  1. wow. sorry, dew. So who does UT go after? Do they talk to Patterson out of TCU? Petersen from Boise?
  2. I know in most circumstances USC is a better gig, but it seems like Kiffin is in a good spot at UT. Has a lot of players coming in at a traditionally strong program that isn't about to get hit w sanctions.
  3. I bet Self isn't happy about Aldrich not touching the ball, too. That's two games in a row where KU had 5-6 players simply not show up. I thought after the cornell near miss this team would be more focused.
  4. this KU team won't win it all unless they get a lot better. Very disappointing performance.
  5. Agreed on both points. I suppose NU's offense can only get better. I'll be interested to see how good their defense is without superman.
  6. but we could have done that if he was bitching about bama losing, too
  7. Is there anything lamer than the "SEC" chant?
  8. They were fortunate. But those teams that can hit the three and move into a solid zone d are going to give KU (or any team, for that matter) problems if they are not crisp with their passes and turn the ball over. I think the game was a result of KU being very high on themselves after the Temple game. They assumed they were just gonna roll over some nerdy honkies last night, and they found out it's not that easy. As an aside, I wish Cole could recapture the magic from last year. He's just been off all season, aside from the Memphis game. Good to know Sherron can still take over if necessary, though. I have trouble believing we'll have many more games where the entire team forgets how to play.
  9. KU got very, very lucky. Hope it serves as a wakeup call.
  10. KU still down 4 to Cornell. I think we'll lose this game. They tried to "turn it on" after coming out flat, but Cornell is still outplaying them.
  11. KU down 3 at the half to Cornell.
  12. It's interesting to hear people complain about Weber playing less talented, experienced "glue guys" over more talented freshman, because it seems like fans of every program bitch about that, with a few exceptions. I know KU fans have railed on Self for sticking with hard-working, no talent guys over more physically gifted freshman. Even this year it's a running debate. Brady Morningstar clearly doesn't have the athletic ability/basketball talent of Elijah Johnson, a 5* freshman. But he's older (Morningstar is a RS Junior who came in a year late because of prep school, so dude is like 42), knows the system better, and is less prone to mistakes than EJ would be. Right now, that chatter is at a minimum because we're undefeated and #1, but the moment we lose (especially if Brady is unimpressive in that loss), it'll hit the fan. I don't know how comparable that situation is to the UI one because I really haven't seen the team play yet.
  13. finally a complete game by KU.
  14. yikes tennessee http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4788521
  15. Who can, consistently? I don't know. I can see OU falling from grace (I lived through some rough years when in the pre-stoops era), but I don't see Texas ever falling from its perch at or near the top of the Big 12. They have a great campus, great city, great facilities, great recent history and one of the top 3 recruiting bases in america. The only team that's consistently good enough to challenge them is Oklahoma, and we've thrown up a couple of clunkers this decade, even though we've been at the top of our game. Whats been pretty amazing with Leech is that he has done everything without really ever having a great recruiting class. I think OU will be ok without Stoops, but I do wonder what would happen. TCU might firmly overtake them should Stoops leave. Funny, because if Stoops leaves, I figure Patterson would be one of their top targets. And I think he'd kill it at OU.
  16. Yeah, i read about that. I don't want to see that at all.
  17. Even if UK hadn't gotten it, they likely would have combed through the history books and found some old wins like they did every other time someone gets close to catching them for the all-time wins record.
  18. You have a strange interpretation of great. At Bama is a tough place to win, especially the way they did. I know RPI means nothing right now, but #1 RPI and #3 SOS is pretty dang significant. Anyone who doesn't think they'll contend for the Big 12 is dilusional. I think they're pretty good, but I don't think they have enough in the post to challenge for the Big XII championship. I do think we'll only split with them this year. But I expect them to lose one or two head scratchers during league play. Their guards are pretty damn good, though.
  19. I think that's an incorrect assumption. I don't think so. Uhhh, yeah it is. If texas left, there would be no Big 12. Every other school is replaceable. Not Texas.
  20. Would anyone in the Big 12 care if Missouri left? I think it's the least liked school in the conference. Take them please, Big 10. If they did leave, I doubt you could lure Arkansas out of the SEC. They make way more money there. TCU seems more likely.
  21. He allegedly put a lot of work in over the summer w a personal trainer. He definitely has an NBA body. Don't know if he can really defend yet, and he could get better putting the ball on the floor. But he's got a sweet stroke.
  22. A team with no wins vs. a team on probation? something had to give.
  23. No brainer. 2008 NCAA Mens Hoops Title.
  24. IG cracked the case. We paid henry to come to KU. Probably had nothing to do with Cal luring him to Memphis and then bolting. Or Henry growing up a KU fan. Or both his parents being alums of KU. Or his dad playing hoops at KU. Nope. It was the classic Self-payola. From what I heard, during Self's in-home with X, Anthony Longstreet leapt out from under Self's toupee holding a Samsonite full of unmarked bills, and it was pretty much done-zo from there. Hope the NCAA doesn't find out. I mean, honestly, if you really think Self is paying recruits to come to KU, why would he even bother getting involved with this 8th grader? Wouldn't he just show up to the kid's last high school game driving a Bentley with gold bullion in the trunk and "forget" the keys in the kid's backpack?
  25. Yeah, Roy pretty much set his team up to be totally reamed for the rest of the season.
