  1. Why do the Rays even bother bringing bats up to the plate at this point? They could stand there with their arms crossed and still walk.
  2. We were due to get swept sometime I guess.
  3. This is the part where Marmol would rip out his spine if he was in a video game.
  4. This would be typical if we fight like hell to score some runs, then our best reliever has an off night and gives them back.
  5. I wonder how many hitters former reliever Eric Plunk, erm, plunked in his career.
  6. someone just shoot erik here and put him out of his Cubs-induced misery. I'm surprised he's not catatonic by now Once-bitten, twice-shy, my friend. It just seems like this is the other shoe dropping. Soriano is out, Z's status is uncertain... you can't tell me this isn't a good sign. I've just been hurt too many times by this team to where it doesn't even hurt anymore. I'm just kinda numb to the whole thing. I'm as big of a fan as anyone here, but as I've said before when following the Cubs: Hope for the best, but expect the worst. And was I wrong about Z? We can survive the loss of Soriano. We could survive if Lee or Aram or Fukudome or Soto got hurt. We could even prevail if Marmol or Wood got injured. However, if Z went down, then what? A very lucky Dempster becomes our #1, and if he comes back down to earth we're really screwed. I don't think it's any big secret that the rotation is our weak point, and if we lose our only true ace, that's a hell of a blow.
  7. If there's any damage in there that puts him out for a significant length of time, it's over. We won't win the division without Z, and if we do back into the playoffs and he's still out, we're toast. He is the most important player on the team right now.
  8. How does it compare to Baseball Mogul?
  9. You expected anything less from today's Cubs? They finally remembered what team they are. Lee's head is so far up his ass right now that I doubt a team of proctologists could remove it.
  10. He's giving up repeated opposite field singles that aren't "leaking" through. oh god i know, people are just crushing those opposite field singles. I'm surprised a couple of those 130 foot bloops havent gone over the fence. He was pitching for contact and trying to a get a double play ball basically the entire inning and you guys are acting like it's just blast after blast after blast. It's embarrassing. It's not embarassing. He had an incredibly sheety inning and we're commenting on said sheety inning. What are we supposed to do, tip our caps and nod politely and go about discussing the day's news ticker? Apparently we're supposed to be cheering that our ace gave up the game. HOORAY CARLOS!!! ARAM STRUCK OUT!!! HOORAY!!!!
  11. Does it really matter? The only stats that truly matter are runs scored, in which the Rays have all they need to win tonight. Personally, I think the Cubs shouldn't even come out to bat against Sonnastine again. They should just forfeit. Is anyone impressed with the way Sonnanstine has been throwing? Junk balls with no velocity? I don't think we'll win but I think our hitters should be able to do some damage Except Lee, who has it in his mind to swing at anything within the state of Florida.
  12. Ball four. Hell, why not put the batboy in at this point? It won't make much difference. Maybe the clubhouse attendant who could hit a little bit in high school would like a few rips.

  14. bwahahahahahaaaaaaa Welcome back, Cubs. I was wondering when those impostors would go away.
  15. After that play where DeRosa dropped the ball I felt like this series would be the first series we get swept in Patience my friends, we may prevail today No. We're not. We're going to get swept and go back to Chicago with our tails between our legs. Hooray Old Cubs!
  16. Score two, give two right back. The old Cubs are back for tonight, boys.
  17. Just be yourself Old Style...remeber, it's our great beer and they can't have it. Anybody remember those commercials with Dennis Farina? isnt Old Style brewed in Milwaukee? Why yes. Yes it is. Chicago's beer is brewed in Milwaukee. How ironic. ;)
  18. It was a hell of a lot better than going down weakly on 3 grounders.
  19. Yeah, a fly ball would have been nice.
  20. How awesome would that have been if we'd tied on the suicide squeeze? This loss doesn't really anger me. It just strikes me as one of those games we weren't meant to win. Z will get us back in the win column tomorrow.
  21. Wow. This isn't something I'd have expected to read on this board until this year. Prediction: Two runs will win this game.
  22. To paraphrase Ryne Sandberg's HOF speech: When did it become ok to just hit and forget how to play the rest of the game?
