    And if there's anyone who truly would appreciate it, it's Santo. Is there a Cubs fan who wouldn't cry during his induction? I get choked up watching, or just thinking about, his number retirement ceremony.

    The people I hear from out here feel the opposite way, they get mad when Lincecum gets pulled. The radio people get very excited about this. We'll see how they react when Lincecum gets hurt.

    These guys who played in the National League were terrific athletes for their time. The only professional team sport back then was baseball. Every town had a team and that town's best athletes played baseball, and nothing really else. Best players on the town teams (that town's best athletes) went to play semi-pro/indy league ball, the best players from those teams went on to the minor leagues in the Eastern League and Western League, the best players from those teams went on into the National League. There were less teams and roster spots were fewer back then, so it was especially hard to bust into the majors back then. This is a pic of the New York Giants from the early 1890's.     I think they should get rid of divisions. 4 best teams make the playoffs, period.

    I wish Edmonds had been on the Cubs when he was still awesome. As soon as the player puts on the Cubs uniform, I'm all for them.

    How would you know this? He's pretty much come out and said it. I'm friends with a couple of O's fans and they've told me the same. Ah gotcha...I thought you were trying to be one of those posters who pretends they can read a player's mind. Normally I would roll my eyes at the "doesn't care about baseball" guesses about players, but this one seems to be true. There is an article in the last ESPN magazine with an interview of Bedard by other players, and he pretty much admits it. He also hates pitching in day games. His numbers during the day are fine, but doesn't sound like he would be happy here.
