  1. I recall a game this year where Z gave up a hr in the early innings and then plunked the next guy in the back with a fastball. It was so obvious that Santo denounced Z's actions as unacceptable. That sounds like the actions of a jerk to me. Then again I am not a Cub fan so it is easy for me to make a generalization that probably is baseless much like calling Oswalt a jerk. As for Barrett, I don't hate him, but I don't like how lippy he is. Like Gusdog said, there is an appropriate way to deal with such situations with players like Oswalt (assuming he was wrong and is a a-hole). Likewise in the Cardinal/Cub debacle he was one of the main idiots along with Morris and Zambrano. I think a good comparison is Edmonds for Cub fans. Jim Edmonds has not done anything to warrent the hatred he recieves other than being a good player who plays for the Cardinals. That is natural. Even great players and people like Sandberg, Ozzie, Pujols and D. Lee are not liked during their playing career by the opposing side (generally speaking). I for one could not stand Sandberg when he played. Now, I have a great deal of respect for him and think he is what is right about baseball.
  2. Matt Morris hit someone after a homerun? I don't recall that. I remember him throwing behind someone during the bean ball wars of 2004. And if memory serves correct, I think the Cubs hit more Cardinal players than vise versa. In fact, I think the Cubs pitchers lead in that category last year. Either way, I am not arguing that Morris, Oswalt, or Zambrano are a-holes. I just think it is funny that one person thinks Oswalt is an ahole because of an arument between he and two other players. With that logic, than anyone who gets in a fight must be an a-hole.
  3. Is Zambrano an a-hole? Your discription sounds familiar to the action of Carlos yet he is loved by the Cubby faithful. I guess one guys a-hole is another guy favorite player.
  4. I disagree, agree, disagree. First of all, Bonds is not a good defensive player anymore; his arm is average at best. He is not a base stealing threat anymore either. I agree that D. Lee needs to prove this year is not an anomaly, but he still gets my vote over those previously mentioned as best All Around player. Lee is a great defender and athlete. Yet, I don't think he is a good leap above Pujols now. Maybe a month ago you could say that but now AP is within striking distance of the BA title and hr. With all that said, AP and Lee are 2 of the top 5 best All Around Players in baseball this year.
  5. I guess for the same reason most Cub fans hate Jim Edmonds. Barrett appears to be real cocky, and the whole stand off with Oswalt was stupid. The Cubs pitchers were plunking hitters left and right last year and Barrett gets upset because Oswalt did the same thing.
  6. UK wrote: I do not want the Cardinal pitchers to throw at anyone unless warrented (bean ball after a hr, etc..). To me the brush back pitch is just as affective and you make your point. And I don't think Zambrano is deserving of such a pitch because he is no real threat as a hitter. If you want to send a message it has to be at ARam or D. Lee. Those are the studs on the team just like Albert and Jimmy.
  7. MLB has a poll for the best All Around player. I find it comical that ARod does not make the list but Jeter and Carlos Beltran do. The other candidates are Vlad, Miguel Tejada, Ivan Rodriguez, and Chipper Jones. I wonder how IR and Chipper get selected in front of more deserving candidates like A. Jones (this year, great defense with offense this year), Pujols (has been versatile and has 11 SB this season), D. Lee (great athlete and defense at first, and great offense this year), and Ichiro. I consider Vlad the best All Around player in baseball, then Tejeda, Pujols, and Lee. I guess MLB thinks that a 1st basemen cannot be the best all around. Moreover, they must think that Jeter be added to every list. But it is hard to not consider both Albert and Lee considering their offensive numbers, defense, and SB numbers.
  8. What is the forecast looking like? Will the delay be very long?
  9. What is the forcast for the weather? Do you see this game being delayed? Thanks Wiz
  10. Do you think this is on purpose? I think LaRussa is capable of throwing the game. (not really just echoing some people's opinion a last year when the Cards were playing other WC teams)

  12. I have been a Greg Maddux fan for a long time. And there is no doubt that he is given a different strike zone than most pitchers. Was strike two really a strike? Santo even stated that could have gone either way. Which means it was a ball. Just wanted to get your opinion.
  13. I would hope that is in the past as is Zambrano's hitting Edmonds 2 times. It has been a long time since the Cubs and Cardinals had a heated moment and I hope it stays that way.
  14. JD wrote: JD, can you believe that a professional or college manager or coach calling a player by a nickname like G-Unit? It is like the parent who wants to be a friend to their child.
  15. On the Cubs radio broadcast Dusty said we are going to start G-Unit on Monday. G-Unit! Now that is funny. Does he think he is one of the players?
  16. With this bit of information, I have called TLR for a favor. And he has allowed me to make out the lineup Card for the rest of the Cubs series. Diaz C (I think he has the tools to be a fine leadoff hitter) Mahoney CF (Great contact guy with a high BA, I think????) Seabol SS (I think he is still with the big club?) So 1st (He is a power hitter deluxe, plus a nice big target at 1st- 5ft 0in) Mabry 2nd (left handed 2nd baseman let's give it a shot) Luna P (he has a good arm) Marquis RF (see if he can maintain the BA as a regular player) Eck 3rd (I want to see if he can actually make a throw across the diamond JRod LF (I just want to see if he can continue to hit) This should help Dusty maintain his job security until next year. Plus bring some Cub fans over to Cardinal Nation.
  17. I second that motion. This board is well designed and the fans are very respectful. I like that the mods actually keep the discussions civil and on topic.
  18. JC wrote: I would not be surprised if the Cards made a move for Furcal and moved Eck to second. This would make a lot of sense because the Cardinals need an offensive player for next year and will be unlikely to find a great offensive outfielder. Plus they should have more money moving into the new stadium.
  19. ITB wrote: What is so funny about this statement? I guess I will take the award if you are going to hand it out though. \:D/ I would first like to thank the mods for allowing me the opportunity to post on this board. I would also like to thank my mom and Dad. Don't worry dad I hope they find a cure for being a Cub fan. I would also like to say I love you to my wife and kids.
  20. Duh! If you cannot laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at.
