  1. Dude is a beast. All the more impressive seeing as he has to pitch in Coors on a regular basis.
  2. I always thought that this added to his legend just a bit. He was obviously done, but had one more "Ruthian" performance, then hung it up.
  3. Maybe Grabow could earn his keep and kneecap him in the clubhouse. Nothing too bad, just enough for a DL stint.
  4. I wish him all the best, but of course he has to realize he has problems after he leaves Chicago, and not while he was here.
  5. I think 85 is about as good as it will get, and that means the bullpen has to stop sucking and Lee and Rammy start hitting.
  6. Really? He's a 32 year old who's having one of the best seasons of his career. Plus, he's only under contract through 2011 (with a 2012 $16m option/$2m buyout). I know he wants to be traded to a contender, which likely rules the Cubs out, but if Hendry has an opportunity to get Oswalt in a fair deal, he should take it. Heck, I don't think anyone in the system should be off-limits in a trade for Oswalt. I disagree. What's the point? Oswalt is a good pitcher, and if we needed a starter I'd be all for this, but starting pitching isn't our problem. We have aging corner infielders and our bullpen outside of Marmol or Marshall couldn't get me out most days. I don't know if trading a Jackson or Castro (he's still a prospect even though he's up) is worth it for a pitcher who likely won't fix what's wrong with this team.
  7. Some people are incredibly stubborn and are very prideful. Aramis may be one of those people.
  8. Can he really be any worse than Grabow at this point?
  9. It's gotta be something with his shoulder. Players decline past 30; some gradually and some just hit the wall one year, but if Aramis is a "hit the wall" type player, I don't know if it would happen this dramatically. There has to be something else wrong. I think it's time for management to step in and insist he goes through a slew of tests to figure out exactly what's physically not right, or accept help from Jaramillo instead of trying to work through it on his own.
  10. Always sad to see anyone die in the prime of their life. RIP
  11. I did enjoy the play, but I didn't have the reaction that you thought I would. But yeah, I had Ted Lilly Game 2 flashbacks with that one. At least Morgan put in some effort going after the ball. There was a chance it would have been at least a triple even if he hadn't thrown his glove down.
  12. Wow, an uncalled-for personal attack in the very first post of a thread. Stay classy, Rocket.
  13. I'm a huge Kerry homer. I would love to see him retire in a Cubs uniform. Just have one last season in the sun at Wrigley, perform somewhat decently, and have Kerry Wood day on the last home game of the regular season. It will never happen, but he's one of my all-time favorite Cubs, so I can dream.
  14. Well, here's the 2nd out, and quite possibly the 3rd as well.
  15. And the Philly fans go quiet in terror of the impeding slugger known as Fontenot.
  16. Because he can throw a baseball with his left hand.
  17. To me, there are very very few things in baseball more frustrating on a day-to-day basis than a relief pitcher who sucks hard and keeps getting trotted out there day after day, like the manager needs to prove some sort of point.
  18. Lou must not have wanted to win today. Grabow shouldn't even be on a major league roster right now.
  19. Ugh, Grabow sucks. It's getting to the point where I can say that I literally could not do much worse than Grabow and actually be able to back it up.
