  1. Probably 2004 sometime. Didn't an ESPN announcer say that the other day was the first time they had been 21 games over (or whatever it was at the time) since 1969? Probably, but they're idiots anyway. I think they were 22 over going into that slide in late September in 2004.
  2. At least in that series the only way they can gain much ground is if they sweep. I'd love to sweep them and put them completely out of contention for the division.
  3. how many people really stuck with that team? i remember game threads that were 2 or 3 pages long, mostly fred doing play by play for himself. they were a complete waste of time to follow (except on rich hill days). I'll say one thing, it was a lot less stressful to watch the team at the end of 2006. Losing was expected. If they won, it was gravy. But if they blew a 5 run lead, it wasn't really a big deal because you hated pretty much everyone on the roster. Here's the O'Malley game thread.. viewforum.php?f=26&st=0&sk=t&sd=d&start=640
  4. What's the question and who is Ryan O'Malley?
  5. Theriot fouled a ball off his foot at about the speed of sound. Good thing we have the off day tomorrow. Riot would need it. That's going to be sore for a while. Sure hope there's not a hairline crack in there.
  6. Vlad Guerrero is hitting close to .400 lifetime vs. Texas.
  7. Im not so much worried about the conditions as I am about the guy on the mound. I think that's the condition.
  8. Len and Bob said that every Cub in the lineup has scored. Is that true? Pat and Ron say Soto hasn't yet.
  9. Given what I've seen of him, and some of the things I've heard him say, I think Cecil Cooper just might be a worse manager than Dusty. i didn't think that was possible. My wife, who has below-average knowledge of the game, wouldn't be a worse manager than Dusty.
  10. What did he do? Threw his arms up in complete exasperation as if to say "What in the hell do I have to do to get these guys out?"
  11. Grand slam by DeRo, RBI by Marquis, and 3-run bomb on the first pitch by Soriano.
  12. What the hell is Backe bitching about? It's not like those pitches were that close.
  13. Little floater makes me think of something else which is probably appropriate since Marquis is pitching. Thats more of a big, smelly toilet clogger. *cue cat crap picture*
  14. This had better be Jason's last batter, regardless of the outcome.
  15. I wish I could be as bad at my job as Marquis is at his and get paid 1/50th as much.
  16. If just one run scores this inning Lou should yank Marquis. We can't let them get back into this game.
  17. Marshall and Gaudin up in the pen. Looks like Lou is already sick of Jason's crap.
  18. At least they got the one. That was a tough play.
  19. Backe's reaction was easily the best I've ever seen by a pitcher not named Brad Lidge. Better than Lilly in Game 2?
  20. If Marquis doesn't give any back, we cruise. If he lets them back into the game, though, it's going to be an interesting afternoon.
