  1. Run scores on a FC to 2nd base. Nice slide by Aram to break up the DP.
  2. Edmonds, if you go yard here, I'll apologize for most of the times I questioned your sexuality.
  3. Anyway... Riot to 2nd on a wild pitch, after he singles to right. Lee walks. 1st and 2nd, 1 out, Aram up.
  4. You suck, Lilly. CAN WE STOP GIVING RUNS BACK RIGHT AFTER SCORING THEM?? THAT WOULD BE FANTASTIC!!! If there was a stat on such a thing, the Cubs would be near the bottom lately. They've been horrible. You can bet the house, the car, the bank account, and the kids that if the Cubs have a big inning, the other team will score at least one the next time at bat.
  5. Fontenot for Sabathia straight up. Who's with me?
  6. Rheal Cormier coming in to replace Albers. edit: I meant Lance Cormier.
  7. And he K's. What a shocker. Rob Deer redux. All he does is hit a home run or strike out.
  8. If they'd send him to Iowa (if they can) to stretch him out, I wouldn't at all mind seeing him as the long man out of the pen, provided the keep him as the long man this time and not as a LOOGY. say what? I said, I wouldn't mind seeing Lieber as the long man out of the pen.

  10. They were down 7-1 and came within a single of tying it in the 9th. Let's be honest here... 2 of the guys batting in the 9th should never even bat in big spots and the other (Fukudome) had no chance against Sherrill. They still showed the ability to come back. Exactly. Once they fell behind 7-1, they had no business being in the game. The fact that they were within a single of tying it or a double of winning it in the 9th with 3 chances is more of a testament to how really, really good this team is. Agree completely about how this game shows the team is a good team after being down 7-1 and fighting back to a single away from a tie, it helps me to get over the losses much easier than normal. I've slept on it, and you guys do have a point. However, it still sickens me somewhat that such good patience was shown to load the bases, and then it all went out the window with the last 3 hitters of the game. All that hard work wasted for no good reason. If the Orioles had made some good defensive plays, or the Cubs had worked the count then struck out on some nasty pitches, I'd have been more accepting. But those were three terrible AB's with the game on the line.
  11. Nice to see that these boys can still remind us that they're the Cubs every so often when we start to forget. That was a joke. Absolutely pathetic. Load the bases and then don't even make contact with the ball. Disgusting.
  12. Why was there no sacrifice there? Grrrrrrr Learn to bunt, Marshall. Pitchers ought to be the best bunters on any NL team.
  13. I'm certainly glad it didn't go through. The Cubs would have paid out the nose for Roberts, when we can use some of those players to land a much more useful player (Harden, Burnett, etc) at the deadline.
  14. This Roberts guy can hit. Any news on if the Cubs have looked to trade for him in the past?
  15. Now if only we could get Soto hitting in front of Edmonds... One of the things I heard Lou talking about (could have been during the in-game interview, but not sure) was that he likes having a lefty hitting 5th behind Ramirez. Fuku batting second means Edmonds will remain fifth. As long as he keeps hitting I'm ok with that. Geez, never thought I'd say I was ok with Jim Edmonds in the lineup. What is this world coming to?
  16. Just to let you know, Bhogg: You may be the game-thread pimp, but I have the best record in 2008. To be the man, you have to beat the man. ;) Seriously, though, keep doing your thing. It's working.
  17. Hopefully the NL can will the All-Star game this year, just in case this is the year.
