  1. Thanks but no thanks Barry. There's a reason why 30 GM's are taking a pass and it has nothing to do with collusion or Selig. It's just prudent business. I can appreciate the fact that some ppl would love to see 900-1000 OPS production out of LF (and then presumably the bench when Sori returns), but you're looking at this from a pure stats perspective. Barry is looking at possible jail time and is a massive black eye on the sport. Even under the best of circumstances he was, by all accounts, a clubhouse cancer. On top of this he's absolutely abysmal defensively of course. What GM wants any part of this scenario for a few extra HR's?
  2. No doubt Hendry would also mention three-time All Star. And probably "Our pitching coaches having been studying the video and have spotted the problem with Zito's mechanics yada yada"
  3. Chris Brown's story reminds me of Jose Cardenal, a Cubs OF in the 70's, who once took himself out of the lineup because of a sticky eyelash. One of my all-time fave injury stories is George Brett, who once broke his toe running from the kitchen to the living room to catch a Bill Buckner at-bat on TV.
  4. >> Last year, we didn’t say anything and they still kicked our butts. This particular comment almost makes it sound like the smack talk is part of some deliberate, premeditated strategy. It's just sort of pathetic. I doubt anyone on the Cubs is paying any attention.
  5. My thought exactly. I loved seeing that one get bumped too.
  6. Mel Rojas for me Ahh the Mel Rojas era ... good times. Smitty's 1983 is pretty hard to beat.
  7. Very nice montage Aramis Fan, great work as usual. Thanks for putting that together.
  8. yeah same here - they're offered on TradeSports.com at 27, i'm a buyer there.
  9. I agree - about damn time - but I thought the reason why Fukudome has been slotted in the 5-hole is because he wanted to bat there; it was his preference and not Lou's. Is that not true? If so, it sounds like Lou talked him into accepting the role of batting ahead of Lee/ARam.
  10. Joe Morgan sounded pretty morose towards the end of that game :D

  12. Nice hack AJP, now you can hit the showers jerk.
  13. Yeah, this. No one is immune to the occasional slump.
  14. Yes indeed, keyword being those quotation marks.
  15. Please Lou, give Jimmy Baseball the rest of the day off. His foot will thank you.
  16. Interesting discussion on this at BBTF. Before reading this I agreed with vance, I thought the pitcher would have to commit first. A few well-argued posts from one 'willcarrollsux' have changed my mind. http://www.baseballthinkfactory.org/files/newsstand/discussion/switch_pitcher_versus_switch_hitter_video/
  17. I'm surprised there aren't well-defined rules - there have been a few ambidextrous pitchers in pro ball, even at the MLB level. Greg Harris in 1995 for the Expos and this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Mullane 567 innings in 1884, even load balancing between two arms, is pretty amazing.
  18. Nice work Aramis Fan - thanks for that!
  19. I'll just let that one sink in.... Exactly.
  20. HA, I counted two today. This post should quoted until the freakin' bd crashes. Yes indeed, and that's no bull.
  21. Awesome .. simply awesome =D>
  22. It is hard to talk when you're bawling like a baby.
