  1. When these sentences are read together, it is very Cindy Sandberg-ish. Good thing Raffy Palmeiro isn't anywhere to be found these days.
  2. Some guy named Dusty might have something to do with it Could he be had for cheap to fill out the rotation? Ok, so I'm high from the Harden deal and not thinking clearly, but still. I think Burnett is much more likely option. Although Hendry doesn't seem interested. We still have plenty left to get him though. I've always thought that Harang would be a stud outside of Cincy. Can you imagine Z/Harden/Demp/Lilly/Harang? Damn! Cincy can afford to lose him with Volquez/Cueto/etc there, but they probably wouldn't trade him within the division. One guy I'd love to have who I don't think will be traded will be Aaron Cook.

  4. Problem, guys. With Harden pitching and Soto behind the plate, that's far too much awesome for opposing teams to handle. MLB may force us to get rid of one of them out of fairness.
  5. This is going to be a good day. I can feel lit. We're going to light up Harang like a Christmas Tree.
  6. This trade wasn't as big of a steal as Aram was. Oakland actually got some somewhat serviceable talent. Pittsburgh got dog crap on a stick.
  7. which, in hindsight, really shouldn't have been a good day at all Someone needs to make an MSpaint about this, NOW
  8. http://images.wikia.com/uncyclopedia/images/b/b5/Exploding-head.gif Yes!! And we still have the parts to get it done. Is there any indication at all that Hendry is still interested in acquiring another starter?
  9. Shop Marquis around and take whatever you can get for him, even if its the proverbial "garbage for garbage" trade. Maybe we'll get lucky and whoever we'd get back would be as helpful as Karros and Grudz were in 2003.
  10. No. He has either a vesting or a club option for next year for only $7 million. If it doesn't vest, it can be picked up by the Cubs, who IMO would be morons not to take that chance.
  11. You got to love Jim bringing up his obsession with LH bats during the Harden press conference. Mind giving some notes for those of us who don't have ESPNews? He praised Beane's professionalism and honesty in negotiations. Said he asked about Harden maybe 6 weeks ago, but things got a little more serious 10 days ago. He's got a pretty big smile. Gives Murton and Patterson a chance to get more playing time, and thinks Sean can be a really good starter for them right away. He's still in the mode he's always in which is constantly looking to improve the team (this seems to be a standard response for him, so I wouldn't take it as he's about to make another move or anything). Thanks a bunch. I'm not expecting anything really except maybe a bat for the bench. Getting Soriano back will be an addition in itself. I don't really see the Cubs with any really pressing needs right now. Sure, we could maybe upgrade at 2nd or SS or possibly CF if you don't think Edmonds can keep it up, but I wouldn't pursue it heavily unless some other GM came to us and made an offer that Hendry would be dumb to turn down. Maybe we could upgrade the bench a bit, but we're still pretty good there. We're set in the OF once Soriano gets back, corner INF is good, C is good, rotation and bullpen are good. I think we're set.
  12. No, he was injured for a good part of the beginning of the season. Probably a good thing, too, as if he'd been healthy all year we wouldn't have gotten him for what we did.
  13. As long as Hendry's on a roll, inquire about Hudson too. ;)
  14. He wore 40 with Oakland, I assume he'd keep it. Yeah, they wouldn't let you use that number, so maybe. What number does Larry go to then? Oh yeah, Larry. Hmm. Rothschild? He can't change his uniform number for an ace pitcher?
  15. Score is reporting Cubs were inquiring about Bedard for Gallager, Murton, Patterson, and Pie. No formal offer had been made, though, it was simply a discussion. This is the MUCH better deal.
  16. I take back half the nasty things I've ever said about Jim Hendry.
  17. I'd keep it that way. Marquis vs Zito is a toss-up, as they both suck. Harden vs. Cain would be a heck of a matchup.
