  1. Someone alert ESPN: Aramis Ramirez has struck out with men on base. I repeat: Aramis Ramirez has struck out with men on base.
  2. I'm starting to pin Aram's struggles on Hendry at this point. Yes, I know Hendry can't hit for him. However, whatever Aram is doing isn't working. Lou hasn't moved him down in the lineup or forced him to get extensive help from Jaramillo. Therefore, it's up to the next person in charge, Jim Hendry, to step in and force Lou to do something about this. However, he's content to just let Lou let him "work through it" and be an automatic out in the middle of the lineup for the time being. I don't think GM's should influence day-to-day decisions regarding the players, as I feel that's the manager's job, but in this case he certainly has both the authority and the good reason to step in.
  3. Just turned on the WGN TV broadcast. What's with the caps?
  4. Wells retires the leadoff batter, making this start automatically better than his last one.
  5. He really has earned more PT than Lou is giving him.
  6. Not terrible, but I'd go... Fukudome Castro Byrd Soriano Lee Soto Ramirez Fontenot Wells Also, is Cashner going to be available out of the pen today? I wonder if Lou will want to play with his new toy. Why would you put Byrd 3rd? He's been terrible in May and why Fonenot 8th? Kind of hard to keep all of the "terrible" hitters out of the heart of the lineup. Lee and Rammy haven't been great either. I guess the lineup Lou has is fine. My changes I feel were merely cosmetic, but I can even see some flaws in it. I guess there is no "perfect" lineup with that combination of players.
  7. He went on the DL with ruptured suck. Will Cashner be available for today's game?

  9. Petition to change "Cubs" back to "Idiots." It seemed to work well.
  10. Wasn't the scoreboard designated as a landmark by the state of Illinois a few years back, along with the Marquee and the ivy? I could just be imagining this, but if I'm right there would be an awful lot of hoops to jump through to make even the slightest changes to it.
  11. 19 perfect games in nearly 200,000 MLB games and you "figured" he'd get one? :-s you'd shut your mouth if you know what's good for you Fight! Fight! Fight!
  12. This is Pujols's 2nd career 3 HR game at Wrigley, correct? I know for a fact it isn't the first. I was at this game, my one trip to Wrigley per year. We were up 8-2 after 3 and just got done pounding the crap out of Matt Morris. Then the bullpen exploded. We lost 11-8 and Pujols had 3 HR and a double. Other fans will remember that game as the one where Hawkins completely flipped the F out at the umpire.
  13. Instead of jumping up and down at the plate they should all sit and sip tea while discussing their portfolios.
  14. Man, I'm pissed I missed the last inning of that perfect game. There have been so many lately it'll probably be 20 years before the next one (yes I know that's not really how it works).
  15. And three within less than one calendar year. Amazing!
  16. Dammit, now I have to update the perfect game thread AGAIN
  17. I don't usually watch regular season baseball games with teams that don't involve the Cubs, but Monday ESPN has a great pitching matchup: Ubaldo Jimenez vs. Tim Lincecum.
  18. I nominate Lee and Ramirez.
  19. From the looks of the pitcher, it appears he ate him.
  20. Milton Bradley for Carlos Silva = win
  21. Something tells me you weren't saying this before yesterday. We could probably get more for Wells, and we don't know if last year was a fluke or not.
  22. Up 4 in the 8th I'd have let Z hit for himself and let him pitch the 9th.
