I like what I've seen of X so far. I want to see if he can defend, though. I'd also like to see him drive the ball. He's built like an NBA player. He should be able to use his strength to get to the rack. X is good, but I wonder if he will be able to tap into everything he can do this year. KU is trying to win a title and as a result X will have to play more of a role than most frosh that good do. We're going to rely heavily on him, that's for sure, but it will be a pretty defined role. I don't think he'll be able to tap into everything he can do. What we need most is shooting, defense, and boards out of him. It would probably be better for him to stay a second year from a player dev perspective.. But it might help Self if he went one and done, so players will believe Self can deliver one-and-doners to the NBA. On the Phog they are saying that Illinois would lose to both Hofstra and Memphis. It amazes me how Kansas fans think they are so much better than Illinois every year, but still feel the need to take shots at us and keep tabs on us. I think we would beat both of those team pretty easily. We aren't that bad anymore. There's no way you'd lose to Hofstra. I don't know what to make of Memphis. I'll have to see them in a couple more games against legit teams before I'd feel comfortable assessing how they'd play vs. UI. Right now I'd take UI, though. I think our game vs. Memphis was somewhat anomalous for both teams. As for the Phog's attitude toward UI, I'm sorry but the UI fans brought it on themselves. They were merciless toward KU/Self his first few years.

Weber always sat DMac after he did cool things in the past. Weber is a cool hater. Seriously though I don't mind him reminding Brandon to drive. He's a good shooter, but needs to slash to be completely effective. i'd rather see him get to the basket than shoot threes. he's not jamar smith, he's so much more, the kid can get his shot whenever he wants to and he can get to the hoop like no one we've had in a while. he's big time. this guy is d wade. Agreed. Snood underrated him a bunch when he was talking about Self not wanting him. We were lucky to get him locked up early on the recruiting process. Jesus, you're still upset about that? I was half joking and half pointing out the Self was aiming higher trying to get henry. Now Paul could end up being better than X, but X was considered a much higher-level recruit.

Some 2 star KU football recruit started a fight with him, so he had to leave before meeting with Self. Were they even able to meet? I know Beal and his team went to the game. I don't know if Self spent any one-on-one time with him. I've heard that Beal's camp doesn't want to talk about recruiting to anyone right now. I've also heard he wants to make a decision soon, and that he's tired of the process.

Damn. Well that'll do it. You want him gone or no? I can't remember which side of the fence you're on. I don't necessarily want him gone unless that stuff is true. But his leash has gotten way shorter after this disaster of a season, which reshaped my perception of him as a coach. This team, at the worst, should have been 7-5. We'll be lucky to go 6-6 at this point. It was a total failure for the coaching staff.

Lots of rumors that KU is having a formal meeting with players and their families. Mangino may have hit/gotten physical with a player. THe families are making a presentation to a panel. I think he may be gone.

I think it may be more the power of WWW and Fed Ex. Does Pastner have a relationship with WWW? Either way, Cal recruited much better with Pastner there. Dude's unbelievable at getting talent. It will be interesting to see how he coaches them.

Again, the reason we lost was we missed shots and our best players played terribly. If we hit our shots, Gatens, Tucker, Fuller and Cole played well but we still lost because we couldn't defend and the young guys were awful, I would be more worried. Are you really worried about them making shots? Do you really think Gatens and Tucker are that bad? You guys just played awful it happens. Hell Kansas lost at home to an awful school a few years ago and still went to the Elite Eight that year. I can't remember who it was, maybe Richmond? Snood can you help me out here? We lost to Richmond at home in 03-04, and that year we were an overtime loss from the Final Four. We lost to Oral Roberts at home in 06-07 and got to the elite 8 that year, too (lost to UCLA.) We lost to Ball State in the Maui Classic in one of our back-to-back Final Four years.

Nobody's defense is good at this point in the season. That usually doesn't start to come together until December or Jan, especially if the team has a bunch of new parts.

what a terrible season. part of it makes me rethink mangino as our head coach. When you facotr in our talent level (which is high for KU football), this season has been of the all-around worst displays of football I've seen.

KU hammered Hofstra, 101-65. Xavier Henry off to a great start with 27 points off 8-12 shooting. I really feel good about our chances at another NC this season, and after the disaster this football season turned into, I'm gonna need it. As an aside, I think K-State will be a pretty tough team this year, too. Definite top 25 potential.
