  1. And....... done.
  2. Look, Hendry is probably more than a little ticked off right now. He gave Bradley a generous contract--overly generous, actually--and gave him something Bradley had been longing for, stability. After sporting six uni's in seven years, he'd finally have a team to call his own for the next three. Bradley obviously loved the support so much he chose to crap on it. Blame Hendry for doing again what he's done so much of in the past--throwing a ton of money at the problem hoping it will go away. But don't blame him for a second for his reaction to Bradley's "apology."
  3. http://pittsburgh.pirates.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=6290955 Ahhhhhh, that wasn't very choreographed... but it was still pretty cool. Didn't realize it was last month. He does get some serious air, though. Impressive I didn't think it was that bad, either. He got some serious air. Thank God Fielder didn't try that. Shock waves would have caused California to break loose.
  4. I've often wondered why I spend so much time, energy and money on this team. I wonder if I've set my sons up for a lifetime of misery. I wonder why I care so much. But switching allegiances? Never. They're like a drug. I'd probably have to go to a halfway house. Sounds like it could make for a cheap, B-grade cable reality show. Help me name it.
  5. Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! In my opinion, it would have been a little better if Fielder had no idea it was coming. Then it wouldn't have seemed quite so pre-planned.
  6. Headline currently on Cubs.com: "Cubs in need of rally after Big Z's uneven return." Can't they just say "sucky?"
  7. Two runs scored in one inning. This is what passes for an "offensive explosion" these days!
  8. If the Cubs do lose this game, they need to be shipped off to the glue factory. And they should take Dick Stockton with them.
  9. The Cardinals went 17-7 in their first 24 games. Then they played sub-.500 baseball for the better part of three months. But they've really turned it on these last two weeks, coinciding with an incredibly sucky stretch of Cubs' baseball. Ugh.
  10. This is kinda where I'm at, too. With the first couple of blown saves came some disappointment. The next several blown saves were cause for much anger. Now, it's just sad.
  11. If the Cubs split with LA and the Cards take 3 of 4 from San Diego, the Cubs would be seven games back, not 6.5. For this reason alone, the Cubs will not win the division.
  12. Fred, the numbers you posted are the ones I was referring to. Thank you. Amazing to me that that the Cubs have really not been able to improve themselves in that area all season long. What started in April pretty much continues to this day. And it sucks.
  13. Is there any place to find what this statistic was for the Cubs at the end of every month? Seems like this problem surfaced its ugly head in April and has been an issue all-season long.
  14. All these flyouts are freaking me out! Because it's Gregg, everything coming off the bat looks like it's crushed!

  17. Fuld caught it before I could launch my own expletive.
  18. I'm at a bar and just ordered another drink when I read your post. This is Greggs first save attempt since the blowups last weekend. fixed.
  19. Miles couldn't look more inept at the turn if he tried.
  20. That pisses me off, too. You're making millions of dollars. Run hard, dammit!! Play hard, or don't play at all. No kidding! Theriot had to turn it on and just barely made it befopre Bradley was tagged out. Throw in a couple of "dadgumits" and Brenly would have sounded a lot like our favorite broadcaster when something doesn't go the White Sox way.
  21. Brenly is really letting Theriot and the Cubs have it for their lack of hustle. Go Bob!!!
  22. Geez, you guys sound like you want to get rid of Aaron Miles or something!
  23. Maybe Ryan Dempster can teach him how to jump over the railing after a Cubs win. I told my 12 year old son Aaron Miles was being recalled. He sounded a lot like Ron Santo after a Brant Brown dropped flyball. Noooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
  24. The "Transactions" section of Wednesday's Kenosha News had this item in small print: San Diego Padres Released RHP Mark Prior. Pretty sad that Prior's release--if indeed this is the end of his career--is noted in an abbreviated sentence, considering how much potential the guy had.
  25. Because I know you're all wondering: From Monday's Trib: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-27-cubs-bits-chicago-jul27,0,4824668.story Hendry's going to be waiting a loooooooooooong time.
