  1. Speaking of crybaby Roy, here's his long-winded response to that fan incident the other day.
  2. I'd still be bitter about Roy if we hadn't won in 08.
  3. Lol. Sulley, I love you, but you're the purest representation of the insane, bitter Illini fan I've ever met. At least you're hilarious about it, though.
  4. I don't know where you're getting any of this from. I was talking about paying recruits by hiring their relatives to made up positions. I'm pretty satisfied with the results of that transaction. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/snoodmonger1/610x.jpg
  5. So, just to be clear--it's fine if Weber and Co. drop in on an eighth grader but not Self? Also, like you two wouldn't have jizzzed on each other's faces if "hired gun" X Henry would have so much as taken a recruiting visit to Illinois.
  6. I think the point is, he did just as much as Pinkel did w/o the benefit of Nick Saban's players or the Ohio recruiting field. No one would have said great hire RE: Pinkel because he turned a 10-2 team into an also-ran and then rebuilt them. That's the difference between the two. Gill built something out of nothing. Pinkel had a bad start at a place where the previous coach had shown winning was possible. To his credit, Pinkel did end up having a great run. It's hard to say how long Gill will get. He'll get a pass next year. People will want to see some results by year two, though. The problem is, those are the years we get the tough south rotation. I think 1 winning season and 1 bowl appearance will have a lot of people grumbling. Not sure he would survive that. I guess it would also depend on HOW they were losing and what kind of recruits he was bringing in.
  7. For the Mizzou fans criticizing Gill's record at Buffalo, here's a comparison of Gill's record in his first four years vs. Pinkel's record in his first four years at Toledo. Pinkel (taking over for Saban's 1990 10-2 Squad). 1991 - 5-5-1 1992 - 8-3 1993 - 4-7 1994 - 6-4-1 Total - 23-19-2 Gills (taking over a 1-10 team): 2006 - 2-10 2007 - 5-7 2008 - 8-6 2009 - 5-7 Total - 20-30 Here's their MAC conference records. Pinkie's first 4 years: 16-14-2 Gill's first 4 years: 14-18
  8. Well Gill's press conference gave me a boner. I'm getting pretty stoked about this guy.
  9. andy's so bitter about ball state losing that game. let it go dude. It's ancient history t this point.
  10. The MAC isn't a conference that takes much for a complete turnaround. They've had 7 champions in 9 years, and 9 schools have won or tied for the division in the last 5 years. That's a good point but again, Buffalo was epically bad before he came there. I think the coaching turnover rate in that conference is also a big reason for why it's much easier to win in that conference almost right away as compared to most. All of the real good coaches get plucked away immediately. I guarantee you Buffalo will fade all the way back to the ranks of the obscure now that Gill's gone. Sorry to pick on Andy, but I see them being about as bad as Ball St. was this past year. I don't think he's a program-changing coach for Kansas by any means, but he should have them competing for seven to eight wins a year. if 8 wins is an average season for KU, that's program changing. Well 5-7 this year for Mangino was horrible. I think Gill can get 7-8 wins a year, especially playing in the North. The horribleness transcended the 5-7 record. That was an experience-laden roster with 3 record-holding offensive players. The north was a joke, and it was ripe for the plucking. And he mustered one win--barely--over ISU. We also barely won against So Miss. If Gill can average 8 wins (pre-bowl) with some 6 win/10 win outliers, he'll become the godfather of KU football.

  12. I don't put a lot of stock in his Buffalo record. That program joined the FCS in 1999 and had never won more than 3 games until he got there. So winning 5, 8, and 5 games in his last three years is pretty impressive, imo. As far as Torbush goes, he had a lot of success at UNC under Mack Brown, but he struggled with Franchione at aTm. I guess we'll find out who the real Torbush is in the next few years. I'm actually pretty excited about him. The coaches in the Big 12 N are pretty mediocre. And he's assembled a pretty good staff. If he can recruit, I have high hopes. And by all accounts, he was a good recruiter and a great offensive mind under Osborne at Nebraska. We lost a inmprtant QB commit (Jacoby Walker), and LSU is trying to swoop in on our best recruit, Geneo Grissom. Other than that, it's hard to say what impact the coaching change is having. Allegedly we were about to get hit by mass transfers under mangino, so that shouldn't happen anymore.
  13. According to the KC Star: Anybody have any thoughts on Torbush and Long. I'm ashamed to say I don't know much about either.
  14. I think KSU is gonna be a very tough team this year.
  15. I like Gill, but to go from Harbaugh to Gill is a real disappointment, especially when Tubberville and Holtz seemed like real possibilities.
  16. i know i am! well i wouldnt get too worried. i dont think he's coming here
  17. haha, i really hope he comes. mizzou fans are already crapping themselves.
  18. According to the KC Star, Harbaugh is KU's #1 choice. Skip Holtz and Turner Gill allegedly would take the job if offered. And Tommy Tuberville just asked to be considered. IMO, Harbaugh or Tuberville would both homerun hires. Holtz and Gill are pretty solid fallbacks, too.
  19. Thanks for bringing some reality to that hypothetical situation, 'Bum.
  20. I don't think we're really looking at him. I think he's trying to leverage a raise. I take it back. maybe he is a candidate. which sucks. According to ESPN, the finalists are Holtz, Gill, Brewster, and Butch Jones. Of that, I'd want Holtz or Gill.
  21. I don't think we're really looking at him. I think he's trying to leverage a raise.
  22. Give it to Suh.
  23. Evidently Houston Nutt has expressed interest in the KU job. Thoughts, SEC fans? Isn't he kind of crazy? Is he just using this to leverage a raise out of Ole Miss? http://www.kansascity.com/166/story/1616064.html
  24. Doubt it. KU fans travel better than Missouri fans. Deal with it.
