  1. I worry about this because it is his hamstring. As a former track and cross country runner, I can tell you that a hamstring injury is not something that heals quickly. Especially for a guy like Soriano, who's game is built largely upon speed and generating power.
  2. Then why EVER use a backup catcher? If not in a 12-1 blow-out, when? Should we wait until Barrett strains his back or something? What happens then? Use the backup catcher to start a game or two a week.Or if Barrett gets hurt, and we need him in there. That's why he's a "back up". He's there to back up Barrett getting hurt.
  3. Eh, the only reason I can think to keep Barrett in, is the second you pull him, you're down to one catcher. If Blanco gets hurt, there is no one to come in and catch.
  4. I'm not a huge fan of Jones batting third, but I can understand Lou's reasoning for it. Lee gives any hitter in front of him a lot of protection. Jones isn't swinging the bat that well, so putting him behind Lee means they can just pitch around Lee to get to Jones. Now at least Jones should be seeing better pitches than if he were behind Lee. Although, he has been swinging at some garbage pitches anyway, so it probably doesn't matter. The only two guys in the lineup that are hitting right now are Theriot and Lee, so it really doesn't matter who hits third.
  5. Hmm, Lilly and Hill back to back huh? I thought they separated them earlier because they didn't want two lefties back to back?
  6. Doesn't matter, game is postponed anyway. Weather is crazy in Chicago today.
  7. I've said it before and I'll say it again, they are called the CHICAGO Cubs. Not the Schaumburg Cubs, not the Evanston Cubs, etc. Moving the team out of the city would be very damaging, and would make a lot of true Chicagoans angry. I know a lot of teams do it, and it might work for them. But trust me, Chicagoans wouldn't stand for it, myself included. And then many people would also see the White Sox as Chicago's true team because they'd be the only ones actually located in the city of Chicago. Stay in Wrigley, fix what you have to when it needs fixing.
  8. I'll be at the game tomorrow. Can't wait. I'm not looking forward to tailgating in freezing cold weather, but if I can handle Bears season, I can handle one Cubs game. We have great seats too. 100 level, between 1st base and right field. There's 30 of us, all Cubs fans, so we should be easy to spot. And I guarantee that you will be able to hear us.
  9. The beer smell is pretty overwhelming sometimes too. But none of the smells are negative. It's either food or beer smells.
  10. Yeah, but that could be the fastest moving bathroom line in history. I'm always amazed at how quickly you can get in and out.
  11. Looks like they will if they already have Lee 42 jerseys for sale Are they already for sale? Or is that picture just someone's photoshop work?
  12. Are the jerseys going to have their name, or Jackie Robinson's name on the back? I like the idea, but I hope MLB doesn't try to turn this into a circus, or try to profit from it. Griffey wanted to do something to honor Robinson, not profit off of him.
  13. But it's not selfish of you to want to keep it in the city? Pot meet kettle They are the CHICAGO Cubs, not the Schaumburg Cubs, Evanston Cubs, etc. The stadium should be in the city. I know other towns do things different, but there's no need to move them out of the city.
  14. I wouldn't underestimate how much his ego effects his decisions. Also, at one time ... I'm not sure if he still does, he used to personally answer all the emails he got from Mav fans. He also used to frequent Mavs messageboards and post on them semi-regularly. He still does. Saw an interview with him not too long ago.
  15. Yeah, visit was pretty short. Enough for anyone watching to get a laugh out of it, and enough to scare Dempster just a tad. I don't even think he made it all the way to Demp. He just said what he had to say as he was walking, then turned around.
  16. Well I'm pretty sure the first thing he said as he was still walking was, "We have a ****ing three run lead!" Or some variation of those words.
  17. Haha, yeah, that was hilarious. You could tell part of what he said, and it definitely wasn't meant for children's ears.
  18. Four runs from our offense wasn't bad for conditions being as bad as they were. The ball simply wasn't traveling. I think our guys were swinging at too many bad pitches though. That Arroyo slider or whatever that thing is was fooling everyone. Extremely happy with Lilly tonight though. I'm with you, I wasn't ready for that at all.
  19. Northerly Island?? There were already buildings there. Hell, there was an airport there. I think the law means that no new land can be used for buildings. They can't take away part of a park or beach to build something new. They can probably tear down and rebuild where the buildings already existed though. Right. I was just suggesting it as a possible spot for my fantasy park. ;) Ahh, my mistake. Actually, that would be a great place for a ballpark.

  21. Can't build on the lakefront. City law. The only buildings allowed east of Lake Shore Drive are already there. They want to preserve the lakefront.
  22. There's a perception that Daley, a notorious Sox fan, gives the Cubs a hard time when it comes to getting things that need his approval and such done through the city. hmmmmm, that's stupid. That kind of thing could easily backfire. Been that way for years. At least the governor is on our side.
  23. Especially not when baseball and football seasons overlap.
  24. Sure is, the Indians hitters keep hitting it before it has a chance to get there.
  25. He hit .339 last year. Somehow I don't think it's just the Washington pitchers that are allowing him to do well. I have him on all three of my fantasy teams.
