  1. In decreasing order of probability. Nice work Bob!

  4. Yeah ... hopefully Tony wasn't on the can.
  5. Alas, poor Stevie Eyre! I knew him, Horatio. He's a lefty, therefore he'll be picked up by some team this month.
  6. My 2nd post in this thread, and I'll keep quoting it til Jimmy stops going yard.
  7. Serious injury aside, how cool would THAT have been though?? :)
  8. Bittersweet, but I love how Kerry immediately puts his head down and calmly starts his HR trot while Wrigley erupts. Almost 5 years later, and it still hurts bad.
  9. Watching the game on replay now - you know I think you can actually see the curvature of the spacetime continuum between the pitchers mound and 1B when CC and Prince are out there.
  10. As someone who enjoys reading the game threads but posts sporadically, I have to say the tolerance level is a tad low. The negative posters post mostly as a means of venting after tough losses like today. They're voicing their fears, which many of us share but don't say out loud. I say let 'em vent. Live and let live and all that. As a side note, I really really hate the fuggin Marlins. So much.
  11. Wuertz is in AAA. oops thanks - I missed that move - oh right, that's when Hart came up.
  12. Nice work Shark! Time to put up a crooked number and hopefully Lou will let Wuertz close it out. No appearances in the past 15 days and just two in July?? I know he got smoked by Cincy but wow.
  13. About the healing process : It's not so much about the time it takes for the blister to heal, it's about the time it takes to rebuild the callous. A healed blister is still very thin, fragile skin. That skin is easily ripped to shreds after a few fastballs, then it's another week to wait for that to heal. Remember the Ismael Valdez era? That guy had blister issues for years.
  14. Are you sure? I really don't think he's done a single TV interview, but I could be wrong. Google turns up nothing. The only "interview" (more like a stalking) I know of is this one with ESPN writer Wayne Drehs a few years ago: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/eticket/story?page=bartman
  15. I predict Wolf will be in a neck brace by the end of the year, along with Wigginton and Tejada.
  16. I've always been a Durham fan - I wanted the Cubs to pick him up two years ago. I think this is a great move for the Brewers that gets even better the more PT time Durham gets. He's historically done well against the Cubs, lifetime 821 OPS w/a 384 OBP .. ugh.
  17. Bob Gibson, game 1 of the 1968 WS ... sort of a quality start: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ixTNIFlBJZQ Curt Gowdy play-by-play, Harry color analyst
  18. I just love that last pair of pictures. It's a guessing game. Awesome vid. That changeup is a thing of beauty.
  19. Plus, we've all seen foul balls deflected after hitting a few upstretched bare hands. I really don't want to be in the path of a hard hit ball after it was deflected by a guy two rows in front of me, but if I am in the path I definitely want a glove. IMO, if you're reasonably facile with a glove and you are sitting along the foul lines, I see nothing wrong or embarrassing at all in bringing it. You are decreasing the risk to you and those around/behind you who might not be paying enough attention, or do not want to deal with a foul ball coming their way.
  20. :D Agree on both counts! This might get me kicked off a Cubs board, but I've stared and marveled at footage of Bob Gibson - the guy was practically on the first base line after releasing the ball.
  21. I'm actually surprised tragedies like this aren't more common when you consider that over half a million pitches are thrown over the course of a full MLB season. And I'm also surprised the glove-at-the-ballpark issue is getting more airplay in this thread than the safety netting issue.
