  1. A player making contact and remaining completely on top of base but very briefly not actually having contact and being called out is just not 'right'. An over slide is a completely different thing. This. Overslides, over-running the base, those are completely different than Javy's slide. Again, I don't think the people who determined how replay was going to be used really considered a slight disconnect from the base. I look at it as a loophole that managers are exploiting. Especially since in instances like Javy's slide, it's incredibly subtle.
  2. I think it was Ernie Johnson talking the other night about a play similar to Javy's reversed call. He doesn't think temporary disconnect with the base should be reversed. Yes in the case of an over-slide or overrunning the base. But replay review was not really meant to correct calls like the Javy slide. I actually agree with him.
  3. Officially eliminated! :D
  4. If it's the same confidence the Cubs had after they beat the Cards last year, we'll be OK.
  5. Or better yet, Wainwright just gets shelled, the defense commits several errors, and the Cardinals are never in the game. This is my favorite option. I'd love to see the stands empty out while the Bucs crush the Cards.
  6. I guess we can finally put PTR out to pasture. Tommy ponied up big time!
  7. Horrible news. Hate to hear when stuff like this happens.
  8. The vaunted Cardinals offense has now scored 5 runs in their last four games against the Cubs. And four of them came in one game.
  9. Another murder in Chicago. Soler killed a baseball.
  10. All better now? Sorry, I wasn't very clear. When Ross threw out Diaz trying to steal, I was saying to Diaz to grab some pine. Diaz has a face only a mother could love. One more reason Addi is superior. Gameday bites me in the horsefeathers. My bad.
  11. He knew he was national TV and Hendricks had overshadowed him for the night and he would have none of that This
  12. Obviously he started his evening at Shannon's before the game. As usual.
  13. Fantastic performance by Hendricks tonight. Another poster suggested he gets the ball in game 1. He'll definitely get it in game 2. I'm a union supporter, but Joe West has got to go. Tonight, he cemented himself as the biggest horses a** to ever umpire a major league game. I can't believe I agree with Hawk Harrelson.
  14. I went to the game with my brother tonight. As he dropped me off, he said, "Let us never speak of this game again."
  15. My son and I were rather surprised CSN used this clip in the highlights immediately following the game. Doesn't take much of a lip reader to understand what Ross yelled out.
  16. I wasn't trying to be an ass. If people want to be ticked off about having Aroldis Chapman on the roster, that's fine by me. Some of the facts in this incident are irrefutable. Others are sketchy at best. My take: I'm not about to let bygones be bygones. I'm going judge Chapman by the way he conducts himself from here on out based on what happens next. How he conducts himself. Not on the field, but off. The leash will be very short. VERY short. And I'll be damned if I'm going to feel bad about it because someone else told me so.
  17. Thank you for telling me what to think. I wasn't sure before, but now I know. Please post your thoughts on EVERYTHING so I'll know how to think in the future.
  18. I'm not ashamed to admit I drooled when I read the stat lines Chapman has posted against NL opponents. It's at the bottom of the article. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-cubs-aroldis-chapman-20160725-story.html
  19. It would be even cooler if the Cubs win 9-0 and Chapman just gets to hang out and make small talk. That would be kind of cool if he popped into the dugout late in a blowout Cubs victory and got all huggy with his new teammates. While Clayton Richard was getting his bus ticket out of town.
  20. Yep, except Nightengale says its 4-1. Heyman's tweet says 4-1 and the SB Nation article citing Heyman says 3-1. ETA: Heyman said 4, SB Nation said 3-1 I wonder if there would have been a fourth player involved had Chapman signed an extension. Cubs might have told Yankees no extension = no fourth player. Maybe a fourth player is involved if the Cubs sign Chapman to an extension before he hits free agency?
