  1. "Beg your pardon...."
  2. What type of timetable are you putting on getting Texas back to a BCS level program? 2012 or 2013 at the latest. I am hoping for 8 wins next season, and competing for a BCS spot the year after. #2 recruiting class last year, currently #1 this year and the level of HS talent for the next recruiting class just in the state of Texas is great (Jonathan Grey and Mario Edwards will both be top 10 nationally). Has recruiting been the problem? Their current junior class was weak by Texas standards, but the other 3 (senior, soph, freshman) were #5, 5, 3. They might be BCS contenders in 2012, but it's not as if they've had to climb out of some big recruiting hole, have they? Recruiting was a (relative) problem from 2006-2008. The staff was complacent after the win against USC. The last two classes were good and the next two (2011-12) look to be good as well. Yeah, if only Texas could recruit enough talent to compete.
  3. good article on the terelle pryor shenanigans. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news;_ylt=AhOSsawPa5v.YHcT9zzT6NA5nYcB?slug=dw-pryor010311
  4. God I hope he stays away from Texas. texas poached one of our two good recruiters. thanks. not even sure why. it's not like they have trouble selling kids on the school. wouldve made more sense to get a superior coach.
  5. ugly game between KU/Cal. Marcus Morris booted for an elbow above the head. A scrum broke out over a held ball. KU is more or less in control, but they're still looking pretty average imo. Selby with 18 pts, though. He's pretty good. He'll be really dangerous when he learns to protect the ball better.
  6. this is some ugly basketball.
  7. is the game at Assembly Hall or Paige Arena?
  8. Well, I haven't been impressed with anyone in college basketball this year. Selby should really help KU. Duke is impressive when healthy. Duke, even without Irving, would blast KU right now. So would several other teams.
  9. LA teams can't catch a break in AFH.
  10. I'm very unimpressed by KU. USC should've won that game. They worked us in the paint. Selby is pretty good though.
  11. word is the contract had a lot of language in designed to protect the university from future scandals in the wake of our last AD's use of his position to get expensive gifts, abuse of the private jet, and failure to catch the ticket scandal that was happening right under his nose. Cunningham didn't like the wording and decided he couldn't sign the contract. Not sure how I feel about it personally. I understand the push to have tighter control on the AD with more checks and balances. But on the other hand, we can't be so draconian about the language in the contract that it prevents qualified candidates from signing on the line. You can make fun of the fact he was Tulsa's AD, but he's a name on the rise, with experience as a head guy (Tulsa, Ball State) and a lengthy stint at as an assistant at Notre Dame (before they started killing students.)
  12. "But to get a 90 percent non-approval rating was really surprising. It showed that we didn’t connect with our fans in a way that we wanted to. It’s humbling, to say the least, because we’re trying to build fan bases, not push them away. "I've been around this business a long time, and I would say it’s one of the more surprising things. There’s a sensibility there that we did not connect with, did not read well." How are they surprised by the negative response? I figured they knew it was terrible but did it anyway for some specific reason. This is what caught my eye: "Delany said the conference chose the divisions based on parity, rather than geography...." That doesn't make sense. How can you guarantee parity long-term?
  13. I think a lot of people assume a top-5 or top-10 recruit is a one-and-done guy, when in reality, as Sulley said, there aren't that many guys who can do one year of college and step in and be effective in the NBA. I bet Hopson wouldve had a chance at being drafted on potential alone after his FR year, but he wasn't a surefire guy like Rose, etc.
  14. yeah, but this is particularly bad. A "1" instead of an "I"? One of my friends asked why the Big 10 logo looks like in internet password
  15. Well, at least when KU is in the Mountain West, we'll have a better logo and division names.
  16. if im hiring a coordinator, i'd have gone gus malazan over muschamp.
  17. I'm just not very impressed by KU this year. I think we can get better, but our d is weak.
  18. nm, I'll let Sulley handle the Kansas part of your post. Yeah, it's better if only one of you sounds like a raving lunatic.
  19. i'll miss you, ronnie
  20. Didn't get to see the game tonight. From the grainy, tiny video on ESPN, it's hard to see a foul. I'll take it, but it's hard to feel good about the win. And I think UCLA is a year away, so it's troubling seeing us struggle at home vs them. Our interior D is not good. And we really need Selby to a great player, not just a freshman w potential.
  21. The toupe is already angling for it. haha, he has been, kinda.
  22. I'd make fun of the Big East, but I have a bad feeling I'll be praying for a Big East invite in the next 3-5 years.
  23. What should I expect from your boys on Thursday, Craisin?
  24. Wait, what? Is that real? You're surprised that Theriot would be a shameless suck up? that little prick is so predictable.
