Phillies and Mariners? The Phillies wouldn't shock me but they'd probably prefer to wait until next offseason. Still, this could be their Lester kind of move and it wouldn't be crazy. The Mariners we haven't heard much about which is a little surprising. Same with the Angels. They got Ohtani, but there's very little certainty anywhere in that rotation and for a team that has playoff hopes. And then there's the Dodgers potentially clearing a lot of money, but that likely takes selling a good prospect or two because Matt Kemp is worthless. On the surface, Andrew Friedman making all these moves -- and giving up good young talent -- just to sign a 31-year-old pitcher for $100 million+ seems unlikely. Does it matter? He’s not signing with any team.

There is no way any team is giving him a 7-year deal. If that's the holdup, it may be well into the season before he signs. Who wants to pay a 39-year-old pitcher 25M/year? Can you imagine how far apart they must be if Theo is sticking with a 4-year deal and Darvish want's almost twice as long?

Heaven forbid, I wouldn't want to anybody to think I didn't. I now know how our grandparents felt about FDR. I just mean I trust Theo to do whats in the best interest of the Club. It sounds like Theo gauged the market for Darvish pretty well so if they lose him to another team, it's cool.

Dodgers, it’s his preferred destination. They won’t meet some minimum threashold he has. I trust Theo.

Apparently what LA can do is not plan financially for signing Darvish. It just seems like he would have went with the Dodgers by now if that were the case.

it seems to me that if Theo cannot get Darvish to budge and he's not moving either, that he wouldn't have moved on already and went after Cobb or Jake.

Dood had a nice RATM reference thrown into his article. We need more of this. Hahahahaha and some other horsefeathers in the Metrosex is saying Yu "clearly" wants to return to Texas. Ok nobody knows horsefeathers and Yu is probably going to sign with a KBO. Tucked the same article the guy says Kemp stands little chance of making the opening day roster, so there goes his trade value.

damn it. this is the first time in over a month that i've had any real doubt about the cubs getting darvish. The Dodgers don't look to be shedding money very fast. I would think Theo would know this if it were true. Maybe he's given Darvish the best offer and Darvish is waiting to see if the Dodgers can get rid of some guys.

If any of this is true, it sounds like they have an agreement but they are working out the details.

I absolutely HATED the David Ross signing. But I came around to him. I was at the game he hit his 100th HR and it was glorious. Wrigley was rocking. I wonder what Mariner’s Revenge or whatever his name is thinks about Ross,
