  1. And give him a pat on the back! I wouldn't mind that. If the players didn't want their names on a list of cheaters, then they shouldn't have cheated. It's that simple. Just like if you don't want to go to jail, don't commit crimes. Easy as pie.
  2. Even if Bartman doesn't attempt to catch the ball, it was a difficult catch and there's no guarantee Alou comes down with it. He may have caught it, but if you look at the tape is glove is just above the top of the wall. He could have hit the wall on the way down and the ball could have been knocked loose. Alex Gonzalez booting an easy DP ball bears 10,000 times more blame than Bartman.
  3. Jesus Christ. I'm so sick of ESPN bringing up Bartman and 1908 every single [expletive] time the Cubs play on ESPN. You can bet the house, the car, the wife, the bank account, and the kids that they'll have mentioned one or both by the 4th inning at least.
  4. I want to know who's leaking the names.
  5. The Marlins won in 2003. The Sox won in '04.
  6. Does Joe Girardi need a new assistant to bring him coffee and make sure all his lineup cards are stocked?
  7. This made me laugh. And not because the Cubs can't win the world series but the way I think you were saying it makes me laugh. It made me laugh because they can't win the World Series. You're always so negative. Need a pick me up? I'm trying to be more positive. Today was a great game, and the Cubs are finally playing to their full potential. If everyone gets healthy and plays the way we all know they can, the Central should be ours going away. It's just that they're the Cubs, and I won't believe they can win the World Series until it actually happens.
  8. Good things happen when we score runs. Funny how that works.

  10. In a deal like this, I'd hinge it on Dunn signing a long-term deal. Maybe you'd be able to flip Bradley for a speedy CF'er if you got Dunn. This is why I hate the trade deadline in the middle of the damn afternoon, because it gives the GM's 8 less hours of wheeling and dealing. Make it midnight EST like it always was. One of the things I loved most on my birthday was waking up and immediately turning on ESPN to see all the trades that went down.
  11. I'd be happy to take him out for a Whamburger and some French Cries.
  12. Has Wang ever run into Colon?
  13. This is probably more speculation than anything else. I'd be very shocked to hear that this trade had any sort of teeth to it. Probably people throwing around trade scenarios just for the sake of discussion.
  14. I'm surprised that Bradley's OBP is as high as it is for as badly as he's struggled with the bat this year.
  15. Guh? No Fukudome? And catch Jake Fox for the love of all that is holy, Lou! Hampton is a lefty And Hill sucks. What does Hill sucking have to do with Fukudome not starting? Nothing. But there is no situation in which Koyie Hill is the better option than Jake Fox.

  18. Yeah, but it's all the front office. We still need to win games. This don't mean [expletive] if we don't win. And, we ain't winning. Building a good core for the future, though. Get some competent Front office people in there and the Pirates could be contenders inside of 5 years.
  19. Dusty had a fetish for crappy infielders. Lou has a fetish for crappy relievers.
  20. Even if you take away the last 5 years of his career, he still ends up at 3697 hits, which is still the National League record, and still HOF worthy.
  21. And there goes the no-hitter, too. Hell of a run, though.
  22. Alexi Castilla just walked. Perfect game over, no-hitter still intact.
