  1. This is probably already posted somewhere in this thread, but when was the last time the Cubs swept a 4-game road series?
  2. Throwing at hitters? What happened? Gagne threw at Edmonds four times and in typical Gagne fashion, he missed all four times. Gagne got tossed and Edmonds laughed at him as he jogged to first. Hahaha, very nice. If anyone has video of this, please post it. I thought for sure the benches were going to clear when Gagne hit him.
  3. That is, by far, the BEST Cubs game I have ever attended live. I was in section 231, row 20.. There were drunken fat women behind me who were three sheets to the wind by the 3rd inning. One kept chanting "FU-KU-DO-MEHHHHHH" in a very baritone voice. She did this about a dozen times. Harden really needs to work on his bunting. He looked like he didn't have a clue what to do during that sacrifice attempt. Good Lord. I can forgive him somewhat for being in the AL for so long, but this needs to be made a priority. I saw Brewers BP. I saw Braun lay down a few bunts and thought it was odd. He's one of the best hitters in the NL. Why the hell is he bunting for hits. And then he tried it twice in the game. I no longer hate Jim Edmonds. I was giving him a standing ovation while he was rounding the bases. I never in a million years thought I would do that. Wow. We were singing "Go Cubs Go" for half of the bottom of the 9th. It was awesome. It was certainly Wrigley North today. The stadium, from my perspective, was about 3/4ths full in the 9th inning. Cub fans stuck around, and there were some very dejected Brewers fans as well. Today was so much fun!! I hope it continues tomorrow against Pittsburgh, especially since we don't have to worry about Jason Bay.
  4. Headed out the door for the game. Hope to see a Cubs sweep!!
  5. And now that we're 20 games over, I'd really like for us to not go into the tank for 2 weeks like we have every other time we've gotten to this point.
  6. Please Cubs, don't crap the bed now that you're at 20 games over. Remember... you ARE allowed to go higher than that. Twenty-one games over .500 is a good thing. Can you repeat that? Gooooood thinnngggggg.
  7. They should be pretty decent seats, but I'm one of those people who believes there's very few bad seats at Miller Park. 231 is down the left field line, but a section or so away from the foul pole. You should be able to see the infield action develop nicely, and you'll probably see most of the outfield action except for the left field corner. I hope you have a good time, but please take it easy on any heartbroken Brewer fans you may come across. A few of my managers at work are Brewers fans (this being Wisconsin and all) and I like to tease them about the Cubs. To be fair, though, I heard my share of it when the Brewers tied for the lead a week ago.
  8. For those of you familiar with Miller Park seating... How good are seats in section 231? I'll be there with my brother tomorrow.
  9. I wonder what he did to piss Lou off.
  10. I just hope the Cubs don't let up tomorrow. Putting the Brewers 5 games down to start August will be a very good thing. Fatty homers. 7-2 Cubs.
  11. Wow. Ryan Braun is human, after all.
  12. And reaching for balls with his pitching hand. And stomping around and getting all pissed off when someone makes an error behind him. And I love that he's an awesome hitter. He's not an automatic out. But, that intensity also makes him awesome, so you take the bad with the good in his case. Z for Cy!
  13. Eyre and Cedeno to Baltimore for Sherill?
  14. yes you would. i'd hate to see the trades you'd have made based on your reactions in the game thread. Was this little dig really necessary?
  15. Exactly, I'd have been ok with a split in this series... losing to CC and Sheets, but now that we've won those... it almost feels like anything less than a 3-1 series win will almost be a let down. At this point, splitting the series would definitely be a letdown when the pitching matchups are considered. Obviously coming into the series a split probably would have been satisfactory but when you win the first two and have the pitching advantage in the last two games, you have to take at least 3 of 4. Agreed. I would have taken a split too, but winning the Sheets and Sabathia starts changes things quite a bit. We need to sweep now. Put our foots on their throats. And we need to keep the foot there, as opposed to going in the crapper again and erasing the lead
  16. I'd have offered DLee for Tex, but that's just me and I'd probably make a lousy GM. Any deal would have hinged on a long-term deal, though.
  17. This must be a blister that's down to the bare bone, because who needs several weeks to heal from a blister? Warm soaks and neosporin should have cleared it up by now. thing is though, once the blister heals, the callous that was there falls off and what takes the time is rebuilding that callous...if you try to do so too fast, a new blister forms. True. I guess when you hear "blister" you think something like a scrape or a cut that would be cleared up in a few days. It's just really frustrating with him. Just once, I'd like him to go one entire season without one single trip to the DL. Just one season with us.
  18. You mean like a lot of the blister experts who were in the original Wood blister thread that said he'd be back in a week, tops?
  19. Did he have any problems with the announcers in San Fran?
  20. I'll take Saito. Or Broxton. Or Kemp, if you twist my arm.
  21. Come on, man. You can't dangle details like that in front of us and then not expect us to want to know them. What are your past experiences with him?
  22. if only they made the schedules Gotta wonder which strings Selig is pulling behind the scenes though. I've noticed there haven't been as many choice games on the weekends in Milwaukee too. Maybe it's coincidence, maybe not. There are very few Cubs series during the weekend in Milwaukee anymore. There used to be at least one per year when the Brewers first came into the league.
  23. This must be a blister that's down to the bare bone, because who needs several weeks to heal from a blister? Warm soaks and neosporin should have cleared it up by now.
  24. I liked the midnight eastern deadline better, not the 4pm one.
  25. Not that I want to get into this discussion for the 100th time...but... You cannot blame him for the loss; 9 professionals on the diamond should have had the mental wherewithal to not get flustered and distracted. However, to say he "had nothing to do with losing that game" is inaccurate. I believe if Alou had caught that ball, the fan-graph would have climbed higher and the other "Mo" on the field - momentum - would have carried either Prior or AGonz avoiding their mental miscues. Also if the Castillo foul ball is caught, Castillo doesn't walk, there are two outs and A-Gonz is think first base instead of thinking double play. A small difference, but a significant one. Returning to my original caveat, however, the 9 professionals should have had the mental wherewithal to persevere. Even without Bartman's intereference, there is no guarantee that Alou catches that ball. It was a difficult catch.
