I was hopeful when Aramis and Kerry took the hometown discount that the money would be spent wisely on good STARTING players. Not backups. Looks like the Trib Co. forgot to get rid of one guy... and he's the one guy with the power to field a bad team.
  5. Amen brother
  6. Everyone knew going in that it was going to be a shootout. They are two of, if not THE two highest powered offenses in the country. (ranked 2nd and 5th in points per game, and 2nd and 4th in yards per game) They may not be able to stop you, but on any given day they can definitely outscore you. I'd actually consider those two teams part of this group of "big boys". Louisville has been good the past few years simply because they can win a shootout. They'll may give up 30 to 40 points, but they'll score 45 to 50.
  7. Not sure of the exact numbers, so if anyone feels like looking them up, that'd be cool, but they said on ESPN earlier that from this game on, Louisville and West Virginia have the 4th and 5th toughest schedules in the country. Their BCS numbers will get better. Close enough to take out Ohio St. if they lose? That remains to be seen.
  8. No problem. I think that girl is hot, that's about the only reason. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/m_scafide/thatpepsigirl2.gif No need to apologize. It's politics, and everyone has a different opinion. And it's not that I don't care about the issues. I'm actually pretty well informed about what's going on. It's just that I'd rather focus on things that I can do to directly help my situation right now. It's just my opinion that if I wanted to complain about some issue that comes up, that I should be a voter to do so. If i felt strongly enough about something to complain, than I should vote to do what I can to change it. I won't criticize anyone for standing up and speaking out about something they feel isn't right. I just won't do it unless I'm a voter that's actually making a difference.
  9. i look at it this way, i have problems of my own to worry about. i have problems at home, problems at work, every day problems just like everyone else has. i just choose to spend my time worrying about the things i can actually change, rather than complain about the things i have little to no control over. that's just me, disagree if you want.
  10. I know what you mean, but I hate people who don't vote because they have ignored the issues and have made no attempt to become educated. I'd rather they not vote if they didn't care to educate themselves. It's the people that don't educate themselves, but still vote, that drive me nuts. I personally have no political opinion. I don't vote. I've never been a fan of politics. I probably won't vote until there is something I feel extraordinarily strong about. But, I also understand that by not voting, I have zero right to complain about ANYTHING. So you'll never hear me say one peep about anything. The day I find something to complain about, is the day I start voting.
  11. I've been on the floor at Allen Fieldhouse, but I've never been in there during a game. That's something I'd like to experience. Same with UNC and Cameron Indoor. They're all pretty amazing to see in person.
  12. go louisville
  13. DePaul people: Demons beat St. Ambrose tonight 89-73. Wilson Chandler scored 28, and a whole cast of others were in double digits. Easy exhibition win.
  14. Although they are bringing back the old candy cane uniforms for this season to honor Ray Meyer. http://www.depaulbluedemons.com/imagelibrary/files/patches.jpg
  15. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/columns/story?columnist=katz_andy&id=2643372&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab4pos2 Good article for DePaul fans. And Sammy Mejia was just named one of the 50 preseason candidates for the Wooden Award. He won't win, but it's nice to see him get nominated.
  16. Me too. Last year was depressing. This year is sad but really almost funny just because of how mediocre a team the Cards really were most of the year. That's what makes it worse for me. The fact that they were so beatable, and that the Cubs beat them so often this year, made it sting that much more that the Cubs just couldn't get it done. I voted yes.
  17. Arod's agent (Satan) said that Arod will be a Yankee next season.
  18. Why don't you like me? Nobody likes me... But all Simpsons aside, Prior's start tonight gives me hope that the kid isn't done yet. And yes I say kid knowing that he is in fact a year older than me. His ERA was down, and he wasn't walking guys tonight. The 9 K's are also a good sign to me because that shows he's consistently hitting his spots when he really needs to. I'm not sure I'm sold on the idea of him coming back yet though. I'm torn between giving him one more minor league start or bringing him back to the team and seeing if he can keep this up. But I guess it has gotten to the point where we have to handle him with kid gloves. I just pray for no more shoulder injuries... or any injuries at all for that matter.
  19. Yeah, I'm with you. I hate everything about Ozzie Guillen, but he keeps talking about the Cubs because reporters keep asking him about it.
  20. That was my first thought too. Great to get the win tonight, but it might have come at a terrible price.
  21. Hmm, we'll have to check the timestamp, but I posted one in baseball discussions (don't ask why). In before merge! EDIT: They just merged it. Looks like I lost by a few seconds. #-o
  22. Just heard Len announce it on the air. Thanks for all your contributions.
  23. Weaker bullpen I can understand. But we just so happened to catch Izzy on an off night on Sunday. He's the one guy on that team that is usually lights out. But I have a feeling he's going to be a little bit more overused this year if LaRussa keeps bringing him in for the final 6 outs and not the final 3.
  24. Ohhh, another good guess. The "idiots" in Boston did shots of Jack before games 4,5,6, and 7 of the ALCS, and then before every game of the world series.
  25. Regarding Aramis getting a long term deal, I remember reading in the offseason that Hendry said the only person they'd give five years to was Lee. I think it's when they were going after Furcal.
