  1. Word is UNC got hammered by Vandy in a scrimmage. Interesting if true.
  2. KU kicked off it's season w an exhibition against mighty Fort Hayes State. We have more than a few cupcakes, but we do also play Memphis at a neutral site, @ Temple @UCLA, @ #11 Tennessee, vs. #15 Michigan, vs #12 Cal, @#3 Texas, and vs #16 OU. So there should be some good games.
  3. If anyone should know it would be a Duke fan. After all, weren't you pretty highly ranked with Greg Paulus as your point guard? Every year he was there? I never liked Greg Paulus, you can look at my posts here. I wanted Sean Dockery to play over him his freshman year and Nolan Smith to start over him his last two years. Also, I don't think we were up at 4 for a couple of those years. EDIT: All of these are preseason rankings #1 his freshman year. Although, that was certainly because of Redick and Williams #11 his sophomore and junior years #5 last year UNC at 11 would be OK with me. But, you were ranked higher than that, so why wouldn't the Tar Heels in a weaker field, with better talent around the pg? Carolina this year does not have much better talent than Duke the last two years. Ed Davis and Deon Thompson are both going to have to take monster steps forward this year for them to be able to claim that. Duke at 11 was a joke for Paulus' sophomore year (and for the same reasons). Duke had just graduated almost all of their key players, but had a good enough season to stay up high. Also, Larry Drew is not as good as Greg Paulus. Larry Drew was just terrible last year. There's some talk that Strickland will supplant Drew, especially if his ball-handling continues to improve. And I think the general feeling is that Davis and Thompson are both ready to break out. UNC at 5 isn't a big stretch to me, especially this year.
  4. As for Texas they are pretty much bringing most everyone back outside of Abrams, had maybe the 2nd best class behind Kentucky (Jordas Hamilton and Avery Bradley) and a transfer of Jai Lucas from U of Florida. Damion James and Dexter Pittman should be very good this season too. IIRC, the thing about Texas is they didn't have a trustworthy PG last year. That (and Abrams not being quite the player they expected) really hurt them. The addition of Bradley alone will improve the Horns dramatically. How does Bradley help the problem of not having a PG? I was under the impression he could handle the ball. Is that false? EDIT: I thought he was more of a ball handler. Still, they added Lucas, too, who is a true PG.

  6. John Wall is very, very good (if he is allowed to play). It's not just a matter of who returns but who else you add. I agree and that is why they should go from unranked and barely a .500 team to ranked in the 15-20 range. To me the top 5 is reserved for the teams who played close or at that level the year before and return a lot. The top 5 is not for a team that has been mediocre for years now and get a great recruit who no one really knows how good he will be because he has yet to play. They are top 5 simply because they have been talked about all off-season. They should be ranked where ESPN feels they stack up, not based on past history. Wall isn't the only great freshman they have, he's just the best one they have. They are definitely a top 10 team. Wall's good, but the hype is a little outrageous. He can't shoot. And that will really impair his ability to use his quicks. People talk like he's the best guard we'll have seen in a long time. He's not. Dude isn't as good as Rose or Gordon.
  7. I'm sure Dickie V will disagree.
  8. i think it'll be Duke or UNC. If you're curious, he gave a writeup of his visit to KU. Self's house sounds pretty over the top. http://www.highschoolhoop.com/high-school-stories/2009/10/the-harrison-barnes-diary-official-visit-to-kansas/ Yeah, sounds like Barnes will be playing in the state of North Carolina next season. I think KU is in 3rd, with Oklahoma, UCLA, and Iowa State still officially on his list, but longshots. Barnes would really make it a great class for Duke. Especially when you consider that Seth Curry will be eligible next year as a sophomore and Andre Dawkins was originally signed in that class. I'm not really ready to buy into the Seth Curry hype yet.
  9. Have fun watching some North team get slaughtered.
  10. The North is a total joke. I do think KSU will lose out though. If they win the North, I don't know what I'll do.
  11. this is embarrassing to watch
  12. I've never seen him look this bad. These last two games have been disasters.
  13. awesome start for ku
  14. How did Kruger's and Self's coaching style's differ? What was it like to experience a regime change as a college player? How seriously did he consider playing football too while at UI? Who was his least favorite player to match up against in the Big 10? What was the best college arena he played in (besides AH)? What was the worst?

  20. really looking forward to playing a pissed off OU team that needs to win to stay above .500.
  21. i cant believe the called offensive PI on "the pick" play. It never gets [expletive] called, but they called it there and cost us the game.
