  1. Count me in on the Byrnes-for-RF platoon bandWGN. His splits complement JJ's splits - the perfect platoon pair. (Something -- anything -- to distract me from the Prior/Tejada madness.)
  2. The Cards have a long history of turning lemons into lemonade. I'm not gonna cheer this move too loud ... I seem to remember some Cub fans applauding when the Cards signed Sanders, Carp, Eck etc (Grudz is about the only exception to that rule, underperforming his Cub numbers last year) Watch Juan put up an .850 OPS this year
  3. Amen brother. Tejada for Prior? :pig: I remember Jul 2004 shortly before the deadline, when everyone assumed that the Red Sox would demand *at least* Clement to start talking about a Nomar deal. This situation reminds me a little of that. If Tejada really is traded to the Cubs (0.01% chance, but we said that about Nomar in late Jul 2004 too), it will NOT be for Prior -- there will be a 3rd team involved.
  4. I agree 100% with dkwg. There are only two players I'd trade Prior straight up for, and Tejada ain't one of them. I'm far from sold on Bedard; way too much of a health risk + very so-so numbers (except for BB/K ratio). If the Cubs MUST consider a Prior trade, I wish the Phils were on Hendry's speed dial. They lost Padilla to FA and need a topline starter to replace him. Abreu would absolutely mash at Wrigley. I'm not crazy about the idea of platooning MM and JJ in LF, but it'd certainly bring out the best in JJ, plus Dustbag already fed MM a steady diet of lefties last year. Cubs would need more in return than just Abreu. I think Ryan Madson will blosoom into a very good starter, #2 calibre given the chance (I understand he's the favorite to take Padilla's spot in the Phils rotation this year). I *might* do Abreu + Madson + high prospect for Prior + (Hill or Guzman) + Pie + cash or some such. Or get a 3rd team involved e.g. Jays or Red Sox.
  5. ManEatingTarp, oh my ... is your sig a picture of 'that' play from the '85 WS? And I guess I should also ask if your s/n is in reference to 'that' rain delay in the '85 NLCS (both dumb questions probably)
