  1. Oh sweet summer child Don't ruin my dreams...
  2. I'm fine with them sitting Fields for the entire season so he doesn't get hurt or develops bad habits with this crap line. Keeping Dalton out there assumes a 6-11 season and hopefully firing Pace & Nagy. Please find the AK of the NFL world...
  3. yes, I do. And I remember when Kevin Orie was going to be rookie of the year. But I also remember when we sent Kerry Wood down in 1998 after ST and someone said "if they have five better starters than him, they're winning it all." McNown was a training camp holdout who sat behind Shane Mathews and was purposely eased into nfl games one series at a time. This and they were opposite styles of QBs.
  4. I can't think of a worse birthday gift.
  5. Davis hit his 10th HR in his 2nd AB and was HBP in his 3rd AB.
  6. It is a marginal step forward, but, man, I am not ready to get excited about a 26 year old making his debut. While his age might limit him given he's in his peak years w/out being in the majors year, it's more of his inability to put together the combo of hitting with power with the increased contact levels. He projects as a 4th Of'er that might be a starter on a bad club but that's as good If not better than anything they got close to the majors (obviously Davis is excluded).
  7. I don't like buying jerseys regardless but I wouldn't do it, especially growing up hating the Mets more than any other team. However, it would be tacky. Not as tacky as putting your own last name or a nickname like "J-Dog 69" but not far enough from that.
  8. It's definitely different, it seems based more on actual talent rather than looking better than previous QBs. Trubisky looked better because of how awful Glennon was those 1st 4 games as well as Hoyer/Barkley taking the majority of the snaps the year before. Hell, a Super 8 hotel seems nice if you've been in an Econolodge the week before. Can't wait for 8/14, even for one drive.
  9. Unless you traded White for pennies on the dollar, Rose didn't make sense once Ball was acquired. Get a role player on the wing who can shoot and see what can happen. I'm actually excited to see this team on a fast break as well as Williams with a PG. I know I said he was likely a role player rather than an impact player but last year didn't give him a chance to perform well and it wasn't his fault.
  10. Fwiw, I would throw Heuer into the mix of Alzolay, Thompson, Steele as far as finding out what you might have in the SP future. I'd love to see a piggyback of the 4 in two spots of the rotation.
  11. Madrigal has accuracy issues from 2b combine that and an average arm, I don't want to find out if he can become a below average 3b both offensively and defensively.
  12. Despite the likelihood of it occuring in the very near future, the Cubs will have to develop players who aren't drafted top 10 overall.
  13. If true. Strip the 2010 title, make everyone within the organization eligible for civil suits both with the Hawks and future crimes, and punish the current squad with loss of picks, etc. It should cripple the franchise. It's sad that there isn't much difference between this and Penn St.
  14. Be the only person on the Andy Dalton bandwagon.
  15. Hopefully, this becomes a precursor of things to come.
  16. Generally agree with all this. I think 120-145 is the right amount of games, don’t hate the idea of designated off days. Don’t know about twice a week though league wide. I like having some baseball on every day of the year for a few months, maybe do something more like AL is off Monday’s and NL is off Thursday’s or do it by divisions or something if the scheduling could work. The point of having two off days during the week is you can go to a 4 man rotation which will improve play as well as manage pens better.
  17. I'd also institute a salary cap and floor as well as a draft lottery for MLB.
  18. Pointless and dumb. End shifts, DH in both leagues, robot umps, 120 games per season with designated off days of Mon and Thurs and one series a year vs IL rival and that's it. Most importantly, understand that until they can market players like other leagues. MLB is wasting its time trying to match other sports on a national level and try and stick to regional marketing 1st until they can market someone like Griffey or a Sosa/McGwire chase.

They are a good team though. Meh, they’re going to win 80-something games which is decent. The White Sox are currently the rare example of the manager actually having an impact on their overall record (of course it's in a negative manner).
  20. IU would've been better off with Beilein, IMO.
  21. It's good to see the Illini as a #1 seed in the month of March. Well deserved too.
  22. As bad as the Bears have been at drafting and developing QBs, their inability to do so with pass rushers is equally bad. Floyd never developed into a pass rusher and before that wasn't Mark Andersen the last one?
  23. Having Pettine overlook Desai is the equiv to the babysitter having sex on the couch while the child is upstairs doing his homework.
  24. Talk me out of my irrational love for Kevin Made...

Trade Young and play White 40 minutes per game. Although, I'm in the minority as far as wanting to trade Lavine.
