  1. Maybe explains why balls in the dirt don't bounce far away from Molina. It might not necessarily be pitchers putting gunk on the ball.
  2. There's almost no foul territory beyond the dugouts. Not that there was a lot to begin with. But those fans near the old bullpen areas are going to feel like they're sitting on the field.
  3. This has got to be killing the haters. I LOVE it!!! :yahoo:
  4. Yeah, I completely concur. I don't understand why baseball doesn't just end or stop this pitching debacle. I believe most "real" baseball fans consider this pitching delivery illegal and don't like it. I wish R. Manfred or whatever committee would just come out and define what a legal pitching motion is, i.e. pushing off the rubber once without dragging your backfoot before delivering the ball. I used to believe your backfoot had to have contact with the pitching rubber on the mound up to the moment you deliver the ball out of your hand as a pitcher. I don't know exactly how to define a "legal" pitching motion in precise terminology, but whatever the hell C. Capps is doing is NOT normal and seems like cheating... Let's say a righty is pitching from the stretch. Can he start with his left foot on the rubber and pivot 180 degrees on his right foot during his delivery? Yeah, it sounds difficult to do, but now the pitcher may only have to throw 58' instead of 60'-6". As long as the right foot always remained on the ground, wouldn't this be legal, too?
  5. Helluvan article. And with so, so many fans speaking out against Dexter, it's amazing how quiet the Cardinals organization is. Stick up for the guy!!!
  6. Love watching these videos! And listening to the crack of the bat is just... it's getting to me.
  7. Weird takeaway, but in that video I found it kind of amusing to see a Budweiser logo on a cart. Sponsors, sponsors everywhere!
  8. I'm in favor of speeding up the game after it goes into extra innings. The only time it may lead to sac bunts is if the visitors don't score in the top half... which is usually what happens if the home team gets a leadoff runner on anyhow. I'll put it another way--the rule doesn't really bother me. And like I said before, I'm interested to see what the data shows from testing.
  9. http://deadspin.com/report-mlb-to-experiment-with-starting-extra-innings-w-1792152486 I kinda like this idea, at least for now. I'm curious to see how the experiment plays out.
  10. http://deadspin.com/feds-cardinals-hacker-probably-leaked-to-deadspin-as-r-1791778599 Sounds like this could be coming to a conclusion soon. And it doesn't sound good for the Cards. :yahoo:
  11. Love the fan reax after Scissor's double. Cub fans are going crazy, The Reds fan in front has his mouth open in disbelief.
  12. Only 50 days until the first full squad workout!!! Thank you, 2016 Chicago Cubs, for making this the shortest offseason ever!!! Hardly feels like we've had a break from baseball. First spring training game is just 57 days away!!! :clapping: :yahoo: :stickman:
  13. She's done something no one else in a Cardinals hat has done before: kept her car between the lines. Hat and car come complete with a .22 breathalyzer reading.
  14. He clearly knew it was gone off the bat. Of course we all did. That's a great photo. That is a great photo. The ump, catcher, Ricketts in the background all tracking the flight of the ball. Seeing as how everyone is still watching the flight of the ball, I think Dex knew it was gone by the sound of contact, which was probably similar to a cannon going off.
  15. I think tonight I'll go to bed with the sweet dream that Dexter is doing us one more favor by trolling the Cardinals with a physical before signing with another team.
  16. My son is working as an usher. He only started last year. But he texted to say it's easily the smallest crowd he's ever seen for a game. Trying to find the record for the fewest combined wins by week 13 opponents. The Bears and Niners have only three. That's gotta be close.
  17. I can't wait for the first team that's out of the playoff race and slips some HGH in a players drink to limit service time. Wish they would have made it so FAs who were suspended (I'm looking at you, Jhonny Peralta) could only sign for league minimum upon their return.
  18. I have a 'moment' at least once a day where it dawns on me that they won the world series and I get a brief rush of endorphins as I think about it, and then I carry on with my day with a smile on my face. i have a license plate frame on my car. every time i walk to it and see it i smile. This thread is my happy place! When little things get me down, the posts here melt them away! \:D/
  19. I love how for years they were like "it's too difficult logistically we have to reserve hotel rooms" or something and now they just randomly decide that it's doable now. Glad though. Also glad we could take advantage of the last year of the rule in a backwards way. The thing is...HFA in the WS never really mattered...at least as far as competition... But this just makes so much more common sense this way. I'm glad it's gone, but I'm a little surprised by this move. In the past, MLB at times has been slow to reverse course on policy enacted by a former commissioner while he's still alive. Even when he's dead, for that matter. Sort of a way of saving the guy from being embarrassed by the reversal, I guess.
  20. http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/wrigley-field-looks-totally-different-under-construction-chicago-403860216.html?_osource=SocialFlowFB_CHBrand Pretty wild. ETA: Sorry for the crappy link. My iPad won't let me create a hyperlink.
  21. I'll never get sick of hearing Pat Hughes say the Cubs won the World Series It's been three weeks. I'm still pumping my fists like it happened yesterday. And I have a feeling it's going to be like this for a long time!
  22. This really needs to be shared on Gateway Redbirds. You guys are awesome!
  23. Book a spot somewhere on the Spothero app. Don't think that is even necessary. Shouldn't be hard to find street parking mid week during the offseason. I was just there on Friday. Parking is not an issue. Lots of spots available on the street just a couple blocks away from the marquee.
  24. Thank you for this link. Sooooooo many things wrong with this take. But I loved reading it. First time I've laughed since Tuesday night.
  25. The thing that bugs me is that it's seemingly unprovoked. I don't follow his Twitter account, but when he trolls other fans, it's because they've trolled him first. It seems as though this came out of nowhere.
