  1. There is no in-between with him. He's either great or he's awful.
  2. Gonna be one of those 10-8 games today, I think.
  3. Damn, just short. Riot gave it a ride.
  4. Kouske singles to left. What are his numbers since moving into the leadoff spot?
  5. Dustyball is alive and well in Cincy. Say what you want about Lou, but he's 6,000 times better than Dusty.
  6. NICE DP guys! 5-4-3, Inning over.
  7. Certainly. If they acquire Zaun, they might as well start printing off World Series tickets.
  8. I'm not from Chicago, so the White Sox are just kinda "there" for me. I don't like them, I don't hate them. I just don't pay any attention to them, really. Good for Buehrle. A perfect game is the ultimate baseball accomplishment. I'd be living it up all night on the South Side if I were him. Edit: Fun little fact--- the first two perfect games ever came within 5 days of each other back in 1880. Lee Richmond did it June 12, 1880 pitching for Worcester against Cleveland. On June 17 of that year, Monte Ward did it for Providence against Buffalo.
  9. Pie wasn't in the group. Here's off the top of my head who I remember us having. Corey Patterson-he flopped it happens. Mark Prior-I would say his '03 and '04 made him worth the hype. Bobby Hill-He turned into Aramis Ramirez and Kenny Lofton. That worked out well for us. Hee Seop Choi-He turned into DLee. That worked out well for us. Carlos Zambrano Juan Cruz-we should have been more patient with him. David Kelton-He flopped it happens. Angel Guzman-having a great year, really wish he would have stayed healthy. So basically even though you claim that whole group of guys flopped, we actually got productive 3 and 4 hitters who play plus defense at the corners, an ace, and a great bullpen arm. It seems like all the "he flopped it happens" guys are all hitters who never developed plate discipline, correct? Pretty clear to me we have been deficient in developing great hitters in our farm system. Pitching has been a better endeavor. So we need to get some better hitting instruction on our farm. I don't see why 30 years goes by and we don't do this. I agree, I'm all for a new regime. But, to say everythign cub was overrated is a bit much. When we had that highly reguarded system it was warranted. When Kelton, Montanez, Hill, and Choi are regarded as your "infield of the future" and all were projected as all-stars, and every single one fizzled, your system was overrated.
  10. According to Peter Gammons (I know, I know), the Red Sox had an offer on the table from the Indians that was Victor Martinez for Clay Buccholtz straight up. They turned it down and then traded for LaRoche. I'd have made that trade in 2 seconds flat.
  11. Agreed, he's a professional hitter when he's not trying to hit home runs every time up. He fell in love with his flukey power surge. Thankfully he's gotten that nonsense out of his head.
  12. Score some runs today, jerkasses. Preferably, more runs than the Phillies.
  13. Sherrill, Marmol, Guzman, and Ryan (if he regains form) in our bullpen would be absolutely sick. However, I'm much more interested in a bat. I'd love Freddy Sanchez at the top of the order.
  14. I don't think a fire sale will happen. But this offseason some major changes need to take place, starting with the General Manager, and working down to the offense.
  15. How Not To Run A Major League Baseball Team by Jim Hendry That too
  16. Why the Cubs can't get Halladay by erik316wttn: Their farm system sucks. The end.
  17. Was it Philly in which Barrett made a really boneheaded play at the end of the game, and the winning run came in to score from 3rd? I think I've forcibly evicted the other details from my mind.
  18. Isn't it just like the Cubs to get you believing again and then completely suck a dick like they have tonight? I just had the feeling when Ibanez was up in the 1st that they weren't getting out of that inning unscathed.
  19. Bill Hall should be tested for illegal narcotics.
