Good to know I'm back on your radar. I was beginning to feel neglected. Are Erik, Davearm and Hollansdsworths Mug on vacation? Still, if I make I trade proposal I acknowledge that it's not likely but everyone involve gets something of value. Never have I made a suggestion in which the other team involved seemingly go out of the way to help the Cubs while they acquire our spare parts. Nope, I'm here. -
Did our offer to Pujols actually come out? How long and how much?

With all due respect to your logic, I disagree completely. If we can lock Fielder up to a long-term deal he will still be here and contributing when we're good. You don't let a guy like that walk away just because you're "not good enough yet." If you can improve your team, do it.

I call BS on that report. Maybe they don't have the cash to match the exorbitant price Boras is probably asking for, but that doesn't mean they won't be players.

As much as I like Theo, I really don't see him swooping in there last-minute and snatching Pujols out from under everyone else, a la Cliff Lee.

This is so weird...why would the Cubs even be bothering being involved when they're almost surely not going to match those years. And it's not like they can drive the bidding up any higher than the Marlins already have. Pretty much what I'm thinking, too.

How is Fielder not elite? At worst he's one of the 3 best sluggers in the game today. Fielder is one-dimensional. He's very good at that one dimension. His all-around game is not in the elite category, for me anyway. His WAR numbers bear this out. I will plead ignorance here and will defer to those who know sabermetrics better than I do, but I seem to recall that 1B is one of the least important defensive positions, correct? I'd be willing to trade whatever deficiencies he may have in the field for what he could bring with his bat.

I'm sure if we were one of the top contenders for him it would have come out by now. We probably made him an offer, but like everyone else he's going to go with whoever throws the most money at him, and that probably won't be us.

He's really not. He's only finished in the top 3 in the NL in oWAR once, and that was 2009. (Also, just because I had to go on his B-R page to find that, his middle name is Semien. Come on.) :lol: :lol:
